Cocoa Fudge Frosting - Fast, Easy, Fool Proof!

Every baker must have this recipe in his / her repertoire! Try this if you love cocoa. Know this for times you are out of chocolate - this frosting can be a life-saver ! Use it on your cake or drizzle over ice cream.

Ingredients
Unsalted butter, soft - 70 grams
Caster sugar - 150 grams / 3/4 cup
Unsweetened cocoa powder - 53 grams
(Hersheys, Cadbury's and the kind)
Salt - tiny pinch
Cream - 3/4 cup / 180 ml ( I use Amul, 25%, please read note)
(you can also use heavy cream if you can find it)
Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon.
Instant coffee - 1 teaspoon (optional, but good)

Im glad i found this. The first time my frosting turned out so well..
This was the most amazing fudge frosting I have ever tried! It is now my go to for ganache/fudge icing! It is so silky and literally melts in your mouth! I made a fudgy chocolate cake and used this as filling and topping, it was the prefect amount for an 8 inch sandwich cake with none left. I actually preferred the cake with this frosting on it in the fridge as it turned thicker and more fudge icing like! I prefer this to the melting dark chocolate versions that my children find too bitter.

I've been baking cakes for about 9 years now, and I've always been searching for that perfect frosting. I can't believe I've found it. Where were you all this time?!! :) This is the perfect frosting if you like a strong chocolate flavour, its perfect piping consistency if you refrigerate it, and is so so delicious. Is this stable for hot weather? Or in case the cake needs to be transported without airconditioning? Philippines can get hot at room temp

i dint pipe it. i had just spread it on top of the cake .but i feel if u refrigerate it and then pipe it it will keep its shape.

Hi Geeta, I have piped it immediately after taking it out from the fridge and served right away. So not sure how long it will stay firm at room temperature. The frosting can be kept in the fridge, but not all cakes taste good when refrigerated. So you need to bake a suitable cake. Otherwise guess the frosting will stay good for a couple of hours outside the fridge.

hi, love how easy the recipe is but got one question, how can I make this pipeable? can it hold it's shape even on room temp?
It will old its shape if it is kept in the fridge for a few hours. May not hold for long at room temperature in this heat. Pipe just before serving if possible

You wont need a mixer to make the frosting Thalia. You can make the frosting and chill it so it firms up. Then you can pipe and store the cake in the fridge as the piping may not hold up very well outside the fridge
