Loving the insight from these vids. Really appreciate the opponent deck info where you highlight notable cards such as Giovanni, as it’s vital for determining potion break points
Just pulled my second starmie today, definitely trying this out. I’ve tried blastoise with tentacruel and it felt pretty good. Glad you are putting out more tournament play, easily my favorite of your content. Not sure what it is about pincurchin that makes most content creators mispronounce it. Pin cur chin. Like pin cushion and sea urchin combined.
Thanks for giving me a list to copy. I’ve been messaging with stoise for a while now and haven’t been too pleased with my brews. This list looks good though, seeing as starmie and cuno can just win games alone.
It's a combination of Pikachu, water types not having a wall vs common electrics(fire types have Moltres to wall vs common waters and Electric types have a Zapdos vs common fightings.. not that grounds are OP) and misty being potentially a shit card that kneecaps every water type ever. (Just look at Ninetails able to take down almost every stage 2 water type especially with Blaine support.)
I'd really love to see the Pikachu EX players hand in that first game. I'm not sure how they could both not have the Gio and no basics. They may have missed that Sabrina was leathal I suppose and held the basics for some reason?
13:00 was dead in board anyway. They retreat back to Mewtwo EX, psydrive, and with 70 health unless you top deck a misty which rolls a coin, you cannot kill that ex.
I don’t know if this is basic knowledge by now but you can tell what energy your opponent is starting with at the top left when placing your at the start of the game
I feel like the main reason Blastoise is competitive now is because all the Pokémon influencers influence the playerbase into choosing which deck is meta and makes the majority play that base which last week you all hyped up Charizard and Arcanine and fire decks, ofc the next week you'll hype up water to beat the old "meta" and then you've already started the next meta which is the stronger opponent to which the majority plays atm hence a huge mind game XD It's like you've hyped Mewtwo for a while, then some darkness deck and then some fighting decks and then som grass decks and then fire decks and then water decks, you're basically just shuffling peoples brains around in a psychological mind game. It's been fun to watch these last two months how you all have the same hype for the same decks every other week just doing the preset rotation. I guess we'll see lightning being the next meta in a week or two and then we go back to Golem/Machamp/Marowak decks. and the circle contiues. This game needs in fact a very much needed stronger focus on PvE and Leagues and Gym battles.
This is non-sense not remotely backed up by data. Mewtwo and Pikachu have had 30~% play rates this last week in tournaments still. Charizard is more popular, but still sub 20% in most events and overall for the week. Stop with the conspiracy theories.
Or maybe there were just developments in the meta over time and since the card pool is so limited and the data is so readily available, content creators are all exploring the same new, successful ways to combat the day 1 decks. Don't forget that the day 1 clearly powerful decks are still clearly powerful and that the Arcanine Charizard deck was wholly transformative in making that archetype more competitive against Pikachu as well as being more consistently powerful than the day 1 Charizard lists.
Small error at the beginning, Blastoise EX is from Pikachu pack, not the mewtwo pack
Don’t care. Ratio

I really appreciate getting to see some Best-of-Three matches. Great video. I would love to see more tournament okay in the future.
I was playing and tweaking my Blastoise deck this morning, so this came at a good time! Love the commentary.

Really enjoy watching the tourney play. Great stuff as always!
This bo3 format is great to watch. Can't get enough of these Jeff!
love this. definitely would like to see more of this format.
Hi from France. Awesome content as ever Jeff
Best Starter Representation 💙
Love this format of talking through tournament play
Love to see this Blastoise gameplay. I don't have Articuno so I have been trying Ex Lapras or Baby Lapras as replacements and it felt solid.

Love this format
I love this deck. I wonder if it's Pikachu specifically that keeps it from going over the top.

Gotta love these off meta deck list this the essence of the game, theory crafting lets say

what matchup did you lose to in the tournament?
How did you do overall in this tournament?
4-2 drop
@ thank you for the response!
first? lol cool deck but I prefer regular starmie or seeking to better help going first.
Gotta believe in misty or nothing
Ive tried Starmie ex, Lapras ex, Lapras, Kangaskhan, Articuno.... my favourite formula is plain 2xFrosmoth... the one I started with.
I saw a youtube video called "WIGGLYTUFF IS FINALLY META" and all I could think was "I wonder how many tails flips it took to make Wigglytuff 'meta'?"
That's amusing because based on tournament stats over the weekend Wiggly didn't really meaningfully change in play rate.
0:14 blastoise is in pikachu packs articuno is in mewtwo
Edit: just packed a spare full art blastoise for trade 😂
3 most powerfull things in pokemon pocket:
1. The power of your credit card
2. The power of coinflips
3. The power of mathematics.
In that order.
"What you liked and smash that button aswell"

Mewtwo was hyped since the beginning and still most people didn't play Darkness
bro has no idea how card games work
