    I have been hiking and backpacking since Boy Scouts. I am now 70 years young. I have watched hundreds ( if not thousands) of hiking videos. YOU sir give THE BEST info and insights of ANY hiker I have seen yet! Your turn by turns and info to get to the trailhead are spot on. Thank you for ALL you do for EVERY video man! Keep em coming!

    That looks just like the Marin Headlands trails I do here in the SF Bay Aea! I mean, it's exactly the same! Nice trails!

      Ha yea, it is really similar. Haven't been up there in a while but hoping to get back in the near future.

    Thank you for posting this great video! Crystal Cove has fantastic hiking trails. Aside from being beautiful in its own right, Crystal Cove is a perfect training ground for other projects. You can tune your own workout quite easily by going up/down the East Cut-off, West Cut-off Poles and others, and even doing repeats. Plus it's generally cooler by being close to the water. Enjoy it!!

      Yea, for sure. I hike here all the time because it's so easy to customize my training. The climbs are steep and good butt kickers. I find that after I do some steep repeats here, the longer gradual climbs in the big mountains are much easier. Say hello if you see me out there!

    I just did this loop on Tuesday and it was tougher than I thought it would be! AllTrails has it rated as moderate but the first half of the hike is up hill. My 60 year old legs were hurting but I finished and enjoyed it very much. Thanks for the great videos and information!

      Congrats on bagging this one, and yea, it's tough. Not sure why AllTrails had moderate. That first climb is a doozy. Glad the guides come in handy, thank you! 👍👍

      Ha nice! Yea, I do this one quite often and it's always fun. Unless there are 40mph winds like yesterday.... but that was an exception...

      Try this guy out - www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/crystal-cove-perimeter-loop - "red route" is the name they use in the park literature

    Love this trail. One of my favorites in OC. We usually take the other longer route that goes to the park at the peak. Question for you: do you get the county annual parking pass? Seems pricey and not worth it.

    • @Hikingguy
      @Hikingguy  4 роки тому +1

      Nice, and yea, I do the longer loop too but wanted to cover their official route (which stays in the park and doesn't go into Laguna Wilderness)... and for the OC parks pass, I get the annual pass without the beach access. It's pricey but I do a ton of hiking so it ends up paying off.

      @@Hikingguy is that the "golden poppy" pass?
