Oh my goodness, I loved this episode sooooo much! 🤯 Not just because Emily is my daughter but because with the help of people like Alex, her message will reach more and more women/girls etc. and they’ll be all the better off knowing this critically important information. Hmmm, I’m thinking maybe this should’ve been titled, “What your doctor will NEVER tell you”… 🤭 tee hee. So proud of anyone who dares to speak up and tell the truth. It’s long overdue. Congratulations girls, you rock! 🤩😇🥰
Love that she says raw milk is best. My daughter had the worst eczema our pediatrician had ever seen, she was on topical steroids just to make her skin not painful. Within a year of starting raw milk, and lathering her skin with coconut oil, she was completely off of her steroid and her skin is mostly healed! 🙌
Yes! Same story with my daughter!
Oh my goodness my friend's little boy. Poor little guy it was so bad.
Where do you get it?
Interesting! I'm buying my first batch of raw milk next week and my son has eczema. Hopefully we see an improvement!
My son who is now 5 was going through horrible cycles of eczema with topical cream. I decided to look online for adults who have dealt with chronic eczema and how they treated it naturally. We do oatmeal baths. It was the best thing ever for his skin. He hasn’t been on the cream for 2 years and rarely has flair ups. If he does, they are small and a few baths stop it.
I live in NC and i was buying raw milk from a local farmer and the bottles said not for human consumption. She said that because it is illegal to sell raw milk for humans in NC she has to sell it like that. But, she said to be compliant with the laws she has to sell it that way, but she is not responsible for what us as her customers do with it. Lol I just think that it is hysterical that raw milk is illegal but it’s ok to give our kids lucky charms for breakfast?? Makes absolutely no sense to me.
Preach 🙌
And by pasteurizing and homogonizing it, it strips it of all its nutrients… then they add fake ones back in. 😞
Where are you getting raw milk in NC? I live in NC too and I am struggling to find any place that carries it. I can find local farms or farmer markets but none sell it. I have even tried SC because I live relatively close to SC border.... If you can let me know I would appreciate it. Thanks!!!
I’m scared of the risk honestly. I feel like I need to get a cow and do it all myself. Make sure everything is done right.
I buy non homogenized local milk that's lightly treated. That's the compromise that I make for my toddler.@@magicmarie8403
I LOVED this episode. My husband and I I’ve been dealing with infertility for the past 5 years. I’ve gone to multiple OB/GYN‘s and fertility experts and got the same answer every time, which is “you’re fine everything looks good down there“ the same with my husband. The next step was to go on Clomid which something was telling me not to, there is a deeper problem. I took a hair analysis test this past summer and discovered that I was extremely low in certain things or too high in others and that I had extremely clear signs of hypothyroidism and adrenal fatigue. I started looking more in to diet and foods to avoid and to add in and I feel a lot better. Hopefully it will lead to pregnancy soon🙏🏻
Keep us updated please! I know someone with infertility issues. Thank you ❤ I hope you're blessed with a pregnancy & healthy baby
Good thing you didn’t take clomid!! Healing your body is better in the long run instead of making your body do something and then your body relies on medication.
I did carnivore for 6 months and the last 2 months of that six months I also did Fast Like a Girl. It is fasting specifically for women so we maintain a cycle and feed our hormones when they need it, and fast at optimal points for health. I was pregnant by the end of that 6 months. A total of 2 years of trying. Idk if you want to try either, just thought I would share. I had the same issue, no one ever found a problem and I realized it was a nourishment issue through research. Discovered ketosis and proper fasting aid in fertility and tried both. I'll never know if it was one or the other but frankly I think Fast Like a Girl helped the most with my cycles but carnivore healed my gut and brain frog. I hope this helps
@athomewiththemrs9410 how are you doing now?
You should have my husband come on. He runs a plumbing company and he can tell everyone of all sorts of different filtration system and what type you need for your house.
