    You Must Get This Oil Filter Wrench To Do This Oil Change!! See: ua-cam.com/video/NAljrk4qtdY/v-deo.html

    maybe would be better to drill a hole in the bottom of the filter out away from the motor to drain most of it out before removal.

  • @jeremylay1694
    @jeremylay1694 Рік тому

    By the way it's easier to pull the drain hose that has the threaded nut on it an zip tie it. It drains much better that way

    they didn't want that filter to fall off. wish they would torque all the important bolts that well.🤣

      @@silverbankruptcy hey I'd gladly trade this heat for some cooler weather. At least with the cold you can put more cloths on, or build a fire, or do something to get warm. You can only take so many cloths off and if your a/c gives out, you're SOL. Even the water is hot and it's been 100+ heat index for most of the summer. So I guess you just have to pick your poison.

    The oil filter always feels tight when your filter wrench is jammed against the engine mount bolt😅

    • @silverbankruptcy
      @silverbankruptcy  7 місяців тому

      I learned that you cannot remove the oil filter unless you heat up the engine first. so let it run for 15 minutes and then cool off some and then remove the filter.

    damn, that's a jacked up design just to change the oil, not owner friendly at all

  • @chaser9363

    i would drill a hole in the bottom of the doghouse just big enough for the drain hose to fit in or maybe install small valve or coupling with a quick connect that secures to the bottom of the doghouse, for an extension hose, so that way it will gravity flow. and you should crack open your oil filler cap to allow venting for better flow

    • @silverbankruptcy
      @silverbankruptcy  5 років тому

      That's a Good Idea! I open the Crankcase to add oil.

    I have the same system with only 230hrs on it most of which is the 20min weekly test run. I'd never changed the oil as my natural gas provider offered then regular maintenance on it well they no longer do an I wanna change the oil but saw no drain plug by the filter or dipstick and thought the hose was how to change it but wasn't sure

    • @silverbankruptcy
      @silverbankruptcy  Рік тому

      I hope that this video shows you how. There is a Valve where the hose attaches to the engine, that you turn to the left and that allows the oil to drain out. Thank You for Joining us, and please watch my other videos on this unit.

      @jeremylay1694 Рік тому

      @@silverbankruptcy yeah that's what I finally discovered after watching your video I traced the hose down my unit it wasn't attached at the end of the drain hose like yours was mine was in a clip that you can pull out and just remove the threaded nut and no oil drains out that tube it was a little bit easier than half and use a hand transfer pump like urs. I think urs is newer or bigger mine is 20kw but they say those units are good for 3000 hrs which will last my lifetime

    There is only one way to dispose of used motor oil, take it to an auto parts supply store and let them recycle it.

      I use the old one as a wood preservative. The used oil repels termites.

    Your videos are great! I enjoy them but most importantly they are very informative. Try the marine oil extractor next time to pull the oil out; you'll find it more efficient and much much cleaner. I will try during the next couple of weeks to install a Generator Text Messaging System just like yours.....we'll see how successful I will be. Cheers.

    • @silverbankruptcy
      @silverbankruptcy  8 років тому

      I have the Hand Pump that I should have tried first, but your marine oil extractor is a great idea! The Text Messaging System is Fantastic! Just make sure that you can Tap into a 12V line that runs to those valves. Its probably more difficult on those 20KW air cooled unit since in those, the system is more integrated. Thank You Very Much! I try and try to make good videos, but its not my occupation so I am not particularly good at it. I think my new Samsung phone has good results in this and the Stress Test video.

      A couple of quick questions: Is the cable connecting the 12V line to the relay a dedicated cable? I am asking because my generator is about 75 feet from the house; if it's a dedicated line than and I would have to fish the cable through the underground conduit. What gauge are you using?
      For the fuse box preventing the generator to start if the block-heater goes: as you may recall I have a 45kw....would the 7.5 amp suffice or should I get the 10 amp? Many thanks.

    • @silverbankruptcy
      @silverbankruptcy  8 років тому

      The Gauge wire for the Generator and Transfer switch Communications are 18 Gauge, so is the optional 12V LED status light. I used the same 18 Gauge wires for this 12V Relay. Its very low amps and 18 Gauge is more than enough. Use Sprinkler wire - its 18 Gauge and water resistant. In my case, I ordered from www.wireandcableyourway.com/ I ordered [VNT18-6CS] #18-6C THHN-PVC Shielded Tray Cable
      @ $0.48/ foot. The 18/6 Means that it had six wires in it, 2 for gen to transfer switch, 2 for the inexpensive LED Light that you should have, and 2 for this 12V relay. You can get 18/2 if needed or get 18/4 and put in the LED light if you don't have it. I believe that your block heater is 2,000 Watts (mine is (1,000 Watts) so 2000 Watts / 240 Volts is 8.3 Amps - Littelfuse Sells a 9 Amp fuse Item# SFE9 that should work. See my Video on the Text Messaging system and read the text and it should be great. Call the company and tell them that you saw this video. Good Luck.

    • @rhusse1
      @rhusse1 8 років тому

      Sorry to ask all these questions but is the 18 Gauge wire a dedicated wire that runs from the 12v gas valve line directly to the relay on the other side? Or is it connected from the 12v gas valve line to the transfer switch and then to the relay? Obviously I am novice at this electrical stuff! :)

    • @silverbankruptcy
      @silverbankruptcy  8 років тому

      +rhusse1 No Problem. Basically Just Tap into the two wires that lead to either of the gas valves, left one is easier. These are a12 Volt line which then run directly to the 2 screws on the timer relay, see that video. The texting device hooks up to the other side of the relay. Simple as that.

      The only weak part I've had with mine is solenoid which was easy to replace and only cost $20. I've actually stopped the weekly run time and just do it monthly. Putting all the extra hours on a whole house generator didn't make sense. So the 1st of each month I flip the transfer switch and let it run for 30mins just to keep the battery good and check for any faults on the box on my enclosed porch. Mine is sitting on a concrete pad hooked up right by my gas main.

    As far as your magnets on the oil filter goes, 99% of any metal you get in your engine oil is nonmagnetic.

    open the oil fill cap to let air in, and the oil will flow better.

    • @silverbankruptcy
      @silverbankruptcy  8 років тому

      That is generally good advice. This engine does not have one. They use that opening for something like a PCV return for engine to burn unburned vapors that comes off the oil. In the video, i do push it up to allow air in as you correctly suggest.

      I have a question the 25kw I don't know if that's a new model that I just saw has the lid that opens on the top why didn't you go with that one it also has a 4 cylinder engine and my other question is what was the cost for everything when you were done what was the total what would it cost to have one of those put in like you I'm thinking of going with the 25kw to four-cylinder engine and it's better than the lawnmower model that they sell with the 20kw because I also think that's more reliable what's your opinion on that
