Nice, I don't know why GM "engineers" made some stuff on these overly easy and other stuff almost impossible. A couple of your videos helped me tackle a few jobs on mine. Thanks! 👍✌️
Very nice video. Got the same engine in my 07 lacrosse. Starter appears to be a dead short now, it's got to go. My biggest fear is breaking a manifold bolt. I called gm dealer and shop time is 1.2 hour. I want to have them do it, but they are charging a right leg for the starter. I know they probably won't let you buy your own for them to install. That's the hold back for me right now.
Thanks, man. My wife's 2011 Enclave has the same symptoms. Sometimes you turn the key and _silence_. Sometimes it starts, but labors a little bit. I replaced the battery because we did kill the old one, but the problem persists. It does make one wonder if the problem is as simple as a loose connection on the starter, but to your point, if you are going to the trouble to get to that nut, you may as well replace the whole thing.
I just did the starter on my 2011 Acadia today. Definitely one of the worst jobs! I let all the catalytic converter and exhaust bolts soak with penetrating fluid overnight and then was able to impact them off. But I swear everything on this job has something else in the way. I learned lots of new swear words and I didn't even try to film most of it - just filmed the steps after they were completed. I will hopefully finish putting everything back together tomorrow and see if the vehicle will start.

If your starter didn't die yet it will leave you stranded soon enough. The signs of the starter going bad are slow starts, similar to a weak battery. I switch batteries twice before realizing that it was a starter. I ignored the weak starts thinking the warm weather would buy me some time and I found myself replacing the starter today in my driveway as I got stranded and also cranked it so much it shorted and started taking out ecm and pcm fuses and causing erratic dash behavior.
@@OZONESALthis is what I needed to hear. I know this is old but I’ve been on a deep dive for about two months tracing pcm and ecm codes. Now I’ve realized all the cranking has likely caused the fuse issues and codes. Thanks

Hi, I was curious. Did any messages display inside while you were having issues? My 2010 Acadia started saying stablitrak and traction control off. Then the issues starting vehicle began for me.
No. We would turn the key and nothing would happen or there would be a delay before the engine would crank. I would suspect you might have a misfire situation based on those warnings.
