  • Here's one of my recent projects, the latest run RC HO Scale CSX YN2 AC4400 with the addition of some Tamiya Panel Liner and the typical feature of most GE's during their operating careers- simulated fire down the exhaust stack.
    This was an easy upgrade- using a single 0402 LED, some styrene to fill the stack hole, and paint to give some depth.

    This is a spectacular model of the ac4400cw and Scaletrains has produced another fantastic locomotive model, the CSX yn2 paint scheme looks incredible as well as the detail appearance of the steerable trucks as only a few railroads purchased ac4400 engines equipped with steerable trucks.

    I don't think i've ever seen a Light for the exhaust stack before it looks really nice And I hope they do more models like this in the future

    I really hope that these stack fire details become present on stock locomotives. It’s a really cool touch and I think that if manufacturers started putting these on their locomotives, it would definitely increase the quality of their products.

    I love that YN2 ET44. I’m hoping to get a H1 ET44 soon

      @@joshthetrainfan They're both cool options for T4s! The H1 looks sharp in person, but YN2 won me over.

      @ yeah it’s understandable bc you have CSX in your blood, as an SCL SD45.

      @Mr_Mech_man This was a custom addition to the locomotive, but it can easily be replicated.

      The only weakness with the ScaleTrains locomotives in my opinion has to do with their pressfit plows.

    • @SCL3618
      @SCL3618  10 днів тому

      @RailsofForney The plows are glued into place with a very light amount of CA glue, enough where if you snag something or bump it hard in shipment- it can come loose.
      This is a better alternative than a big glob of glue messing with the cosmetics. Otherwise I've had no issues re-attaching a plow and fixing in place with canopy glue for some flex.

      @ I got a model of BNSF #6075 about a year ago but lost the plow at some point. I have a replacement but it’s still mildly annoying to repair imo.

    Can you add snow in your mini city?

    • @SCL3618
      @SCL3618  Місяць тому

      @@PacificHorizonStudiosfan The layout usually gets some snow applied for Christmas open houses, but it's a bit of a pain to clean up, so snow is limited to open areas where it works better and can be cleaned.