A CUTEservative 'handy in the home' series! I would love that! I love tackling home projects, but have no one handy in my family.
OMG this needs more likes... I would love to see this series @realalexclark @@aubreylyne
Oh my lord!!! I’ve literally been praying about nutrition! Not trusting what’s on the shelves, wanting to do better, simultaneously my husband changing his farming practices and learning and integrating regenerative agriculture!! We just had a baby (horrible birth-so many interventions) and I’ve been looking for this info!! Info to change habits, gut health, hormones, etc. Thank you Alex!!! And Emily!!
So excited that talking about hormones is on the trend! Women need to learn their bodies, that's TRUE empowerment. 🙌🏻
Me watching this knowing I’ve started taking my baby in the carrier for 1-3 miles everyday! 🎉
Good for you mama!!
That’s amazing! 💪🏼💪🏼
People laughed at me in the airport 😢
What carrier do you use? ... I've got 2 &..idk lol i always feel concerned that the baby will fall
I’m drinking my coffee on an empty stomach while wearing my Apple Watch and listening with my Bluetooth headphones. 😆 Feeling pretty good about most of the other stuff though. 😅
Same girl. lol
Absolutely loooved this episode 😍 I think not drinking coffee on an empty stomach first thing in the morning is going to be my biggest challenge. And the fact that I sometimes don't feel like eating anything until late afternoon…😬 I learned a lot and am looking forward to being a healthier version of myself this year!
I felt the same! I’ve been doing it now for several months and I’ve never felt better
I was the same!! For years I thought it was normal to not feel hungry in the morning. I am so much better about having break now and I feel the difference!
I started doing this about 3 months ago and it is a game changer! You got this! 💪🏻
I’ve been doing this for a week since I watched the other podcast with the Dr. Leah Gordon. I hope it helps me with leveling things out.
Me too girl
Sooo I have watched this 3 times, and I love this episode. I have been health obsessed for a long time and I am my own guinea pig too! After listening to this and talking with some other women and following a naturalist obgyn I am on the right path now. BUT after watching this and doing some of the things in the mornings I haven't tried yet, I am already down 3 lbs in 3 days and feel soooooo much better! Seriously drinking water first thing and already having to work outside with livestock and not being hungry until 2 pm and drinking coffee on an empty stomach....killed me! Now after the last 3 days I am LIVING!
Yes to all of this!! Biohacking our way into 2023!!! As someone in her late 20s who recently started her cycle syncing and biohacking journey this was so helpful! Excited for the rest of this month’s guests!!!!! 💕
I’m so glad to hear she was raised this way! I was raised more health conscious as well and it shocks me not more people are not aware of this crap! Love the theme of this month! I’m so excited for this!!
I have 4 kids and I try to eat really well. I agree with a lot of what she says. Here is how I save money: track your cycle- temping is free, make bone broth from chicken bones (roast a whole chicken for dinner and then after you eat the meat use the bones for broth), save veggie scraps for your broth, bake your own sourdough, frozen organic fruit is a lot cheaper than fresh fruit, make your own yogurt (I buy raw milk and make my own yogurt with it), basically cook from scratch it’s so cost effective and awesome for you.
I got off birth control after a decade and lost 40 lbs. changing nothing else. I’m about 6 months after going off the pill. Wild, didn’t see that coming. It just fell off. What led me to getting off was not only wanting a baby but my PMS symptoms were getting worse and worse on the pill also.
Taking notes like 🤓📝
Literally here with my notebook and pen☺️✨
So so soooo good!!! I’ve struggled with hormonal cystic acne for the last 3 years! I’ve had sooo many health issues that Ive been on a journey to figuring out that they’re all related to my hormones (estrogen dominance). I feel so empowered to keep going and figure out how to heal my body! This is amazing info!!
The BEST episode to date! I have always loved this stuff and this really spoke to my heart and soul!
I pulled this episode up as soon as I woke up this AM. So informative, favorite episode by far!!!
