The trailer and pallet jack were definitely worth the rental fee. I was worried that I would have to slam on the brakes for some reason and the mill would fall over. Thanks for watching!
Really? I thought the series 1 had the smaller table and column. This one has the larger table and column like the series 2, but has the 2J head, thus making it a series 2 special. It even has “Series II Special” on the side of it. I’m confused. Thanks for watching.
@@southerningenuity4458 Hi, the Series 1 had a 42 or 48 x9 inch table available, The real Series 2 machine table size was 58 x 11 inch and also had a 4 hp head. Either way it looks like you got a good machine.
Glad you got it moved safely! Good job. I have a Series II special in my garage. The rigger I bought the machine from moved it for me. For those that don't understand the Series II Special, It is a large machine with a 11x58 table and a 2j 2hp head. The standard Series II has a 4 hp head built just for it. They are heavy and large. It isn't your standard Bridgeport mill. Each of the Series II's were hand made by the best craftsman at Bridgeport. Not assembly line.
Great Video! I have a Lagun Milling machine about the same size and it comes in at 2800 lbs. Still no matter how much they might weigh, proper planning is key.
Big old heavy machinery sells at bargain prices in England. Folks are put off by the fear of the unknown in moving it, and they rather buy chinesium. Your vid is great for dispelling that fear.
After replying to a few comments regarding the weight of the machine, my curiosity got the better of me. I purchased an owner's manual for the machine (needed one anyway) and at the bottom of page 2-1, where it talks about lifting the machine, it says "Installed Gross Weight of Machine 4700 Lbs."
I own a Bridgeport mill like that it Wright is 2100 lb and ran on 440 bolt who told u the Wright a 600 bolts I have a 2hp motor on it and run it on 240volt with a faze conversion on it
The series 1 machines weigh approximately 2000lbs. The series 2 machines are considerably heavier. I looked at many different sites online (auctions, forums, etc.) to try to get an idea of how much they weighed before trying to move it. I saw weights listed from 4000lbs to 5500lbs, but most said about 4700lbs. Thanks for watching!
@@2deetwo Thanks Uncle Dee. I knew with it being the Series 2 "Special" that it was a mix of the Series 1 and 2. After getting it moved I felt like it probably didn't weigh the full 4700 pounds, but still couldn't find any consistent documentation on the weight, so I went with the number that came up the most. Thanks for the info, and thanks for watching!
A well planned and executed move. Congrats to you clever Southern boys! I have a Bridgeport clone which is smaller and a CNC which is much larger, they weigh 2000 and 4000 lbs. But hey maybe those good old US made castings are heavier! No the chips can fly for you!
Those trailers are amazing to use. When I moved my mill I flipped the head upside down to get the CG lower

I was involved in building both the Series 1 and Series 2 Bridgeport mill and what is in this video is a Series 1 with a 2J milling head.

You can rotate the head down to lower the cg as well, all the way upside down and it a block of wood between the table and the motor case
Thanks, I'll have to remember that if I ever need to move it again. Thanks for watching!
Fantastic! A hydraulic trailer is definitely the way to go.
It really made a huge difference. Thanks for watching!

Very cool! Thanks for watching!
This is crazy, I purchased a surface grinder from this shop. They had some really crazy equipment in that shop.
They sure did, I just wish I would have had more money to get some of the other equipment. Thanks for watching!
The Blanchards they had outside under the deck were crazy.
YES! Make sure it's perfectly parallel with the wall just in case mama comes to look at it! lol You never cease to impress me. Great video!
Thank you!

Thank you sir! I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to move it. According to the owner’s manual, it weighs 4700 pounds. Thanks for watching!
That was the perfect trailer for the job.
It really made it an easier job. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for watching!
BTW, almost all Series II Specials came with a NMTB30 spindle. I see R8 collets hanging on yours. Rather rare.
That's interesting. Thanks!

I'm not sure I understand, please clarify. Thanks.
👍
Thanks!
4700??? These machines weigh 1900-2000 max

@@southerningenuity4458 It has series 1 ram and head, series 2 column, table and knee so your probably looking at around 3000 to 3500lbs.

The motor does not have a low voltage option? Did you consider a RPC instead of a VFD? That could serve additional 3P for any added toys.
