This reminds me of driving through the city for the first time when I was young. it was night and cool and man, everything looked so clean and bright. Thanks for sharing!
I gotta say, this might be my favorite track I have heard from u! Very magical sounding, intense rhythms with a perfect amount of complexity, I LOVE IT.

Yeah, the randomization options really rely on well-level-matched audio. I kind of like where they sit, but I agree they do push into the foreground quite a bit. And thanks!
The manual seems pretty straightforward, certainly worlds better than the Volca or Roland Boutique manuals. There are some oddities in using the Play, but mostly I found it pretty straightforward to get a pattern going quickly. And thanks!
@@JayHosking Love this set! Do you think the 8 tracks might be too limiting without the polyphony? Would you consider releasing sample packs for the Polyend Play?
@@touarec I'm considering putting together some sample packs, not specifically for the Play, but they would be compatible. I do think that 8 tracks is potentially limiting, but only because I end up using 4 for drums. There are samples that are major and minor chords, so you can cheat polyphony with the right samples; the bigger issue for me is that I only have about four tracks to work with for the melodic content. Still, it's such a fun device that the limitation is worth overcoming. And thanks!
I like toying with samples on the Digitakt, and the power/workflow of p-locks, etc. But I also find my Digitakt time feels too static. The Play (and Polyend's Tracker, too) feel so much more ready for dynamic, shifting performances. I think they're a better choice if you like your loops to vary constantly. But both have their strengths!
@@JayHosking thanks a lot for the response man. I see what you mean and totally get the appeal of the play. Unfortunately, im not as talented as you with picking up gear so i might just stick to getting the most outta my digi.
The melody line is played on the Play using a synth sample in the first "chorus". I liked the melody a lot and then doubled it (multi-tracked it) using the piano afterward.
@@g.l.4972 i love Jay Hosking way too much , to ever critizise him , so ill have a go on you (even tho , its not my favorite Hoskingianna) i take it you heard all the other tunes from Jay ? Punkassbitch :-)
This is an awesome piece, a great musical example, thank you so much for making it! Enjoying it a lot!
aaaa i want one of these so badly!!
LOVE your minimal style
Piano is a nice contrast to drums, very lovely!

As allways it’s a pleasure to see you jam. Very nice piece of glitchy music !!! Love it
Absolutely the best music I ever heard from Polyend Play.
It’s enjoyable watching such a musical human :)
The wonky chord caught me off guard in a great way. Fun to watch you play with your hardware, as always 👏
Sounds great.
You really built that up rewardingly to an exciting crescendo!
Brilliant and inspiring work as always

very nice, Jay- the piano is a great touch- creates a real mood.
Love this one.
I'm also in love with Polyend Play, very nice device :)
You do percussion so well.
Electro + piano = 🔥
Awesome Jay!
Super fun. That piano kicking in with the hectic beat gave me late period Nine Inch Nails feels. Nice.
beautiful
Really nice! Nice showcase of the Play as well. Thanks!
Great vid showcasing the Play. I just wish your head would stop getting in front of the camera, lol. Camera placement
Sadly I must be an oldster;🔥 the percussion gave me the sheets before the 30 second Mark.
Pollyend looks really interesting.
This gear is so much fun:)
Getting Westworld vibes from that flat 5 in the piano
insanely awesome and interesting!!!
Nice track man ❤
Really great jam by a great gear👌🎼
It would be good to hear music other than Aphex Twin-like stuff made with it.
That F sharp is so goood!
Great stuff! The Duke Nuke random sounds are super loud though! (Phone + headphones)

@@JayHosking I think the limiter feature is supposed to prevent that issue.
This piece kinda reminds me of what the word bonkers should sound like lol nice job Jay!!!
Quality !! 😎
Nice man
So fucking sick.
Que belleza!!
Great demo. How is the learning curve on this one? Hopefully not a Roland (boutique)1-sheet manual with small type!

Impressive and musical as per usual! How would this work with something like a digitakt? Is it too redundant?

what are those little feet underneath the Play? To keep it from moving I assume..🤔
It's a stand! Link is here: www.etsy.com/listing/1120276581/polyend-tracker-and-play-adjustable
great sound! super novice question, how do you record songs from this thing? can it connect to ableton or any other daw?
I simply recorded the stereo audio output from the Play, i.e. ran the headphone out to my DAW. And thanks!
Jay did you chop the piano samples up in the DAW and then import into the Play? Or is the Play just playing the entire loop?
The melody line is played on the Play using a synth sample in the first "chorus". I liked the melody a lot and then doubled it (multi-tracked it) using the piano afterward.
Sounds a bit too toy-ish..sorry
They’re samples. You can use whatever samples you want. So you’re not criticizing the device you’re criticizing his taste.
..you want me to criticize you too..punk?
