I am so thankful for this message. It has been a year and a half since my child has spoken to me. BUT I trust the Lord everyday with her. She will come back! Amen and Amen!
Please pray for our prodigal! He is 27 years old. We love him so much. He left Adult and Teen Challenge, and hit the streets. He was doing okay for a while, because he wanted to share the Gospel. My husband and i didn't pick him up and bring him home. Now he is back with his drug friends. He told us he was somewhere else. Then he showed up at my mother-in-law's house high as a kite with his 3 drug friends. She wouldn't let him in. We were thankful, because she doesn't need trouble. He lied to us to get us to send him money. It has been so confusing, because we want to see him restored. I hate the things he does, because he is hurting himself more even than he hurts us. Anyway, just please pray! He has 3 beautiful children that he doesn't see too. 😢
My heart aches for my eldest Grandaughter a Prodigal who literally spent her inheritance whilst with me controlling demanding and angry. I threw her out but I still love her so much and pray she finds the Lord every day every night too
The converse is also true. People have praised me for having great kids, but I always say that I taught them the truth; it is the child's responsibility to respond to it. I was very intentional, and part of me wants to receive praise, but I know I am thankful that they have responded well.
Please pray for us. 3 years he’s been away. He’s only 18. He has made horrific allegations against us - thus the reason he’s away. I’m weary. I don’t know what is true anymore.
Many a parent have apologized. A prodigal child can be too stubborn, too arrogant to accept the apology, the opportunity to start over. In many cases parents emotional well-being are being held hostage by their adult child.
My son, turn prodigal now 16yrs later 😢 landed him jail once again for third time, I still love him anyway, he now facing consequences in jail cell I pray he comes to him self.
Jesus Christ, this is just so very powerfully striking and truth that really got some demons out of me, along with tears. I need to watch and listen to this super video many, many times. Thank you Lord for this beautiful gift you gave me today, it's exactly what I needed so badly to have. Thank you Phil Waldrep for being such a great God's messanger. Blessings for you all.
I would encourage you to not see him as a "prodigal" any more. The father in that parable was continually looking for, AND EXPECTING his TRANSFORMED son's return. Then REJOICE!!! Really FEEL the wondrous glory and joy of it every time you think of him. REJOICE THAT WHEN YOU ASK IT IS GIVEN UNTO YOU. Underline "IS"! That's an "ALREADY DONE" ACT - FACT.
Thank you!!!!! This has helped me come to terms with some heartbreaking things in my family … and be a parent who has failed miserably, it has turned my eyes upon Jesus and gain new perspective! Thank you for the shackles that have broken off due to this message!!!🙏
Hi, Alison! We’re here to come alongside families with whatever help we can, and we are pleased that you were able to relate so personally to the content of our broadcast. May the Lord continue to bless, guide and encourage you as you seek Him day by day. Should you ever need a listening ear, please don’t hesitate to give our counselors a call. Here’s the contact info: bit.ly/3eguwRY. Peace and blessings to you!
I went to a service at Church of Christ who preached that it very much is the fault of the parent and especially pointed out nurturing vanity in your child. My mother was convicted in her heart and began to ball uncontrollably. Had this minister spoke on forgiveness and forgiven yourself for being an imperfect parent rather than a perfect parent in a troubled deficient society she would not be having these mental and physiological responses. Mind you, she was 64 when we heard this sermon and I think it was cruel and abusive
I am currently a mother of 4 and I blame myself almost every day for the way my oldest son is behaving. I pray daily for him and for myself. I am so sorry to hear this happened to your mother. I couldn’t imagine my pastor putting the blame on me 😢
Hello, friend! We're sorry we don’t have the resources to add captions to most of our videos at this time. Our digital team is working on this. In the meantime, please know that there are written transcripts for most of our programs here - bit.ly/3N9BcC9. We hope this is helpful.
@@focusonthefamily I checked the link you posted here. A Search bar would be helpful on that page! I tried a few choices and couldn’t find this “Praying for your prodigal” program. Thanks…and I love Focus on the Family and your faithfulness to the Lord all these years!

I’m grateful my prodigal knows the Lord, heard his voice and was called to be save and baptized early. He’s been away 8yrs, he is intelligent, creative and can be successful at anything. I was a dismissive avoidant through my trauma. I pray we both heal and become whole and reconnect in love on earth and in heaven in Jesus’s name. I pray for us all. ✝️🙏🏽💜
I have discovered that our children can easily be influenced by their peers who convince them that believing in Christ is ignorant and childish, and now that they have been enlightened, they realise that that Christianity is just a fairy story. .
He's not saying that parents have not sinned, but that children make their own choices. All parents sin. Even with the best Christian parenting, children may choose their own will over God's.

I really don’t believe . Scripture says raise them in the way of lord they will depart a lot people do not apply that promise because it’s hard to swallow

I prayed for my Prodigal and she came back to the Lord and was baptized. I now pray for my 2 other Prodigals

Wow! A truly amazing message full of godly instructions for dealing with prodigals. Thank you!
I love this counseling because it tells me that I might be okay as a parent. I admit my mistakes as a parent.
No one is perfect - all have missed the mark! I am praying my Prodigal back home! Amen.
The best way to love and support someone is to hold them accountable.

In any relationship, both people do something wrong. Parents must also confess our sin and receive forgiveness.
Many a parent have apologized. A prodigal child can be too stubborn, too arrogant to accept the apology, the opportunity to start over. In many cases parents emotional well-being are being held hostage by their adult child.

That is not a "church of Christ" belief; just a teaching of that particular local preacher. Try another congregation that is more sympathetic.
Such a blessing today 💖🙏

I really don’t believe . Scripture says raise them in the way of lord they will depart a lot people do not apply that promise because it’s hard to swallow
It says that when they are “old,” they won’t depart. It is a principle, though, and not a promise-some say.
Most parents have Zero self awareness.
All Prodigals have zero self awareness.
Same with most children
