Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds,-and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of-wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there, I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung My eager craft through footless halls of air .... Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace Where never lark nor ever eagle flew- And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand, and touched the face of God. John Gillespie Magee Jr. (1922-1941)
WELL DONE....I only read the beginning of the poem and immediately thought of WWII P-47 pilot, CAPTAIN CHARLES MOHRLE. I was certain he had penned this poem. Perhaps he recited the Poem but was not the author. He closes his presentation in part by reciting this poem...Regardless, I have posted links to his presentation(s) many times. I will not say more than I can not emphasize enough for those who have never seen, watched and listened to his presentation to do so if have never seen. Due to reading this I assume you have interest in the subject. Gurantee will not be disappointed. RIP Captain Mohrle , P-47 PILOT, WWII VET. He was one of the original pilots assigned to the 510th Fighter Squadron, part of the 405th Fighter Group in South Carolina, which entered combat in Christchurch, England in 1943. He completed 97 combat missions flying a P-47 and was highly decorated. Among other recognition, he received the Distinguished Flying Cross and 16 Air Medals. He flew over the beaches of Normandy on D-Day and his Squadron was personally recognized by George S Patton for its support of the Third Army in France (Battle of the Bulge)
So appropriate since Magee was a Spitfire pilot flying with 412 Squadron RCAF in WW2. One of the aircraft in the video sports the maple leaf RCAF roundel. Magee flew several sorties, once being the sole survivor of a four-ship formation attacked by Luftwaffe fighters with the other pilots all killed in the action. Magee himself was killed in a mid-air collision with a training aircraft.
Thank you @JPFerre for making this video, though my Grand-Father was a Hawker Hurricane pilot and not Spitfire pilot till after the war, hearing that fine Gentleman describe what it was like to fly a Spit reminds me so much of the memories I had of spending time talking flying with my Grand-Father (RCAF Hurricane, Spitfire and finally CF-100 Canuck) before he passed, then later spending time talking flying with my Father (RCAF CF-104 Star-Fighter Pilot) who sadly is also gone now. But again I can not say thank you enough though I'm sitting here with a few tears running down my face your video has triggered so many happy memories to come back to me that I had forgotten I'm just flooded with emotions of rememberance and honour that I got to spend timt with 2 amazing airmen from 2 different era's. So again, Thank you. Please keep up the amazing work. Your video's are truly amazing.
Unfortunately that fine gentleman was an AI voice-over as mentioned in the description of the video. I wish a true WW2 veterans voice-over would have been used or just some original quotes from one as subtitles. Everything is AI today, in a few years human fighter pilots will too be a thing of the past and replaced by AIs.
@@roym.dossantos AI it may have been, but the tone and the sentiments expressed came straight from the heart of those veterans to whom we owe so much. My father, gone now these 25 years, rarely spoke of his war, but he flew Spitfire Vs against the Germans and then Spitfire VIIIs in North Australia. The war over, he never flew again.
Well, I loved it, because you had the famed "Grey Nurse" Mark VIII, Australian 457 Squadron plane in your trio of Spits! I've flown in the two seat version with the same paint scheme, and it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. Bloody Awesome mate!
"The heavens were the grandstands and only the gods were spectators. The stake was the world, the forfeit was the player's place at the table, and the game had no recess. It was the most dangerous of all sports and the most fascinating. It got in the blood like wine. It aged men forty years in forty days. It ruined nervous systems in an hour." - Elliott White Springs
Some glory days which people fought against oppression and terror, if only those veterans could live today to see what became of their heritage. Well done mr Ferre.
We were all propagandised into that foolish war. Just as we've been propagandised into the decadence and degeneracy that weakens our European sons and daughters today.
👏👏👏👏👌👍👀...absolutely beautiful film, brilliantly edited!!!...fantastic job pal!!!.. loved it!!!....a great tribute to the brave airmen and fantastic Spitfires!!!!!...awesome!!🙏👏👏😁
This actually bought a lump to my throat and a tear to my eye. It awesome. It’s was great to see this and even though just computer generated, it’s breath taking. Nice seeing Clostermann’s LO-D taking down a focke wulf.
I feel sorry for the generations to come, because they will never feel in their hearts what it all really means, they will never regret it, because they will never know what they lost.
I will never have the opportunity to feel it's beauty, but even as a newcomer to this world, I can still gaze on in awe, that this marvel of engineering will be forever remembered.
Very Very nice well done. i had the privilege a few years back to attend the Duxford airshow from South Africa Johannesburg and to see all those Spitfires in flight and the sound that they make was absolutely a lifetime experience for me, i will never forget it. Pierre Joubert South Africa
Oh my God, that was beautiful! Such a spectacular usage of liveries and excellent cinematography. Great music selection and the audio was top notch. Truly amazing work.
Bravo! The visuals surpassed all expectations, coupled with the meticulously chosen music, resulting in an astonishing display deserving of our utmost appreciation and respect. Yet, this goes beyond a mere recording of a computer flight simulator video game, specifically the Supermarine Spitfire. I dare say, it surpasses any of your previous projects, including those that garnered awards, and even outshines the works of many other talented content creators. It transcends even the trailers produced by ED, consistently lauded by the DCS community. This production stands apart for several subtle reasons, some of which may go unnoticed. An award is undoubtedly warranted for the scriptwriter, and another for the voice actor who delivered it with such finesse. One could almost experience the entire production without seeing it, solely through the powerful narration. I highly recommend starting from the beginning, this time with the volume turned up, immersing oneself in the experience. The voice-over artist deserves recognition for delivering the script with impeccable timing, tone, and emotion, evoking the gravitas of a WWII veteran addressing us directly. The seamless integration of these elements, among others, culminates in what can only be described as a masterpiece-an impactful and relevant work of art. P.S. It's unclear if this production was released today intentionally or coincidentally. Nonetheless, given the events of this week and those of historical significance 79 years ago, particularly the collapse of the Third Reich, it's a moment for reflection. Imagine the young men who played pivotal roles in shaping the future, ensuring opportunities and a better world for generations to come. Their sacrifices should never be forgotten, and we must honor their memory. Thanks to them, we've experienced moments of joy and growth, shaping our lives in ways unimaginable to today's youth. Let's never forget the lessons imparted by the Greatest Generation. Their sacrifices should inspire us to uphold the values they fought for. As we navigate our paths, let us heed the wisdom of America's founding fathers and choose our actions wisely. Thomas Jefferson, one of America's Founding Fathers bestowed upon us much wisdom. The following is applicable to the present for all people. "WHEN THE PEOPLE FEAR THE GOVERNMENT WE HAVE TYRANNY... WHEN THE GOVERNMENT FEARS THE PEOPLE YOU HAVE LIBERTY"... THOMAS JEFFERSON