The sole reason I've been taking birth control is to skip periods and control exactly when I get it. My mood and energy still fluctuates so much throughout the month. It's worst the final week of the cycle and I feel like I can run all day at the beginning.
Guess I need to decide if controlling my period and having less of them is worth the damage it's doing to my hormones and body. I know the answer is probably to stop taking them but :: sigh :: this is going to be rough... 😞
As much as I don't want to hear this, I need to watch the rest of the episode. God give me the strength to get off this toxic med 🙏
I’ve always made my own tortilla chips. I use organic corn tortillas and fry them in avocado oil or lard! So good and cheap to make.
Where do you find organic corn tortillas? That’s the one thing I haven’t been able to find
i get nauseous in the morning sometimes, but i’ve found that the trader joe’s prosciutto mozzarella volpi sticks are a great way to get some fat and protein right away…especially for people with an egg ick!
I get the egg ick and it makes me so sad! 😫 I've found I can do poached eggs, it the only way I can eat them. So, I start every morning with sourdough and a poached egg.
Omg that sounds amazing
1) I live in a state where raw milk is illegal. I am afraid to ask around where I can get it from a safe/hygienic source.
2) How on earth do I filter my tap water? Can we buy something for our kitchen sink? I can't afford a Berkey, as much as I would love it.
3) I'm a mouth breather at night...my husband is gonna laugh so hard when this tape comes from Amazon...🤦♀️🤣
What mouth tape did you order off Amazon?😅
Loved this episode. I suffer from SIBO aka Leaky Gut and eating whole real foods has been such a life saver for me. I suffered from bloat, joint pain and swelling, migraines, vomiting after eating certain foods, and fatigue all on a regular basis. About 3 years ago I went to a naturopath doctor and she suggested I change my diet and implemented some natural supplements. I am a whole new person it has helped me with all of my symptoms. With this episode I found myself thinking finally there are people who are really understanding and digging deep into what truly is good healthy food.
Ok, never left a comment on this podcast before… but I’m 48 minutes and 15 seconds in and I have to pop in to say this episode is bomb. 🔥🙌🏽 Learning so much!!
Isn't it?!?! I will probably be a repeat listener on this episode!
Sameeee!
Before I even finished the episode, I knew it was going to be a favorite!
I totally took notes and am making a trip to Whole Foods, Natural Grocers. I’m also tossing ALL of my oils and cleaning products!
What do you do if you start work before the sun rises? I start at 5am, no light within the first 30mins for sure… can one of those artificial sun lights or happy lights be a good substitute?
The concept of being able to wake up *with* energy is blowing my mind! I seriously struggle and have for a while with getting out of bed in the morning. This is SO helpful!!
My hormones changed a lot when I was 30.5-31.5, getting back on track with new supplements such as beef liver, placenta and omega supplements. I absolutely shifted including some hair loss and my skin definitely changed. Eliminating as much toxic household products and toxic foods as possible dramatically helps in the long term
this episode changed everything for me and sent me down a rabit hole! I've been following emily's principles and clean eating for a month.
I’m so glad that the toxicity in our food and products are coming to light! I hope 2023 we’ll demand companies to do better.
So happy the truth is coming to light!
Does anyone know what Emily thinks about intermittent fasting? I’d love to know her opinion on that.
As a women that attempted intermittent fasting skipping breakfast, I got results at first then staggered. When I started eating breakfast and lunch instead and skipped dinner it was life changing. It healed my hormones and regulated my cycles. Our female hormones need to know that there is nourishment first thing in the morning or else they say, "there's not food we can't make a baby" and they skip the period.
