Thank you so much!!! it's an honor to get the first 10/10 of the series, and the full video is on our channel for your viewing pleasure
It sounds great! Love the vibe of the song and the location provides such a cool sound👌
also worth noting, he's playing through 2 tubescreamers ;)
Nice sounds guys. I mean really nice.
That was some nice guitar playing! Best one so far
Andrew here who played the Journey solo. Rhett, thank you so much for the feature and the 9.5/10 rating! 🙏🎶🎸
I'm not a huge Journey fan, but, man, you NAILED that!!! Awesome job!!!
Dude... Amazing solo. I'm a huge Schon fan, and I LOVE this solo. Great job!
I bump that 9.5 to 10, sounded identical when I saw him play it live. Sounds amazing and great playing with the right feel. What kind of guitar are you playing there Andrew?
@@txc123 thanks ha, all good fun, that’s a Moniker from Austin, TX
No, Andrew, thank you for that legit solo!
The song the guy is playing with that Deusenberg is Inhaler by FOALS and you should jam that record its from!
Love that song. I think Christian did a really good job!
I reckon this is one of the most constructive and informative shows on the internet right now.. Rhett's commentary is so natural and intuitive. Artists helping artists is a world of win.
Hey Rhett!! Thank you very much for your kind words and advice! I got really emotional! I really can’t express myself! Loved the series!
Congratulations man 9/10
Jones Car Wash was truly worthy of a 10/10! (imho) The vibe and tones were just right. And that's not easy to pull off in a parking garage. Many times stuff gets too boomy when dealing with all of those reflective surfaces. Loved the dotted 8th note riffs, too, Rhett! That is a fun way to practice for sure!!
Thanks!!
Jones car wash slow blues was just perfect. I could listen to that all day.
This is why I love you tube. I love hearing musicians that I would otherwise never discover. There are so many phenomenal people making music who may never become mainstream acts or receive the promotion they deserve. Big thumbs up to everyone who submitted.
Really enjoy how welcoming and constructive this series has been.
Great job to all entries, love this series. Great job Rhett!
That dude just played that Journey solo, tone and feel, better than the original. Great job!!!
Yeah but no. Not even close
Better than the original is an overstatement. It’s very great, that’s it. No need to over hype it.
@@Lorneplumber opinion 🤷♂️
@@dirgmario I did immediately listen to the song after and preferred this dude's tone 🤷♂️
@@BParker55 but that’s your own preference. Which is fair and valid, but It’s very different to say “oh, I like X guitar tone more that Y” than to say “oh, this person did it better than the original”. Specially since you mentioned something as subjective as feel. Didn’t mean to be aggressive or anything.
They were all great! So much talent out there.
I love when you do these on your channel! Thanks for all you do, brother.
Good stuff all round, and it's so nice to see a truly positive series like this...
Thanks, Rhett! This is a cool idea! Glad to see you're keeping it going. Have a good one, man!
Damn. I believe this is my favorite new series. Good job Rhett for giving this a shot, and damn fine job to all who are submitting! I know I'll be searching out the bands that were named and checking out some of the UA-cam Channels of the submissions!
An episode full of tone!
Thanks, Rhett!
Man!... that Jones Car Wash song was amazing. I really love that slow blues feel. Made me think of Robin Trower (maybe Bluebird???). Great job!
Some really nice playing from all the submissions. The journey solo was better than the record. Loved the recording in the parking garage.
we love you so much Rhett !...tone is so important for the enjoyment of music !
Absolutely love this format of video. Really cool to see other musicians creativity in playing, with their own style and uniqueness. Keep it up!
Don't know how I missed this from 2 years ago? It takes some "balls" to lay it out there for for the whole world to see. Some really great playing.
Great series. Looking forward to the next one! Thanks!
Great concept. Really enjoy these vids.
Rhett, thanks for providing this kind of tone analysis. As a tone chaser, this is quite helpful to think about all the details I'm not normally paying attention to that affect the sound.
you have a unique way of being fun, and sometimes, it works really well. this was one of those
Great video, great series. Thanks Rhett!
Love this series. The Neal Schon solo cover was brilliantly perfect.
Thank you so much!
Dope idea… very cool Rhett. This guy did well too! I tend to overplay on loop stuff
I’m so hooked on this series! 👍🏻
Lots of fun Rhett, keep em coming!
Mad props to the gentleman that played the Journey solo! The perfect take!💪🏻👍🏻😎
perfect cover of the perfect solo! big props, that blew my fookin mind
Christian... great tone! I loved everything about it. The fuzz was killer, man!
Some great submissions! Great job 🤘
6:26 he killed that solo! The playing and the tone. I’m deeply impressed.
When you talk about the delay repeats I always play them within time. Thanks for explaining that concept to others.
That first song was epic! That just sounded great
Thanks fo a great series, Rhett - great idea allowing players to display skills and get your pro feedback! Playahs…. Great job on the Journey! Great job on the other performances, too! Nice snare flams in the garage jam!
Thanks for making us smile today, Rhett.
OH MAN! THIS MADE MY DAY! Thanks man!!
You're an awesome dude to do something like this.
Great stuff, luv’n this series
Great job as always Rhet
great submissions, and awesome playing, inspiring too
really nice playing and tones across the board!
Love this series. The rating thingies are a great add on
Awesome solos! This is a fun series!
