My thoughts on OCD and Acceptance

- I have a LOVE/HATE relationship with the word 'acceptance' and how that pertains to OCD recovery and mental health in general. Acceptance is NOT all roses and unicorns. It's tough, scary business. I'm sharing my feelings about this and how it pertains to my lived experience with OCD.

We love you chrissie, one of these days im gonna hire your peer support thank you so much 💕
Great video, thank you!
Thank you you are a inspiration.
acceptance is something ive been struggling and the emotions that bring like anger and sadness. But this last few days i took a step to be more gentle with myself and i realized that im ready to close that grief chapter.
Acceptance is all about behaving how you want to regardless of how you feel. It does take practice, but eventually with enough practice your brain will catch up.
@@potatomuffin4420 Is this what they call value based action?
@@scotchvelo yes
Thanks. It's hard because doing things I used to love and not getting the same (or any) joy and meaning is just brutal.
Please help me, i wanna know if i have The 'going crazy' theme of ocd or im actually going crazy. So, my trigger was in the streets, a mad you can say person was getting followed by the ambulance of psychiatric hospital. And that made me so scared to the fact the whole day i was checking if i am actually as mad and crazy as him. Now the problem is a thought popped up at night like:"what if im actually crazy and I don't know it?" or "what if im living in a illusion inside my mind?" And the scary thing is that i was so anxious to the fact i couldn't even differentiate between believing i was living that illusion or just worrying about it which striked the biggest anxiety panic i had all my life. These thoughts are actually making me go crazy.
Yep OCD
True acceptance includes accepting the non-acceptance of situation along with the acceptance of the situation.. just as we can't deny the situation similarly we can't deny our emotional reactions against the situation (parts of us that don't want to accept)..
i don't think it is intellectually possible to accept ..cuz the only reason we want to accept is because we don't want the situation
grieving, compassion, empathy are very helpful in acceptance
Really well said ❤️
Hello. I been suspecting that I had ocd since I am 10, but I did something that makes me fear that I am what I fear. I don't know if I can talk to you, and see if this could mean nothing.
Interesting. I been put into ACT based therapy as erp I avoided.. trying mindfulness with act.
Love your channel I'm free from religious intrusive thoughts sexual ocd
Can depression cause OCD as well? I was speaking with a mental health team the other day and told her about the intrusive thoughts as well as some stuff that went on. I also mentioned to her about the dreams that I had recently too. She said I sound like I have depression and referred me to psychologist.
Depression and OCD can be comorbid. If anything I'd say OCD could lead to Depression. It doesn't matter either way. Keep pushing forward and you'll get to the other side.
@@potatomuffin4420 do you think OCD could lead to squizophrenia because I did a research and it said there is a risk and I’m so so so scared about that I really think my life is over.
@@lupitapichardo5183 it's a common theme to have with OCD. I don't know if it does or not. If it did what would that mean for you? Your life? Would it change your goals and aspirations?
@@potatomuffin4420 im just really scared that if it does my life would be completely ruined I’m just so scared of it
@@lupitapichardo5183 Does schizophrenia ruin someone's life?
