Nice project my man. I’m on my journey to Ironman too. Hope to get there in 5-7 years. Maybe soon, we never know. Gonna follow your journey my brother. Congrats
You are the second super small new UA-camr Triathlete I am following (really random). Crazy how much production quality already is "required"/present nowadays for such small channels. Keep it up! With your timeline, you will get a great time, though I suspect you will not be able to wait that long once you are really in it.
Losing 9lb is a cracking start and as you say that weight loss will slow down. Doing lots of ZONE 2 aerobic work, and using something like My Fitness Pal to set a calorie target and macro split to track your diet will aid fat loss. Doing lots of Zone 2 will also build your endurance levels …so you’re definitely on the right track there. When I first started training on an indoor bike, the longer I cycled, the more niggles I picked up in my knees and hips because my indoor bike set up wasn’t quite right. It might be worth having a professional bike fit - just to make sure you’re not putting undue pressure on your joints. Good luck on training for this week.
Thanks for the advice! When we got our peloton I got properly fitted by the people from the company that fitted it so I think it is set up pretty much perfect. Will monitor and see if I start getting any issue!
Love the videos so far! I’m training for a marathon, currently getting my aerobic base mileage up. I also want to lose weight before I begin marathon prep. This series definitely motivates me to keep going, thanks for continuing to show us your journey! I will definitely keep watching this series.
Thanks for the support! Wish you all the best with your marathon journey, I’m sure you’ll smash it. Any advice or tips you come across for running please let me know 😀
I'm cheering for you and will be following! I'm also in a position where I'm overweight and would like to start doing triathlon training with the goal of an Ironman. But I definitely don't think I have the courage to document on UA-cam. But I'm inspired, and I'll be watching your journey.
Its a tough position to be in as the goal is so far in the future, but with consistency and will power it is possible! All the best with your journey, you'll smash it!
Watched your first video and was super happy to see a really good goal time frame! It’s really hard to think long term and your patience is really impressive. Keep it up man!
Video 2! Let's get it. Next tip for me, weight loss is majority diet (at least in my case) you can't do it by exercise alone, think about calories and the type of macros you eat, you don't need to get a plan/ app, just be mindful of what you are putting into your body and when. Consistency is king, enjoy the journey!
Totally agree, anytime I’ve lost weight in the past it’s been through mainly diet. Will be focusing a lot on that in the first 6 months, making a good diet a habit!
Been on similar journey since 2021. With some weight fluctuation. Hope to do my first full this year. It’s been a really fun journey. Don’t be afraid to do some shorter distance races in between. Helps motivation and recognize progress. The journey is the fun. Great videos! Look forward to seeing you progress!
Hi man, I am really happy to see content like that... I am a semi-pro cyclist and I think I could suggest you a thing or two... I would not run very much on this weight because it could be harmful for your joints. I would mainly focus on cycling since is anyway the event whre you spend most time on an Triathlon. Another thing is to be very smart with your food and fuel well your training. I personally realy like to eat mainly on the training, not before. Lastly keep in mind recovery is key! Btw sorry if my english sucks xd
Good advice, thank you. I will take it onboard! Just now I am only running once a week because if my weight, when the weight drops I will up it to twice.
@@FATMAN2IRONMANYT I just received my treadmill today, I was thinking like you but I want to do a race in the morning and another in the afternoon, is much easier to do it in the confort of home. Happened the same to me when I bought a indoor bike
I found swimming to be the hardest of the 3 to sort out - highly recommend you start now and get yourself a coach to start with, the technique takes a while to pick up.. or it did for me! I started with a sprint then into an olympic distance and was about 105kg =)
Plan sounds solid! Even though I am not an expert on that topic (I'm just repeating things I have read somewhere else), I think a weight loss of over 0.7 kg per week is quite unsustainable. Try to eventually end up with a stable 0.5 kg per week. Anything over that and you might end up putting your metabolism in a position, over a longer period of time, where it desperately tries to cut ANYTHING it can, including your recovering muscles and your newly found endurance, in order to survive. Also, why not plan for some short but fun triathlons later this year? Like some sprint or shorter distances? This way you can get used to the triathlon topic and have less nerves with every event you take part in. You can also take them as advanced "brick" training sessions. That's at least the plan I will try to follow this year!
Hi, as you asked for hints I would mention 3 1) schedule rest/recovery weeks 2) incorporate strenght/resistance training from the beginning 3) weight loss happens in the kitchen. Make sure to get your protein and micro nutrients in All the best, you can do this 👍
I am on the lookout for a swim coach to get started on the swimming technique as many people have said this is key to start early. Thanks. Yes I use strava for tracking all my runs and cycles!
Although i really agree that your main focus this first face should be weight loss, I highly encourage you to also take muscle-building into account. Firstly added muscle mass will be a great tool to help you reduce risk of injury with your cardio (especially running). As an example many people tend to get pain in their gluteus medius, their calves and tibialis anterior when they start running, and this risk of injury can easily be combatted with resistance training, which will make the muscles more durable and so forth. Furthermore added muscle mass will greatly help you lose weight and keep it off, as your overall metabolism increases greatly as the body spends a lot of energy simply carrying more muscle. Lastly you will often see a decrease in muscle mass of overweight people losing fat due to an underconsumption of calories (obviously a good thing in this case) and sometimes undercomsumption of protein. Maintaining your muscle mass (or just making sure to at least lose as little as possible) is therefore really important as to keep yourself injury free and overall make your experience a lot easier with regards to losing weight and especially keeping it off. I suggest around 2 whole-body sessions each week or even only starting with one per week. Good luck on your journey!
This channel will blow up. I know it
What comes first, an Ironman or the channel blow up?
@FATMAN2IRONMANYT the blow up
Great stuff. Looking forward to hearing your progress each week
lets go bro! supporting this journey all the way from Chile
Thanks, appreciate the support! Was in Chile last year and loved it, never know my Ironman may end up being down there!

A treadmill will help you a lot, it makes sure you have no requirements of weather to train the running, which is the hard part of the triathlon.
I do have access to a gym with treadmills for when the weather is not good enough to run outside!
@@FATMAN2IRONMANYT I just received my treadmill today, I was thinking like you but I want to do a race in the morning and another in the afternoon, is much easier to do it in the confort of home. Happened the same to me when I bought a indoor bike

Hi,

1) schedule rest/recovery weeks
2) incorporate strenght/resistance training from the beginning
3) weight loss happens in the kitchen. Make sure to get your protein and micro nutrients in
All the best, you can do this 👍
Thanks for the hints. I am 100% going to start adding 1 or 2 strength workouts into my weekly plan starting this week! Appreciate the support!
Do you have a strava? Tip: start with swimming techniques, that is the most difficult