Love the rating system! Seems legit!
Some great talent. Digging this, keep going.
You created a format that has to keep going. Love to hear what everyone else is doing. No auto tune please. Thanks Rhett.
Your vid’s always inspire me to pick up the guitar and keep practicing. Great video as always, Rhett
Great stuff bro I just left my cousin s studio here in Ireland and he said you were the guy to watch I love the videos thanks bro 👍👍
Come on Rhett. That Journey solo was a 10 +
Hopefully this becomes a regular series
You are genius for doing this. Engagement. Great work on your channel as always.
Jones Car Wash really was great. These are cool episodes. Hope your recording trip is going well.
Love that Journey cover!
Love the series. The Jones Carwash guys are amazing. Could listen to these guys all day.
and you can!! we really appreciate it, thank you:)
Great job everyone. that was awesome!
All you guys nailed it
I have the same strat you have! Mine is mid 90s and love it!
Love the measurements of awesomeness! Reminds me of a desk of cheese-it’s!
Journey solo guy is a school on how to bend up to actual notes, not just bend up to whatever is close.
This is a great new video segment
Well deserved 10. That really was spot on.
I like this interesting series, looking forward to next episode
Excellent!
That landslide rating scale cracked me up, thanks for the laugh and the knowledge!!
Enjoyed this very much❣️☄️💥⚡️✨🌟
Andrew Lynch, your tone is unbelievable. I would eat that tone if I could.
Hey thank you! Bridge humbucker with the tone rolled back a bit > compressor > RAT > Suhr Badger 18 > Suhr Reactive Load IR > DIG > Flint > stereo into Logic
I got give props to everyone who put there stuff up for us to hear.
For some people it’s not that big of a deal. You’ve played in front of many people or are in a band.
For others like me who are just learning guitar and putting out a piece you’ve been practicing may make you think there is no way I’m good enough to post.
But this encourages me to keep going.
Everyone did really awesome.
I can’t wait to hear from more of you on this challenge.
dig this video type, we all get to learn together!
I feel like these videos cram as many different tones/rigs into as little time as possible and that is the guitar content I signed up for.
Great format. Love your constructive criticism.
The tone police is back!! Stoked for round 2!
Cool. Some good players for sure.
I love the Rose Royce Reference!
Credible sources say that Neal Schon recorded the solo in Who's Crying Now with his black Les Paul Custom using the neck pickup (not Black Beauty) through a Fender Twin with a wah peddle slightly open. That's how he got the tone we hear in the studio recording. During live performances during the 80's, he would typically use a Roland G505 midi guitar (with a Roland GR-300) which was a red and white strat shaped guitar with a humbucker in the bridge position to play Who's Crying Now. But, if you look at enough video clips from the 80's, Neal Schon can actually be seen using a variety of guitars to play Who's Crying Now, including Les Pauls, Fenders, PRS and some others.
Buenísima Dariél!!
Love this idea. Also have you seen the fender noventa series? Just got my strat and I love it so much.
Not surprisingly, another great video! I really appreciate the positivity and constructive feedback. Great stuff! I also think you have an interesting angle vs other guitar guys out there- you share stuff that could touch on playing, producing, gear knowledge, etc., which is rad. Also P90s. You get it. :)
Inhaler by foals is the delay one , goes off live!
You should definitely put up links to the original videos in the description! Finding I have to dig through the comments a bit to find these players
Awesome video man! I would love to hear about your understanding of rhythm, and how you got your strumming hand chops. Also would love to hear you chat with a drummer about that, as a drummer myself!
Rhett, could you please post links to the videos featured? I really wanna experience the parking deck guys myself! Thanks, loved the video
All good man!!!
#3 was sick! Way to go Andrew 😲
Thanks 🙏🎶🎸
when I was in college me and some buddies recorded in a parking garage late one night this just reminded me of that good times I wish I had that recording
Rhett, The way you play that phrasing on "Hell or Highwater" Is the same phrasing/ technique Allen Collins used on the "What's Your Name?" That is one of my favorite if not favorite solo you wrote!
i love it rheet I LOVE IT!! wish i lived in nashville i live in sydney australia,, i would go to the gibson factory and pay for them to custom make me an exact replica of bucketheads first gibson les paul
The guy that played the Journey solo was good, he was just missing the setup. That solo was done in stereo with a lexicon digital delay on one of the channels. If he had that, the spatial dynamics would have been spot on. I still give him a 9/10.
Hey Rhett, I would love to submit one! This series is great!
This is awesome
Well you should listen to the Foals song the guy is playing around 9;30 (inhaler for the song) because his delay is pretty accurate and sounds way cooler than a very precise delay.
Dig it, Rhett! Please keep this series going, I'd love to send something in with some boomer bends ;-)
⚓️ Thanks Rhett 😎
I literally just heard Who's Cryin' Now while ago and I was surprised by how subdued his tone was for that solo. I honestly thought he might have even been using an envelope filter to get that flattened sound like that.
I’m with @Pete Breen - great series of vids, Rhett. Always nice to hear good stuff, plus learning something about
guitar recording techniques. Love the last vid. A “garage band” for real!.
That last video seems to be a video clip, made after it was recorded. It could be that it's a home recorded track, and that reverb was added to the entire mix. Sounds great though and great playing.
