At my school, they had a girl come up that was an actual spelling bee champ. She got everything right so in the end they gave her a fake word, refused to give her a definition or use it in a sentence, and said she actually spelled it right so they had to give her another fake word lol.

This is such an amazing and charming production of Spelling Bee! Every performer pulled their weight in making their individual characters exactly as lovable as they can be! Your Olive was particularly adorable, the take on Panche was unique and fun, Chip was everything he needed to be, Leaf was, as some people have already said, incredibly cute, Logainne, at least in my unprofessional opinion, was perfect, Marcy was everything Marcy should be, Rona was the perfect ratio of mature and excited, and William was overwhelmingly funny. A really great show all around!
This is by far the best production of Spelling Bee aside from the OBC I have seen. Especially you Temma, your interpretation of Olive was amazing. Props to all of you, what wonderful cast, what wonderful singers and actors you are.
God i never realized how sad this play was, Literally every kid has a horible family life. Leaf- Parents neglected him and thought he was stupid Marcy- Parents forced her to be the best Olive- GOD NEGLECT CAN YOU BELIEVE THE I LOVE YOU SONG LOgaine- Parents forced her to be the best. CHIP AND BARFEE are just for funny lol
Chip does has the chillest parents, but I think they do put a little bit of pressure on him, obviously not like Marcy. So he's the only one with parents that actually care about him but not to the extent to be over protective like Logaine. And Barfee has a step mother that he hates because she makes fun of him and misses his actual mom.
Can someone please tell how there Marcy is so incredible! She keeps in character like the whole time. In Magic foot, in pandemonium, and every time Leaf or William speaks. She did amazing in her song as well. I love the take she did in her character. 10/10
Only production of Spelling Bee Ive seen (after watching countless productions on youtube and being in the show myself) that could make the middle-schoolers be actual middle-schoolers! I think most people forget that they aren't just spelling lines and singing fun songs. Your cast really put the focus on character development that this show needs (cause thats where the real plot is). Its a difficult show when you really go into the logistics of it and you guys got it perfectly!!
Barfee in the entire bit starting at 1:07:00 had me LITERALLY DYING for 2 minutes straight 😂😂😂😭😭 what an incredible actor lol. Honestly, your entire cast is FULL of great actors who all did a great job with their characters!! Congrats on an outstanding production!
Hi I'm back because I can't stop rewatching this 😂 I've tried to watch other Spelling Bee productions but I can't get all the way through them. This one has just spoiled me. You're all such natural actors, the delivery of every line feels so reactive and genuine, each character's interpretation is unique and memorable yet true-to-form, the overall cast dynamic is A+++, and your added bits/changed comedic dialogue is bloody BRILLIANT! I'm seriously floored haha (in case you couldn't tell). Temma I loved how you played Olive as being excitable and giggly at heart, yet your body language clearly showed her shyness and anxiety. Very layered and authentic portrayal and I love her!!! I'm obsessed with British Panch (Charlie's comedic timing is F-L-A-W-L-E-S-S, like, LITERALLY so good). Barfee was my fav character in this. He did a great job at being unbelievably hilarious BUT ALSO genuinely lovable, unlike a lot of Barfees who just play up the arrogance or 'gross kid' stereotype (I also lowkey want to see Ari as Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors). Connor's Leaf is the best I've seen out of numerous UA-cam AND real-life productions, like he was so precious fdjkajj. Arthur could actually hit those really difficult tenor notes in Chip's Lament like DAMN BOY YES. DONALD RIDDLE IS SUCH AN AMAZING SINGER AAHH and I love that he made Mitch kind of a softie when he hugs the kids. Logainne was so cute and energetic and her SPEECH ABOUT THE VOTING AGE!!! I was like 😲😲!!!! this girl is amazing omg, Logainne goals. I think that's all of my most pressing thoughts at the moment. Sorry for bombarding you with such a long and ramble-y comment about a show that happened 2 years ago lol. But I think that's a testament to the talent you all have to be able to create such a magical performance! Thank you for sharing!
I’m watching this to get to know this production as my school is putting this on and I’m just going to say your interpretations of the characters are just wonderful and amazing. Leaf is such an amazing version of himself and he’s got to be the best Leaf I’ve seen. Olive is just precious and Barfee is hilarious. Schwartzy is the perfect amount of chaotic and I love her. I love everyone in this production.
@Serein Serene i think it's william finn's fault (the writer), He writes it "Ya gavaru shetz yatzukim". Honestly the hebrew bit is also a bit off, and i know william finn knows a bit of hebrew, but he doesn't really care for accuracy. In Falsettos, Jason's drasha in his bar mitzva sounds like hebrew for a foreigner, but is literal jibbrish. He likes to do that.

