    I love how the Atari Pokey Bass switches up its PWM over the octaves so that the lower notes have more overtones and the higher notes are just straight up squares.
    That makes it for me the clear winner, no other basses in this demo alternate their waveform for the sake of preserving overtone-richness.

    I have always loved the C64 envelope filter bass, so I have to go with that as number 1. The Sonic-style bass and Sunsoft bass are really good too!

      @@noahsabadish3812 The 6581 filter square bass. The 6581 was the first generation of the SID chip, the sound chip for the Commodore 64. It was followed in later versions by the 8580.

    6581 filter square bass is superb! Namco WSG is great too. I love how grungy the Famicon's Sunsoft bass is. Atari TA is cool too.

    I like the basement Sega Genesis because it reminds me of the base patch you would find in the DX7 that was used Kenny loggins song

    Yeah I still think the Genesis Bass is my favorite, even though Sunsoft and C64 are also very close to my heart hahah
    Overall they are all great bass sounds that can be used very differently and sound great when used properly! ^^

    Definitely the YM2612 and 6581
    The Namco bass also has an interesting bit to it that I think could have a lot of range. I just prefer YM2612 and 6581 because they stand well on their own

    Having grown up with the 6581 Filter Square Bass from the C64, my initial reaction was that one. But then I heard the Namco WSG Bass. Floored the competition. That's my absolute favorite from this lineup.

    1. SUNSOFT - it's beautiful. only problem is that the bits were reversed so noise :(
    2. Atari 2600 - Idk why but I imagine this in some kind of horror game or something. I like it
    3. C64 Square - It sounds nice but it also sounds messy.
    4. Sonic 1/2 - I've heard it so many times in Genesis soundfont remixes. It's bland to me. However, when it works, it works.
    5. Atari 8-Bit Computer - Basically a worse 2600 Bass.
    6. Namco WSG - Not really my taste.

    Sega is my #1, but prolly because of nostalgia. I was a Genesis kid growing up. After that, Atari TIA & Namco sound amazing

    I've only really stumbled into your stuff man, I saw part 1 the other day, but thank you for showing off incredible skill here. I have always loved the Genesis bass twang. Probably old love for Sonic. The Atari Pokey Bass is also nice, I love the charm it just feels like nostalgia to me.

    Wavetable chips have a lot of potential. I love their use in other chips like HuC6280, N163 and FDS.

    I love square waves. I'm not normally a fan of the SID chip but I LOVE this "filter square" here. Could you give details about how this particular sound was formed? Is this something heard a lot in SID music or it is unusual?

    As I said in part 1: YM2612 Sega Genesis... Because C R I S P Y C R U N C H Y B A S S.
    Still, I actually do like the Famicom/NES Sunsoft Bass. My second favorite is the Namco WSG Bass but I think the most unique sounding one though, is the 6581 Filter Square Bass.

      It is a noise channel (short waveform) that can be used in any 8 bit system.

    The Namco Bass is actually just a sampled FM Bass Waveform that had been bit-crushed to death. Still sounds good. Specifically, it looks a lot like a Bass sound from an OPL Soundchip.

    6581 of course! its my favourite sound chip and im so hyped for the new ASIC reimplementation of it that the Avalon Semiconductors AS6581x8 will bring us. 8 custom silicone SIDs in a single package!
