    This is exactly what I needed - the original mounting "hardware" on my sink (plywood squares and 1/4" thick glue of some sort) failed. I bought those exact clips and epoxy. Affixing the posts was easy since I had the sink pulled out. I was able to apply silicone caulk, tighten the wingnuts, then clean up the excess caulk. After reattaching the pipes and garbage disposal, I"m back in business! One small bump along the way was that one of the posts I epoxied on fell off, so I'll be replacing that with a new one this weekend.

    My sink was installed by a company contracted by Home Depot, that has since gone out of business. My sink also dropped about a quarter of an inch, allowing water to flow over the back top lip of the sink and down into the cabinet below. I went to Home Depot to complain about it but was told that the installation labor is only guaranteed for one year. My comment to them was, "Who would ever want an undermount sink if they were all going to fail after 5 or 6 years?". My comment was met by blank stares with no replies. I went back later to see if maybe Home Depot would maybe help me with a new sink as the old one is 10 years old now and if I have to reinstall it, why not put a new one in. But, they refused. The newer guy I talked to told me that in his experience, all undermount sinks will eventually fail. Well, that's just great. I digress; would ANYONE buy an undermount sink if they knew they were going to have to have it remounted within 10 years, BESIDES having all the water leaks around the broken seal between the top of the sink and the bottom of the counter??? Personally, I will never buy an undermount sink again, given the opportunity. And just like the person Wing Walker talked to (below), I have seen UA-cam posts about people building wooden frames into the box (cabinet) prior to having the countertop installed. I believe that is a MUCH better idea IF you are going the unmount way. But if you've already gotten screwed by an undermount sink like I have, I really like the undermount sink clips that Menards sells and have installed them myselfs. Wish me luck!

      That's really sad that you thought a sink installation would last ten years solid with no repair. Sadder even that you tried to get a free/discount after 10 years of use. I expect everything nowadays to fail within a year. Meaning, I have no expectations. You sleep better this way.

      I too had 3 undermount sinks installed, Home Depot sucks. Everything the fabricators did was wrong. The only thing thats holding my sinks is some pink colored epoxy? They didn't use the brackets that came with the sinks either. The Quartz fabricators were Koronerusa. They installed the sinks and there is no room for my faucet plunger in all 3 sinks. The over hang of our sink is 5 1/4" . Same with. my master bathroom. The design we picked isn't nearly the same as what we got plus the backsplash and sidesplash don't match the lousy countertop. I an only say Home Depot does NOT stand behind their warranty! So they started this job Feb. 2023 and here it is going into June. I have NO sink hooked up in my guest room and I hate my master bathroom. Im sure it wont last long. So 4 months of aggravation Im going to take the legal route. They should be accountable for their subcontractors as well.

    Just came here as I am having a new countertop and undermount sink installed, and the installer told me he has had issues with the epoxy mounts so now he recommends a wooden frame or supports attached to the sides of the cabinet and a horizontal support under the sink. Failsafe is how he described it. I thought it was a little low tech and then I see the comment by " wing walker" below! :)

    I think you could also lightly sand the area with 120 or 80 grit sandpaper then clean it
    would give the epoxy some more bonding strength I assume by roughing up the surface

    • @shieldcracker
      @shieldcracker Рік тому

      You can see one of the key holesat the end of the video. Those are use to attach the hardware that supports the sink to the counter top. A better choice IMO than than the epoxied studs.

    • @PhilCrockett
      @PhilCrockett  Рік тому

      You don't need keyhole slots for this hardware. The countertop was manufactured with the slots, but they were not positioned for keyhole hardware. That is why I'm using the product in this video. You just don't need keyhole slots with these.

The secured the undermount sink by pressing it up in place from underneath and screwing in an L bracket on each side with 2 screws holding it against the cabinet sides. Thank you for telling me about that product. I might buy the sink setter 104-P and it's not terribly expensive either. The only concern I have is, the side and rear walls of my sink cabinet might not be thick enough to support a lot of weight. The sink setter is less messier than the epoxy and metal clips, but I'll try the epoxy and metal clips first. It's possible I might end up going with a combination of metal clips and the sink setter.