Okay I love every single thing about this version and could go on and on about different things I noticed and enjoyed. But, one of my favourite things I've noticed is how after every musical number Mitch is in, he acts so confused on how he got in that position and tries to play it off like nothing happened. I just found that really funny and thought I would share it haha.
Just wanted to add my input and reinstate what everyone else is saying - this is my favourite rendition of Spelling Bee ever. Rona manages to be funny and yet serious in such a good way. Chip's rendition of My Unfortunate Erection is WONDERFUL and I love the character choices he makes. I love Logainne's hair (perfect for the character) and her general demeanour is wonderful - the passive moments where she isn't the focus really make her shine. Leaf, of course, is wonderful - his energy is immaculate (!!) and the choice for how to perform the "trance" is one of my favourites. Barfee plays the awkwardness JUST RIGHT to the point where it's funny as ANYTHING yet still quite endearing - and, most importantly of all, not annoying. I see a lot of Barfees who just get on my nerves!! Marcy impresses me massively with her ability to keep a straight face (and still do the choreography so well) alongside her wonderful singing voice. This is my favourite Olive I've ever seen. The general way you hold yourself onstage is perfect for Olive, and the scene where Rona is teaching Olive good posture for the Bee is played so so well! Mitch's singing voice and mannerisms towards the kids are perfect - Mitch can be a difficult role to play well and he manages it. The work in "Prayer of the Comfort Counselor" is GREAT. But for me, my favourite character here HAS to be Panch - just, like, wow. This is the guy that made me want to play Panch so badly. The improv and script work flow so seamlessly and the take on Panch in general is incredible. "They won't let me be Principal" is genuinely possibly my favourite line in this show purely because of this Panch. (Of course I also have to commend Ted)
As someone who loves this musical and has spent years looking up different productions of it, this is hands down one of my favorites. I love how each of these actors made the characters theirs, and the singing all around is phenomenal. Also this Leaf must be protected at all costs
3:52 when Leaf yelled “HOLY COW” Rona was extremely startled and was like “OHMIGOSH child you nearly gave me a heart attack! I’m so done with this bee already!”
hands down the best bee I've seen. My school is doing this for its musical and so I've been watching a lot. This was the first one I watched and none have compared so I went and watched it again and it's still the best. William is absolutely amazing, and all the characters have such good character development. I will definitely use this as a reference for my character.

I enjoyed this show when I saw it on Broadway - then did the music for a local high school. This production was top-notch. This cast was wonderful in their characterizations and also their high level of musical performance. Congrats to all of you involved in this production. Thanks for posting.
My high school is doing this this year and I’m so happy I found this version! I wanted to prepare and honestly seeing it in action rather than just listening to the soundtrack has made me incredibly excited!

At my school, they had a girl come up that was an actual spelling bee champ. She got everything right so in the end they gave her a fake word, refused to give her a definition or use it in a sentence, and said she actually spelled it right so they had to give her another fake word lol.

1:08:08 I love watching the rest of the cast try their damndest not to laugh. This is the longest I’ve seen the slow motion part go on for. I would have definitely lost it 🤣
THIS WHOLE CAST IS SOOOO GOOOOOODD
THE CHIP IS LITERALLY BRETTMAN ROCK!!!
i just played leaf & this perfomance means everything to me!!!! i watched it before i auditioned and while i was rehearsing & dude it fucking slaps
I laugh so hard when Panch was about to say fucking but then said only barely any of it to damn. Him just mouthing it made me laugh
The amount of times I have cried over this performance is... unhealthy to say the least.
convinced leaf and ted know each other. if not they’re just THAT adorable. their chemistry🤞🤞🤞
Coneybear is my favourite oh my gosh
Leaf is so pure 🥺🤧😂❤️😭💕
Indeed, he is.
