Wow! Talk about a harrowing ride! One wrong turn, a little too much gas, not quite enough brake, or some road hog coming the other way at the wrong place, and into the water you go! Or if not that, then an uncontrolled descent down a long steep hill. Congratulations to the drivers for being able to successfully negotiate this obstacle course. And where are the riders necessary to support a route like this? Have they all died of old age or moved away? It seemed like this bus ran empty or with only one passenger most of the way. Beautiful video, thanks for creating and posting it.
A lovely video and I really enjoyed it. Does anyone actually use the bus? All the exterior shots were of empty vehicles and no-one seemed to board until you got into the city. Must be heavily subsidised in such a sparsely populated area.
um what??? You do realize the one who shot this video wasn't the driver he just sitting in the front row seat. This is Japan we're talking about, the driver is seated on the right not on the left.
I find that busses with front axles set behind the driver generate interesting videos as the windshield seems to go off the edge of the road as sharp turns are made.

Beautiful country, and well off the beaten track! Public Service buses, are really overlooked, and however, are very common in,Switzerland and Italy, and Europe in general! In those countries, everything connects, and no hamlet,no matter how small is left out! The Japanese do a superb job,of that, and the US could learn loads from the example! Query,is that bus operated as a local-express,or a similar schedule? Thank you for that eye candy scenery! Many a time,I rode the shotgun seat,on buses, and the view was always interesting!🚌🚎🚐🚊
Wow! The last time that i travelled from the same seat possition as in this video was back in ´84 with the Greyhound bus from Townsville all the way down to Melbourne Australia. So in some way it brings back some fond memories of that time. Thank you ´railfan aunz´ for this GREAT upload!
The views of the harbor sea walls remind me of the tsunami water breaching the tops. Still pray for the Japanese for what they went through and the long road to recovery they face.
Narrow roads still able to retain and utilize, the bus driver still observes speed regulations and following traffic rules even in a far flung, rural road. This are the kind of Japanese traits what the Philippines should adapt especially on both public transport and public works.
The silent imagery is so evocative and compelling one cannot stop watching it unfold, I loved your eye for details, you tell a great story, thank you for sharing that adventure. Now a plea for help from Japanese railfans: my son teaches English in Hokkaido, specifically Mashike, the town where the 1981 movie 'Station" (駅 STATION Eki Station) was filmed- although it (the route) is now closed down, is there any video on the internet of the train route there? Perhaps even a video of the bus routes like this one? Thank you.
You can find almost anything on the Internet, if you will just exert yourself to do a little research. It only took me a few minutes to find the following: ua-cam.com/video/uSsrMu2BN1g/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/jvy54EpiOnQ/v-deo.html i don't know why the first video is twice as long as the second one.
@@obkb1 Thank you for the help, obviously your search skills exceed mine, I appreciate the links. ☺I did find this link earlier however, it was the best I could do: ua-cam.com/video/c4cpowfQDUo/v-deo.html
@@obkb1 "i don't know why the first video is twice as long as the second one." The second (shorter) one ends at Rumoi, the longer is full length from Rumoi Line archive (Fukagawa~Rumoi~Mashike) It fades to black rather quickly when the train arrives at Mashike; I wish he got off and did a bit more video around the station, but the cameraman probably didn't realize just how valuable this would be in time. Once again, thanks for the help.
53:33 Everytime I see a tunnel like this I think of the ones I´ve seen in Austria, where they have huge wind turbines hanging from the ceiling to blow the smoke out in case of a vehicle catching fire. 1:16:14 No guard rails, nothing. A swing with the steering wheel and the bus parks itself on the boats :D Germany: We have guardrails and handrails everywhere, to reduce the danger of hurting yourself. Japan: Learn driving or learn to swim. wwwwww
They're living on the section of the globe that is upside down from you or myself. Actually, they approved (thumbs up) but because they're upside down on the earth it's just how their approvals look from our perspective (thumbs down).
Amazing driving thrill with so many curves manouvering so easily. Hats off to the Driver.

Lovely video ride. Thanks for showing.
Even if only online , I enjoyed the trip . Thank you so much

Nice video.
The cityscape is interesting!☺

Great video!!👍👍🚍
How can they pay attention to the traffic signs? Such a pandemonium of poles, cables...etc. How? I would've missed a ton...
what a great journey !!

great trip, are you the only passenger on this ride??
This was a change from looking at a train cab ride.
