    This channel is gold for someone who's been practicing Karate.

    Makes the whole thing so much more meaningful when you understand how it really works.

    Dear guyver2095,
    I'm so glad you brought this point up about "under stress" you nailed it! If the stress gets to you then you are not in "mushin" and you will be in a state of anxiety, and you will fail.
    The mind must remain calm and unaffected during the fight, then you will enter the "ZONE".

    We have similar in Uechi Ryu. This application is also similar to the Naihanchi kata.

    I'm too old for the "show", for me its all about the "oyo" that works. Thanks for your kind words.

    It is a very versatile and universal, but you should know that a very old version of shuto uke is not like this, it was used in Toamri and Shuri and it is a a hooking hands more circular. Look into Gohakukai and see how they do Shuto uke.

    Dear guyver2095,
    I fully understand what you mean. Just remember that we are teaching principles here not "solution "A" for problem "A", take what you know and apply it to fighting in a ballroom or in a phone booth. It does not matter where you are, if you know yourself and you use principles that are ingrained into you, you will fight accordingly and kick butt.

    What if your opponent doesn't leave their arm out there for you like that?

    • @Oneminutebunkai
      @Oneminutebunkai  7 років тому +3

      Hes not leaving it out there at all, look at the timing, he gets hit when he thinks he is hitting. There is no second attack option for him, this is why it works because the counter happens simultaneously. Also consider this is a "single" principle, an idea being presented, to open eyes to possibilities, these bunkai are never "set in stone". Take it a face value but this is not a forum for the 10,000 "what ifs" from every critic out there in UA-cam-land. But I will say that if he were not to leave it out there as you say, then you will adapt, overcome, and improvise like everything else in life otherwise you will get hit. Fighting is not precise, unpredictable and ugly, you will probably not walk away (if you walk away at all) from any real fight without a scratch. So all we can do is train our bodies and follow sound principles over memorizing of solutions. I do not put anything on this channel that I have not tried against someone who is really trying to get me, so I know these ideas are sound and have potential.

      Kyle Raposo I would find it difficult to immediately think of using my other arm when there are fingers gouged in my throat.

    @Oneminutebunkai Jajaja , thats true, I mean this are general guidelines no cockbook recipies, but a little more knowledge never is out of place.

    @Oneminutebunkai Yea, I know, but if you are being robbed by a burglar or some guy get in your house or you are getting assaulted in a cab, you are going to be in a dangerous situation, thats what I mean.

    The only reason Brazilian Jiu Jitsu works against "Karate users" is because all of the best karate moves are banned either directly or indirectly for cage matches.
