@n8032 and no the two guys in the 82d that i was referring to did all of their freefall jumps from civilian skydiving schools, im pretty sure like the SEALs you mentioned their professional jumps were all massed static line drops.
@Torn80cj Corliss has said before that a good base jumper can move forward 2 feet for every foot loss in altitude, no wingsuit. A good jumper with a good wingsuit can do 3 feet forward to 1 foot loss in altitude. If I recall correct.
Having control of your stability and /or slope direction in free fall makes a difference. ANYONE can fall, very few can control the body stability & direction. Lots of people can play football in their back yard, but few can go professional.
@hiyoddo Down, but the wing suits are getting better. You may have seen this video by now, but if you haven't, check out one called "Jeb Corliss-Grinding the Crack". The wing suit he has and the way he flies it is going more forward than it is going down. I'm not sure on this, but it almost looks like he can cover 500 yards foward while only losing a 100 yards in altitude. It's hard to tell, because the mountain angle might be deceiving me.
lol! The Space Needle is an elegant and iconic structure, which was built more than 40 years before the tacky Stratosphere in Vegas, so it's hardly a ripoff. I'm not even a huge fan of Seattle, I find it to be a dull city but the Space Needle is beautiful.
@n8032 its in the works, the guy that runs SFA 64 has a personal aircraft (beechcraft I believe) that he and his brother own, and i've worked out a deal to buy fuel for the bird and his nephew (a Current duty Army guy, Ranger I believe but Im not sure) is gonna run me through the necessary training, they said they'd get me to the point where I could walk onto a DZ and be able to just go and jump, which is sweet.
@Dierwolf20 SF dont have these quite yet. they are extremely difficult to stabalize with a heavy load. SF guys are carring almost 100 lbs at times plus their own body weight.secondly, to fly one of these things its recommended you have 200 skydives. special forces may get 70 jumps in their carreer if they're lucky. so with the equipment load weight getting in the way of the suit plus the pure inexpirence level SOF's have in skydiving its gonna take a long time for SF to see this in the field.
@Dierwolf2000 and with my credentials i am well aware that they carrry loads of more than 100lbs. looking back i said "almost 100lbs." when i shouldve have said at least. and if im not mistaken 82nd airborne doesnt preform many freefall jumps. from what ive seen and heard they are mostly static line jumps. i was takling about wingsuits adn freefall stablity.
@Peanutman1337 its the exact opposite nothing to do with compressed air....its very low pressure air behind them (like on top wings). When they fall at those speeds, the region of air behind them has a much lower pressure as the air tries to fill the space where their bodies once occupied. The moisture in the air cannot exist as a gas at such low pressures and condenses in to tiny water droplets.....just like a cloud when moist air rises, the pressure drops and clouds form. OR...its smoke :)
@felipescalador12 its a parachuting move that u can do by breaking one side of your hute fully hich is going to make u fall faster and spin, but when i saw it i thought the same first :P
Dude don't say shit unless u actually been here. The stratosphere is cool n all but the space needle is one of the best builds in architectural history
Although this is awesome I feel it's still quite not as exciting as some of the videos from Switzerland and Norway. Those dudes shoot proximity wing suit flights and do all kinds of insane things. This was baby stuff compared to Jokke's stuff!
@n8032 thats funny, considering i used to live right next door to the HQ of SF Association post number 64, and met quite a few SF guys with WAY more than 70 jumps in their logbooks. Shit I've met 82nd Airborne guys with more than 70 jumps. Also I've known SF guys to carry way way more than 100 pounds, especially for Desert Patrols such as you see in Iraq and Afghanistan.
*boy in space needle* mommy mommy look! i want to do that one day...*mother* ok you can do that any time you like....*little boy* OK MOMMY HERE I GO!!!!!!....
@Dierwolf20 i was a navy corpsman stationed in little creek virginia, amphibious operations. i used to train with EOD team 2 and i knew lots of great guys in seal team two. and the seals i met that had been in for 6 years only had 50 jumps or so. i dont know what branch you were affiliated with but it sounds like a different program. im not here to measure cock size. i was just stating that yet a very cool idea wingsuits only go 6 miles max and it wouldnt be worth right now for sf guys to use em
@n8032 thanks for that military service, and im sorry if i came off dickish. im used to nitwits around here spouting off on shit they know little to nothing about, obviously thats not the case with you. The Green Beret guys I knew all had a crapton of jumps but bear in mind these guys were not modern Soldiers, they'd all been retired for at least ten years. maybe just a different time period of military development i dunno.
They say you should have a minimum of 500 jumps before attempting the wingsuit. The cheapest you can get all your own skydiving equipment is about 6000$. The cheapest possible parachute is around $2000. But don't skimp. Wingsuit, add on at least $2000
@Dierwolf2000 no problem brother. i know exactly what you mean. and back to skydiving, if you havnt, you should. its a lot easier and safer than most people think. go to your local DZ and take your AFF (accelerated free fall) and you'll be well on your way to shit like this.
I've watched this video so many times, what a RUSH! Excellent work by the flyers and the camera crew!
to do list WINGSUIT THROUGH SEATTLE!!!
And you can tell the mad jumps when the best in the world a cheerin at the end..
Good work boys

Hey, I used to wash that Caravan when it was at Snohomish Flying Service at Harvey Field.
Thats a nice suit to go to work with

what happened to the first guy landing that seemed to have a hard time with the wind moments before impact - did he land ok?

if you have a wing suite can you fly up a bit or only down ????

@felipescalador12 its a parachuting move that u can do by breaking one side of your hute fully hich is going to make u fall faster and spin, but when i saw it i thought the same first :P

Does everything need a corporate sponsor?

Well, I dunno man. Wing suit and some of those mountains up in sweden are better than the space needle, I think =p