One of your best episodes! So happy about all I learned
I'm so glad to hear someone talk like this. As women, we are trained to hate our natural bodies and see them as the enemy. We are always trying to control them. We need to learn to listen to and understand our bodies. We need to start loving our bodies the way they are naturally and work with them. I'm so glad she teaches this. ❤
Sue Becker of Bread Beckers would be an awesome interview for a different opinion on bread and gluten. She talks about the Bible and health in an awesome way, it was the inspiration for the biggest part of my healthy new life 8.5 years ago. She talks about Joseph and the years of famine, and how he stored GRAIN, which is the thousand plus year shelf stable, most nutrient rich of all foods. I tossed all my chemical makeups, lotions, etc 8 years ago, switched to Branch Basics that long ago too, back when they were working from a different iteration of their formula before they shut down production for over a year. I used to be able to get raw milk where we lived, which was awesome, and I have been grinding my own grain to make my own bread and bread products - tortillas, pizza dough, muffins, pancakes, soft pretzels, pie crust, cakes, cookies - for 8.5 years now with great success. I have had 4 babies in these years and I am healthy in my 30s!
This guest was awesome, I agree with most of but not all of what she said. I understand gluten is a problem for her particularly, but I do have a disagreement with anyone calling bad-for-everyone things that God gives us as a gift in the Bible. Also!! - you can grind grain and make break products without using gluten, if you need to, and still reap lots of benefits! I love she was talking about birth control - I never once allowed any of those chemicals into my body.
There’s actually no such thing as GMO wheat grown in the world. It was proposed and shut down years ago, no one wanted it domestically or worldwide, so the whole scheme was totally cancelled, so that was one place she was wrong. Now maybe she’s talking about processed bread products that have GMO corn / soy in them, I don’t know. But wheat specifically - heat red, hard white, soft red, soft white wheats - no GMO. @1:06:53 but I’m glad organic sourdough works for her! I do use all organic grains for my grinding and baking too.
Yes to Sue Becker! I discovered her when I lived in GA and she's so full of wisdom and knowledge! Love her and freshly milled flour for baking all my bread, pies, cookies, pizza, etc!
New favorite episode! Sharing with every woman I know!
Hands down favorite episode so far..I didn't think anything was going to dethrone Dr. Jess' episode
This was amazing! Sending this to all my friends!
Hey Alex, I love all the health and wellness podcasts you do! I’m in healthcare and I see all the broken pieces and at times predatory practices of the US healthcare system. I listened to your opinion about sponsors A LOT. Maybe more than I should for my wallet’s sake 😆 thanks to you we use bumroll and Aleavia in our household.
I also ordered some Nimi Skincare and used Good ranchers for a few months. I’m always a little bummed when you do awesome podcasts like this one but then have inconsistencies with your advertising of these two brands.
I stopped using Good ranchers when I found out their meats are actually GRAIN FINISHED. They try to make a case about how that’s healthier in their website. Doubtful.
Also, nimi skincare has a TON of endocrine disrupting and high risk cancer causing ingredients in their products (among them, a ton of PEGs).
Just FYI maybe you haven’t realized these things about these two products you advertise.
Still love your show, still listen all the time!
Love this !! What about juicing organic veggies like beets, celery, carrots, cucumbers, apples, etc??
While full of nutrition, there’s zero fiber and tons of sugar in most juices (excluding celery, cucumber, spinach) just depends on what you want to achieve. Great for healing… but ask Emily 😊
Need time stamps
Amazing episode I LOVED it!
Alex! You should kind someone to talk to about water. Simply water 💧
Pms optional… what about people with endometriosis? Now it used to be a LOT worse before I lost weight, (still losing, still overweight), started eating better, and changed my mental state.
But I can’t see myself not feeling pain during a period. Menstrual Discs helped so much, but the pain is still debilitating. I can keel over and throw up due to the pain.
Like I said, it’s better than it was when I was worse in health decisions, but it’s still bad.
Thank you so much for explaining the female hormone cycle. I was literally just telling my husband that I'm weaker since last week. Crying a little. Thank you
I’m doing everything wrong… LOL I’m a mess. Gonna try to implement some of these so I don’t die tomorrow.
