Don't get me wrong, I love Mayim Bialik, she is the realest deal, but I wonder, could a science man in "today's world" get away with writing a book about being a girl? Even if that science man was also a dad of daughters?
She didn't write a book about BEING a boy, she wrote a about RAISING boys. Dad's have written books about raising daughters from a dad's perspective...
The book is called "Boying Up: How to be Bold, Brave, and Brilliant." The title suggests that it's about how to "boy up." How to be a boy. Unless the title is wrong and what's in the book is different?
This is a fair point! And, if you listen closely, Mayim addresses this. She seeks insight and testimony from her own boys and adult males because she acknowledges that alone she is ill-equipped to write about "boyness" on her own. This should be the practice any time a person is aiming to provide insight on a group of people whom they do not personally represent or a community to which they dont belong. But often it is not.
Even asking for input from dudes, I don't think she's gotten as much backlash about this book as other men do when they write about "women only" topics. Plenty of men write about things, and they can cite women who agree with them. Because they'll need to when those men are called out for potentially not having the perspectives to write about this stuff on their own. Man writes a book about a woman's issue. He gets called out. He says "Here's my credentials, here's people I consulted who agree with me." Mayim Bialik, she never reached that "Get questioned by people who doubt her credentials" phase. Except right now, by me, a single person in a comments section she'll never read. That's where I see a double standard. That she didn't at least get called out for this and reach the "Let me explain" phase. This happens to men all the time.
I like her as an actor, but don't take her parenting advice. Her kids are probably going to die from preventable disease. Also, she used to give a lot of high and mighty marriage advice and then she got divorced.
I didnt see an trump bashing. She was simply stating the facts. Trump has brought certain words and phrases into her home that she wasnt planning on talking about (with her boys) yet.

She is such a genuine and intellectual person, it's refreshing to see someone with integrity and grace on this chanel again.

She’s knows what to say at the right time.. love her she’s really talented and I can’t stop watching her interviews.
A celebrity woman WITH brains! So refreshing! Brilliant to have a real role model for young girls
Butterfly_Queen 2987 plenty of celebrity women have brains. What an ignorant statement.
Ken Jennings is a brilliant syndicated role model! Mayim Bialik is a brilliant primetime role model.
Why don’t people say Dr. Mayim Bialik? I think it takes away from her accomplishments
puzzlepiecelove somehow I don’t think she wants that.. just a feeling. I could be wrong.
I totally agree - we have to respect the Drs and we do it with all the others, why not her?
Both genders need help in their own ways. One gender is overly seen as timid, and the other is seen as overly strong.
I really like Mayim

I feel like I wanna know the sweet boy with the dreads in the background.
I don't watch Jeopardy when she hosts. I don't prefer her I'm that role.
Ken Jennings, I prefer syndicated version host! Mayim Bialik, I prefer primetime version host.
