  • The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said the bear population in Connecticut has more than doubled in the last 20 years to roughly 1,000. So what should we do to deal with bears that appear to be showing up more and more in our backyards and neighborhoods? Kerri-Lee Mayland and Kevin Nathan went searching for answers.

The cycle of killing is obviously necessary. The HSUS chick supported that point when she said the population will continue despite planned harvests.

I was going to move to Connecticut later on close to nyc. I can't deal with a bear breaking into my house. I'll look into NJ near NYC

NJ has bears too as does upstate ny. nYC has a slew of issues. Connecticut is not as littered with bears as you may think either

@@spazysmalls I know some parts of NJ have bears. What part of Connecticut doesn't have bears that's a black surburban area?

@@mmcdonald1000 there is a bear sighting map that you can look up. Basicailly almost all of CT has had bearing sightings bht that doesnt mean they have a ton of bears or you’ll hqve a high likelihood of seeing ine. I live in watwrbury and ive never seen a bear before. The farther you move to the left side of CT, the higher the bear population but keep in mind 1200 bears approximately in the entire state is a very small number. Just stay away from the more wooded areas like ridgefield, litchfield, canaan, etc

And before the number of bears were almost extinct because hunters don’t care they just want to hunt down and kill something.

Hunting is necessary to control their populations. I value human life more than any animal.

We should never kill the bears. They have been here longer then we have homes so no killing of bears just avoiding then is what we need to do

Yea right not enough woods anywhere around here in CT where bears could live good lives. Catch them and bring them to the Wilderness

I don’t agree leave them alone just and stop traumatizing the bears just lock up your house everything

The aggressive bears & those entering human property is a threat to the kids living inside. 9.5feet high Black Bears will not coexist with your 2 year old dum dums.
