I’m so lucky to have gotten two letters from Groucho ( 1977 ) and an autographed card from Chico that he had given my aunt. 💓 I still have the Groucho album from Carnegie Hall.
I had to do a rewind when I realised it was Harpo wearing the dressing gown 😲, I wonder if it's the $80 gown mentioned in The Marx Brothers scrapbook. Such a rare clip of Harpo out of costume and wig, happy this video came onto my homepage 🥰
How come I'm just now seeing this after 13 years? I'm either late to the party or early for staying home. Either way, I didn't bring a gift. But I do have Stucko. He's the brother that didn't become famous. He was a wallflower. I loved the montage, one of the best, especially the opening. It reminds me of that other foursome who were even more popular, The Beatles, and the Love Show in Las Vegas. And great lost footage also!!
From Gulf Shores, Alabama, I've started following your brilliant work. I wish we had the talent to put on your production! I wish we had the production to put on your talent! Best of luck to you with your amazing recreation! You guys nailed it!
I'd love to! Like most of show business, it's a matter of raising money (or attracting a producer who'd take on that responsibility). If it were up to me, the show would be running right now! We have high hopes but no specific leads, at the moment...
That was quiet an interesting hour I had. I was reading the book, Harpo Speaks, and I come to wonder, what was I'll Say She Is about anyway? So I give it a little search on the net, and along with a detailed enough description courtesy of Wikipedia, I find that a recreation of the play was made less than twenty years ago surprisingly. I put my book down and went about my business, later finding on UA-cam this lovely homage to the Marxes, posted by a name I don't recognize yet find familiar. As it turns out, Mr. Diamond, as I noticed for only a moment, stars as Groucho's role in that new I'll say She Is. Small world, eh?
Thanks for the good comments! It is indeed a small world, though as Steven Wright said, I wouldn't want to paint it. Thanks for your interest in the Marx Brothers and in I'LL SAY SHE IS! You can find a lot more about both at my website, and in my book, Gimme a Thrill.
Everyone, rightly so, talks about Groucho and his genius but his brothers are always overshadowed. Harpo in particular. He was not only very funny and a decent musician, he was also a good man. Reading his autobiography “Harpo Speaks” was just beautiful. He is the type of man I strive to be: funny, intelligent, kind, talented, and a bit zany.
Brilliant montage, made with love and respect for these giants of comedy. I'd ask if I could buy back my introduction to you, but I'm hoping you'd tell me it's not for sale.
Ahhhhh, this is wonderful. I love The Marx Brothers. Thank you for this tribute! Now I have a question...where was the clip at 8:49 taken from? I've yet to see a video of Harpo play his harp without his wig! :)
Isn't that curious? The usual theory is that when that test color footage was shot, on the set of Animal Crackers, the Marxes were summoned quickly. It's frustrating, because of course Harpo is the Marx Brother whose costume we'd most like to see in color in 1930. Incidentally, the clip is from a compilation called "Wonderland of California," and it includes some other color footage shot on the set of Animal Crackers (though without the Brothers).
@@NoahDiamond I thought it was a walk-through rehearsal of the scene, and one of the crew filmed this with his own camera. Maybe. Maybe not. I'm sure there are dozens of other explanations for this footage. After all, it's the Marx Brothers.
BROOKLYN NY, True icons Rest in Paradise, Thanks for all the Memories
They were great. If I was God I would let them live forever.

Isn't that interesting? It's from a strange 1930 anthology of color clips called "Wonderland of California."

Are you ever going to re-stage your revival of I'll Say She Is?
I'd love to! Like most of show business, it's a matter of raising money (or attracting a producer who'd take on that responsibility). If it were up to me, the show would be running right now! We have high hopes but no specific leads, at the moment...

Really terrific Noah. Thanks so much.

Why, a four-year-old child could understand this comment!
@@NoahDiamond Well, I'll go out and find a four-year-old child, since you can't make heads or tails of it.
Amazing! Thank you!!!!!!

Ahhhhh, this is wonderful. I love The Marx Brothers. Thank you for this tribute! Now I have a question...where was the clip at 8:49 taken from? I've yet to see a video of Harpo play his harp without his wig! :)
I don't know the exact clip. But from the biographies I've seen online it's from when he went to play in Russia.
now i ask you a question:
wut is it that hassa trunk but no key weighs 2000 lbs n lives in a circus
@@AceripXF That's irrelephant.
@@premanadi hey thats the answer! theres a whole lotta reliphants living in the coicus!

Fairly decent....
Which is better than Groucho, most days. What a mouth that guy had.... Classic witticisms.
And a couple of Rhodesian Rhidgebacks.