I implemented eating before coffee about 3 months ago and it was a game changer! If anything, start with that one!
Same, girl, same! Will try the coffee after bfast too!!
Loved this episode! Can't wait for the rest of the month!
Raw milk will change your worldview ❤️😍🤠 also an episode in food regulations/laws (like raw milk) throughout the US would be so interesting. I'd love to hear an expert in the politics/money behind making these wholesome foods illegal and pushing seed oils/etc.
After I had my first baby, my hormones regulated so fast, where as before pregnancy they has been off for probably my whole life, I had my second baby nearly 6 months ago, my baby came 6 weeks early, I had a hard induction and my body has not been the same since! It’s been awful to deal with, and my cycles are very short now although my midwife says it’s still in the “normal range”, I don’t always ovulate. I’ve felt so stuck and I know if I go to a doctor it will be pointless. So glad I stumbled upon this podcast!
Love this episode!!! LMNT though does have natural flavors and HU just tested poorly on a heavy metal test 😭 so hard to find things that aren’t green washed but it’s SO worth being that person in the aisle! Getting off birth control changed everything for me and now I tell every girl I know to get away from it!!!
Yes about the Hu chocolate - I’m so bummed about all of the healthy brands that are showing very high lead in the dark chocolate!!
@@ktgrl1818 same!!
I have totally noticed my facial structure changing during ovulation!
Such a great episode! It was a perfect way to kick off season 4 and the new year!
Does anyone remember the website Alex mentioned about how we can find out if a certain food is good for us or not? Really want more resources to truly see what is healthy.
You can make your own Gatorade! True. Salt, lemon, honey or maple syrup.
Amazing !!! Thank you so much for sharing! Need to watch 3 more times lol! Would you be able to put a list of the products you love and recommend?
So true! I took birth control right out of high schooland it was horrible, i never felt right. I cried all the time, gained weight, sex was painful, and i begged my boyfriend for me to get off. I was naive and young and thought I needed his approval, so when he said no i obeyed. When he broke up with me I got off and bled through all of my clothes and soaked the bed. I thought i was dying. I had only been on it a year but i could not get my hormones right after. Everytime i went to a doctor they would try to get me back on it. I really felt like they were feeding me lie like you said. It always felt so wrong and they would not take no for an answer. It's so wrong.
The ice-cream trucks bring back bad memories for all of us. The bug was having an excellent day until he hit the windshield. She discovered van life is difficult with 2 cats and a dog.
I have started my seed oil free journey, and holy smokes.. when they say it’s in everything they mean every thing!! Even the things that I thought were organic and safe still had hidden seed oils.
What do we think about siete chips this has been my replacement chip
I’ve been following Emily for about a year after a friend recommended her. I’ve had at least 5 friends follow her since. As a millennial, living off stress hormones wrecked my body and following Emily has been transformational. I’m so grateful for her content and SO EXCITED she’s getting extra promo on the Spillover 🫶🏻💖🙌🏻
My fiancé does ruck runs always! Big thing in the military.
My husband is in the Air Force loves a good ruck run!!!
Alex, I would love to talk to you about rucking. If you’re going to ruck please please please have good shoes and good body mechanics. Make sure you don’t have flat feet. If you do, don’t go cheap on your shoes and get custom orthotics. Flat feet are more common in women and pregnancy cases the ligaments to relax making the issue worse. Some women in the military who ruck end up with back, hip, knee and foot issues. Excessive loading can hurt you if you’re not careful even if it’s just your child. This is coming from an ex Army Nurse Corps Officer who rucked and has children!! Feel free to ask me any questions. We had to do a 15 mile ruck march for time to pass officer training.
Thank you for you service, and you are spot on I am a Woman Marine and still have marks on my hips where the packs cut into my skin. Most rucksacks are not built for us either
This episode was so helpful and I love that Emily gives practical tips as well. Alex asked some great questions and I definitely learned areas that I can grow in lol. I’m looking forward to the next health/wellness podcast episode🥰.
