Wow! Absolutely love! I’m new to film photography and you have me more excited about starting this new journey. New film tips and shoots would be amazing!
Thank you so much! I’m glad I can help with the excitement! Film is so fun. It’s unpredictable sometimes and you have to wait for the results which to me keeps it exciting. New videos on the way!
Sick video and photo set! I'm curios how you were metering for the shot in the alley? Seems like they would be pretty contrasty from the video, but came out so clean on film. Were you exposing for the shadows? Did you rate the Gold at 100 or 200 Asa and were you using the camera's internal light meter, on Manual or Aperture priority or a handheld light meter? Lots of questions, but it will definitely help me inform some decisions if I come across a similar situation. Thanks!
Thank you! Great questions, I was using my internal light meter but exposing it for the shadows then in editing I balanced out the exposure. It was a bit over exposed but the shadows were perfect so I just took the highlights down. I also shot the Kodak gold 200 at 400 during the alley way shots! Let me know if that helps!
@@SkylerWagoner Thanks so much for the helpful info!! The only clarification I need is the reason why you rated the Gold 200 at 400. This would be underexposting it, right? Maybe I'm backwards with that :S
@@christossagiorgis909 it’s just a one stop difference! It might not really do anything when developing it but I shot it like that to over expose it a bit. I heard pushing gold makes the colors interesting but I just noticed it stayed pretty clean.
I appreciate that thank you! I just have a lav mic clipped to my shirt that is connected to a rode wireless go! I don’t mic up my subject just cause I’d have to photoshop the mic out every time. I need to figure out a way though. Would you find that more interesting if they were mic’d up?
@@SkylerWagoner I appreciate you taking the time to reply, thank you for your advice, no no it’s fine I could hear all that was said by your subject, I was trying to think of better solutions for myself really! Thanks
@@SkylerWagoner Ok, so you usually do little bit of tweaking on sum of these photos... it would be nice to see your typical editing process for the photos you get back from the lab. Is there like always a same little tweak you have to do for etc. Portra 400 lab scans?
Brooooo! Before you BLOW UP BLOW UP! Can i link up with you in October? I shoot both 120/35mm and would LOVE and NEED to assist/ shadow you for a day ! Please and Thank YOU, Alissa
@@SkylerWagoner OK BET! Also what lab do you use to develop your film? And when you get it developed do you specify anything particular or just drop it off and them develop? My film has been coming out weird
"this door is kind of interesting" is SUCH a photographer thing to say
Right 😂😂 but it works! Gotta trust the vision haha
