Fretboard Confidential's Six Part Series on Learning to Play the Changes on the Blues: Step One The Swing Scale.
Killer lesson, tons of great ideas simplifying and explaining Jump Blues & Swing style lines & licks, over 12 bar changes. Thank you.
Great guitar teacher, very insightful and musically educated who knows how to simplify concepts and make things a lot easier to understand.
Thanks for the kind words, Joe. Glad you're enjoying the lessons!
So much to gain from this lesson! That little shift at 9:45 from the Bb9 up to Bb6 and back, is so damn cool!
Absolutely love this style of music. Great simple explanation. I don't understand the major / minor third, I wish I did. Thank you David! Great lesson!!!
Thanks for this insightful lesson: finally kind of understood what people mean when you hear them say that 'they're playing the changes' or 'it's all about the major thirds'.
Great lesson, David! A whole new thing I never knew about.
Great lesson!!! I love your no nonsense approach and how you explain things at a level one should be at to get the full potential of the lesson. I've been playing for many years but I committed to learning music theory (as it applies to guitar) in just the past year or so. I've sampled so, so many guitar channels in that time. I subscribed to this one after just a few minutes of this lesson. I can tell that your lessons are going to help me advance again.
Very enjoyable and educational , all the explanations are on point and understandable! Also a real cool cat
What a great lesson!
Thanks David, really appreciate your good work!
Great teaching!! Pace, clarity, context... You got it all going on! Thanks!
Thanks for watching - I'm glad you enjoyed the lesson!
You hooked me at 10:57
Playing right through the change as opposed to over the change in that semi jazzy/blues feel.
Creating longer lines through the changes in this type of voicing,, without having to take on a full jazz course.
Great Great Lesson!
& Not too many on YT for the non theory players (such as myself).
You really nailed this one in my opinion.
David great presentation, enlightening! Another step forward for me . The journey continues. Thanks for helping me along . Gracious!
Love this lesson. So well presented. Such a sense of effortless cool. Thank you.

Great lesson! Is the backing track you used available? Also, what are the chord changes? Thank you!
Great lesson, thank you. Could you turn the vocal mic up a bit?
Dig it!
Glad to have been dug!
Where does one get that background soundtrack for practicing?
What is the flat 5 for in this scale? I have tried using it and I just can't seem to fit it in anything that sounds good. Can anyone help me out with this?
Have you published tab/charts for these lessons?
👉🎸🎼👍👍👍✌
What chord progression are you playing.
Is there tab available for the swing scale ?
Is there a name for this scale?
lol, I'm eating this up and then at 11.30, wtf?
