Ooh that's cool, great grooves and progression in the arrangement. I imagine it's tricky to remember so many buttons. The colours look pretty. Hope you've been well!
Altogether excellent. I hope you will find time at some stage for a futher explanation of your Polyend Play discoveries. What defines "Musical instrument" over "Beatbox", for me at least, is whether imaginative input gets you musical results. Yours are strikingly different from those of other UA-camrs I've heard on the subject. To me, that's a great big plus. Thank you.
I appreciate the kind words! I've been using the Play a lot lately. If you have anything in particular you are curious about let me know and I'll have a think about how to translate that into something worth watching...
Thanks for doing this. How would you approach a multi-song set list approach? Each Play file takes awhile to load so would you try and make each "song" in your set a pattern or a cluster of patterns with their own variations? I guess the tricky thing for me is figuring out what I could do with the limited amount of RAM for samples... so each song might have to use overlapping samples? any ideas or insights?
Good question. I'm not actually sure. It's the same issue with a lot of devices. The Akai Force, Octatrack, Tracker... etc. The only one I haven't had that problem with is the Dirtywave M8 as it instantly loads projects. The Squarp Hapax also has the ability to run two concurrent projects which is cool, but it's a sequencer only. I think it depends on the type of music you are playing... if it's techno or pure electro you could do a 30 minute set evolving things fairly easily with the patterns and variations. But... if you treat it like a 'song' based set with separate projects, then you will need to find a way to fill the gap in between. Either by using FX to feedback/delay things, or to speak to the crowd. In those scenarios I tend to approach it like I am playing in a band, with each song very distinctive, and chat in between. Or... switch between two different devices for every song, which isn't ideal either.
@@StephenMcLeod ah! very helpful. good points. yeah, I could set up my OT as a looper to capture and put FX on stuff while I get ready for the next set of sounds. I appreciate the thoughtful response!
The Play looks so awesome, holy smokes and what a jam this turned out to be!! Love how this track evolved, such a sick piece!! Polyend Play album coming soon?! lol I could see this being used for a live set for sure man! 😮🐀
@@StephenMcLeod If you start pumping out more tracks like this out of this thing... 🤪 And I definitely want to see you midi out to a C64 and such too! 😁
