I walked outside yesterday and saw my wife destroying an anthill with a shovel. And when I mean destroying, I mean she was just going to fucking town on those poor ants. At one point she was saying some shit under her breath about six legs being 4 too many, It was crazy.
I love the officer carbine and i'm glad to see a big name like Hornet bringing more light to the gun, maybe CryTek will hear our prayers for more weapon skins for this lovely yet niche gun.
That's what I hate so much about this game I love... The inconsistency. You can't rely on anything. You never know if something is a bug or intended. You can't rely on the weapons, or hitmarkers, or the movement, sometimes not even the sound. The menu is buggy since the beginning, not getting any better. Old bugs appear again every update. Makes me wonder what chaotic codebase they have... Hunt showdown is the idea of a game, a dream we all have, but never reach.
@@Apsandman Based on the description of the HV ammo type, more recoil would make sense. What doesn't make sense is what your weapon's response is when firing regular compact ammo. The animation suggests that the firer doesn't attempt to get the weapon back on target. Just stays the weapon it the position of the recoil. It's stupid. Perhaps an intentional bug to make it less viable as Nagant Officer Carbine used to be called "The head-clicker". Now its just a faster firing, less-controllable Winny unless ya pay up for the HV ammo.
I'm pretty sure it doesn't have less recoil, its just that the recoils aren't RNG with HV unlike the regular recoil, making it more easier to control. It's either an oversight or purposful design decision so players can decide whether they take a gun with less recoil but with random recoil knock-back, or pay extra to get a gun with higher recoil that's controllable with a skill.
Yeah I thought HV made the recoil worse and Hornet had just learned how to control it and benefit from the bullet speed, but nope it just fixes the gun.
The carbine has been my most used weapon since I started playing around 2.5 years ago, and it's crazy what it can do if you learn to compensate for the recoil.
I stopped using this weapon (and scope variant) because I felt like I was too inconsistent with it. Now I know that it may be because of ammo type. Sometimes I used it with special ammo, sometimes with regular. From now on I will try only special ammo and see if it works for me.
@@Shenzi504 its a bit dumb tho because the HV ammo increased recoil is supposed to be a balancing mechanic for HV, instead in this scenario it fixes the RNG recoil of the base ammo
I’ve never tried high velocity on the officer carbine but i fell in love with it when doing poison ammo challenges this last event, when shots are landing it can wipe squads insanely fast inside the same compound. Even if headshots aren’t landing i love the poison taking them out of the fight.
The Carbine is a slept on gun for a couple of reasons, the reload and the ammo type. On paper youre getting a long barreled officer which means less sway and better recoil but at the same time its its what $150 for a compact ammo gun? Most people who are "competitive" within Hunt would scoff at the idea of using anything other than a Winfield for compact and it kind of makes sense to a degree. The Winfield swift as an example I think is a round $140 and has the ability to reload half of its ammo in not even 4 seconds which is 8 rounds, pretty spicy, even then a normal Winfield still loads faster on a round by round basis compared to the Officer. Where the Officer shines however is in its semi auto nature, or double action whichever you prefer. Not having to rechamber a round after every shot manually makes the officer a much more accurate and faster firing weapon than any compact ammo gun in the game aside from the Bornheim but even then that thing is way more money and lacks the effective range of the officer. The officer is a spammy and easy to control gun out to great distances and paired with high velocity ammo it can be an exceptionally deadly threat in the bayou.
Hornet I got a Throwing axe kill to clutch a 1v3 from 20m away at west part of Healing, it was amazing, I attribute it to you for what your videos have taught me ^^ Keep up with the great gameplays c:
I'm going to have to try this. I play on console and the carbine used to be my favorite rifle play until they nerfed it with that horrible recoil. I'm going to see if the high velocity does the same for console and negates the recoil
@@DJ5780 sorry for the late response. Yes, it is worth it. It's still not my go-to, but it's very fun to play with high velocity and way easier to control the recoil
OOOOOMMMMMGGGG did I not know this. I loved this gun anyway for the fun use with poison and good head clicker potential for first shots when you space it out.
Carbine is what got me to 6* and keeps me there, oddly enough though I prefer the recoil w/ normal bullets as opposed to velocity, maybe I'm just so use to normal that velocity feels off but either way the Carbine is great.
WHile soloing a team of 3 with the winnie swift and high velocity is fun I do wonder if it should be a thing, that was before the headshot range buff as well.
Officer carbine is just a forgotten grandpa of M1 carbine: a little dinky gun shooting pistol ammo which is better than a pistol by virtue of having a real stock. (Also it probably didn't existed irl. Never heard about nagant revolver in carbine configuration.)
Thanks for the commentary at the start. It was very insightful. Could you just make the volume of it a bit louder? I had to crank my volume up to hear speaking but then the gameplay clips played and they were loud af
I think the regular Nagant revolver would be nice with the high vol ammo. Extra 21 shots and giving the enemy a fair chance. Officer would be cheesing the poor sods
Oh my god, you cut away the engineer music right when you started the battle gameplay. Would have been epic to hear the climax of the song as you shot some cowboys!
Holy shit! Ive always loved playing the officer carbine even though its arguably shit, I never knew high velocity improved the recoil though. I never really ran it with special ammo because you run out so fast. This changes everything for me. One of my favorite fun loadouts now becomes fun AND viable.
The deadeye version of this gun has been my first love in hunt. I even bought a dlc only for a skin (when do we get more carabine skins crytek ? 😠) I heard it went from god tier to trash tier to okay tier to now god tier again, and tbh i'm glad. Carbine + silent nagant give the best ammo + Silent, but you got that single action revolver, i found more success on the silent nagant due to its higher ammo.

Definitely one of the strongest guns in Hunt that doesn't need any Traits (perks) for it to be amazingly effective. The Steady Aim Trait will help some with aiming at a longer distance. Definitely one of the best weapons to use with freshly recruited Free Hunters.

That tomahawk kill at the end was nasty!
The HV ammo causing little recoil vs regular ammo is clearly a bug. It occurred when they added the HV ammo and it still hasn’t been fixed
