Yep, me too. I hate 50s necks, personally. I saw a Classic come up once which was gold with p90s and a 60s neck - I should have scooped that up because they’re so damn rare!!
@@BaronsDuju i have one on ebony.. its super nice but mine needed set up.. i hate super low action.. but personally i really love the classic with slim taper neck and no weight relief.. hand wired boards with orange cap..
I have 3 Gibsons and they all are p90 loaded. My favorite tone and a tool that can great blues/rock classic tones with. One is a Goldtop from 2011 with the 50s neck. Has factory coil tap on both pickups as well. Nearly the same model here and my fave out of all 9 guitars I have.
I've got this exact model in goldtop and love it. Mine is 8.2 lbs. Very light for a Gibson LP, but my older back appreciates the weight relief. Especially compared to my 9.8 lb Gibson LP Classic.
I’m a tele player but when I had a p90 gold top I was really satisfied with the whole thing the playability ,tone was outstanding ,great guitar 👍🏻👍🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️good video 😎🖖🏻✌🏻
I’ve always wanted one of these - but to be honest, when I picked one up at GC I felt it was wayyyy to heavy. And frets were really rough. Sub par QC. I did buy a standard Junior with tobacco burst and it plays like a dream. Killer single P90 tone. Willing to give these gold tops another chance but totally recommend finding one and feeling it in your hands first.
@@Vidarbootslol says a Gibson fanboy. They are great guitars, but if you’re denying their QC issues then you have you’re head in the clouds. I like Gibson, mainly own Fenders, and will be the first to say Fender has also had QC issues.
@@VidarbootsI'm just about to buy one of these but I will be thourougly checking it out beforehand because the last les paul traditional I had was a piece of shit which should never have left the factory, the string alignment was way out on account of the bridge being mounted off centre,I've seen chinese knock offs with better build quality.I'm a Fender guy and am only considering Gibson again as I hear they have vastly improved because their qc was shit a few years ago.
@grahampye9353 If you are a fender guy, I honestly wouldn't even waste your time. Fender has a longer scale length, sounds like bs, but it honestly makes the notes have a kind of "pop/snappy note attack." The Gibsons have a shorter scale length. So more than likely, your hand is gonna feel "cramped" or like you're tripping over your fingers. The Gibson because of the shorter scale length is gonna have a "looser more midrange" sound to it. If you want something more "aggressive" or "rock-n-roll" I'd suggest getting a tele with humbuckers....actual humbuckers not those wide-range piles of dog schidt they put in the thin line teles.
I finish checked my new P90 gold top, as can be seen in my two most recent (Hunger Strike cover and a Neil Young/Pearl Jam cover) if anyone is curious what it looks like. I couldn't be happier. My Standard 60s Iced Tea is for keeping nice but with play wear; my Standard 50s p90 goldtop is my beater. I want it to take all the abuse so the burst stays nicer instead.

I just traded my R6 Gold Top, for a Custom Shop 58 re issue double cut Junior. I had a lot of sleepless nights, before I pulled the trigger on this. And now, I'm not so sure. The Junior is due to arrive tomorrow, so we shall see then.
What do you mean when you say 50s profile neck? The 50s had a couple of different neck sizes. The 57 & 58 was thicker than a 59. Is this P90 guitar like a 58 or a 59?