I’ve justified so many things that I’ve purchased based off the coffee analogy… 😂 And I don’t even drink coffee.
This was SUCH a good episode!! I have caught bits and pieces of this info in different places but here it is all in one place!
So excited for this whole month : )
You can count your Macros and still be clean that's what I do I've seen the biggest change in my body when I started counting macros to make sure I'm getting enough protein but I eat clean organic food.
What about nail polish? I saw something recently that noted that non natural nail polishes are horrible for your hormones because your nail bed soaks in those chemicals.
Clove Hill supplements are a great brand as well. The vitamin A (skin clarity) supplements REALLY helped clear my skin of acne. Obviously along with other dietary changes.
Here in NY it's illegal to get raw milk. You have to buy a share of the cow (meaning you "own" the cow) in NY in order to get raw milk. I hate this state. It's almost impossible to be healthy in NY.
This was such a good episode! Already started drinking more water & opening the widows first thing in the morning!
I have gotten so used to fasting until noon and drinking caffeine on an empty stomach that eating when I wake up / before drinking coffee is sooo hard! Literally no freaking appetite!
Love ❤️ this episode. Simple changes I can make but just wasn’t aware of them. Thank you for doing this episode!
Anyone have reccomendations on water filtration systems?
I tape my mouth so my throat doesn't dry up as much when I sleep, I don't like as much the brand she suggests but it works. And if you snore, it helps too. I use a brand on amazon that is like an X
Also - one of my favorite episodes.
Alex, have you tried celery juice first thing in the morning, then wait 30 minutes before water or food.....will help you become regular.
59:23 siete chips is THE BEST for potato chips and tortilla chips
I’ve been thinking about the Oura ring especially since it works with Natural Cycles! But I was wondering about EMF’s, so this is good to know! 😍
Talk to Sue Becker about eating bread the right way! She is amazing!
Yes!! Amen to Sue Becker! She's helped so many people learn how to bake bread with freshly milled flour! So much better for us!
Rewatching tomorrow to take notes 📝
I'm with you. I thoroughly enjoyed this but know I will forget if I don't write it down
I have my own janitorial service and It’s so hard to find non toxic cleaning products in bulk with out going broke 😣
Simple Green?
This was a great show. I learned so much. Good job Alex.
This is THE BEST episode! I freaking loved it!
Okay, FLO has Chasteberry in it. Just buy that, its cheaper and it helped me get my period back after having a ton of issues with birth control in Highschool.
This is a great episode! Signing up today for Emily’s course!
I mean to be honest I love Blake Lively for the role of Lily! It’s been awhile since she had an amazing role so I’m stoked!
Such a good episode, I’m gonna have to watch it again!
SO FREAKIN GOOD!! 4th time watching this. OBSESSED!
I LOVE pot roast for breakfast 🤩
Soo so good!!!! Following her now and thank you for all the great info- got myself some garnuu on the way too lmao 😂❤🎉
Wait, was she going to say something about Heart and Soil beef liver??? That's what I take. Is Ancestral better? Heart and Soil good or bad?
I agree with a lot of what is being said here but does she have any evidence based research or peer reviewed articles that she can source? Saying Magnesium is “good for a lot of things and underrated” isn’t all that helpful.
Maybe someone knows this: but what if there is literally no sun? Where I live in winter it is still dark as night out. For at least three months I'll walk in the office before the sun is even set to rise. What are your options then?
Light therapy.
BRB looking for A2 milk ASAP
THANK YOU FOR THIS EPISODE
I have no pain whatsoever and literally only know it’s coming because I track it- otherwise it would be a surprise!
So good. Thank you.
What about well water? I’ve always assumed it’s better.
How does the aura ring work on airplane mode 30:12 ???
That sounds awesome!
I am already on the wired headphone Trend
