My 14 year old son was taken from us on March 27, 2021 by a 24 year old DUI driver who got onto the highway into oncoming traffic. The driver fled on foot but was later captured by CHP helicopter and ground units about a mile away from the scene. My son was a 4.0 student and was a finalist to speak as a valedictorian for his 8th grade class. He also played in a premier soccer club. Tears roll down my cheeks as I type this and listen to this song. I will forever miss my son JJ.

I know your pain. My mother died August 26th, 2018, from pancreatic cancer three years ago. Believe it or not, I was such a wreck. I had always believed that she would beat it one day. Every time I think of her, I always think of how I always thought I’d see her in good health. But she’s up there with her mother and father and our ancestors and with the Good Lord Himself.
You always knew she'd pass someday, but you didn't think it would be now, so soon.... Lost my Mom in November of 2020 and it's the one that hit me hardest because I was a Mama's boy so I was super close to my Mom when she was alive...I don't got any wisdom for you...it sucks being grown, because you are cognizant of just how impactful losing your Mom is and you bear much more weight than if you were still a kid... Not saying kids have it better, but a lot is not made privy to them because they're children...I don't need to ask how you're doing, I kinda know, but at the same time, no one person's experience is the same as another's so I'll just tell you to just not drown.... Keep your head above the water.... That's all you can do, keep it moving and head above the water so you don't drown and I don't need to explain context so you should know what I mean... But, still weren't gathering the prior years. I's sad ... like losing the entire family suddenly, even cousins & neighbors. Grew up in the hood as a kid, was the only lil white kid in our neighborhood, I was born in the late 70s, but remember in the early 90s, a good friend of mine, Greg was gunned down, come to find out he was shot to death because he was mistaken for his cousin, he was 15, was my best friend, he got the other kids on our block to take me in like family because when I first moved there they didn't care for me because I was a white kid. He use to laugh and make everyone smile. He loved baseball, we use to play all the time in the park behind our apartment complex. They played this song at his funeral and I always think back on him in the 90s. See you brother.

My 14 year old son was taken from us on March 27, 2021 by a 24 year old DUI driver who got onto the highway into oncoming traffic. The driver fled on foot but was later captured by CHP helicopter and ground units about a mile away from the scene. My son was a 4.0 student and was a finalist to speak as a valedictorian for his 8th grade class. He also played in a premier soccer club. So very sorry. You look like you may be around the same age I was when I lost mine. April Fool's Day, 2015 was the day & that seems like over a decade ago already... I waa 39 & turning 46 this fall, I think I'm just realizing I wasn't even 40 yet ... My bday was in Sept., so yeah 39 ... Decades ago. Lost my dad 5/4/18. A then straight craziness right up thru pandemic news 'till now.
I keep thinking on fantasies of time travel back to 1985. That was Marty McFly's year, & it was a great one for me & age 10. I hope you are still like on auto pilot if you need to be, hope you get more peace back daily. Ya already know that pain cam never go away as long as you live, but, it does get more familiar, & therefore easier to deal with as time goes on. Grannies & mom's are hard to lose & my grandmother & het sister lived togerher because they both lost their husbands young, & both had kids to raise, we had a great Aunt that was like a 2nd Granny. (No other males besides ny step dad) so, yeah, it was hard to lose all 3 of them & then losing my dad, caused one of those siblings don't gather anymore, (which it was the virus. last year. But, still weren't gathering the prior years. I's sad ... like losing the entire family suddenly, even cousins & neighbors. Anyway, I am glad none of them has to be around for this virus & for politics since 2016. Wow, it just was a blessing for them because my parents wouldn't hace handled that too well. I didn't mean to type a 4 volumn novel...lmbo! Your reply just hit me hard. And, I just wish I could snap us all out of this horrid nightmare, or snap back into 1985 & lock it in . . .

Grew up in the hood as a kid, was the only lil white kid in our neighborhood, I was born in the late 70s, but remember in the early 90s, a good friend of mine, Greg was gunned down, come to find out he was shot to death because he was mistaken for his cousin, he was 15, was my best friend, he got the other kids on our block to take me in like family because when I first moved there they didn't care for me because I was a white kid. He use to laugh and make everyone smile. He loved baseball, we use to play all the time in the park behind our apartment complex. They played this song at his funeral and I always think back on him in the 90s. See you brother.

I was 21 when this was released. 33 years later this song still elicits the same emotions as when I first heard this. Actually, they are stronger emotions as I have lost friends and family along the way. This is truly a timeless classic.
I was 17 when this song came out. I remembered listening to it and even though I didn't know who it was dedicated to I still felt a profound feeling of loss. For all of us we mourn the loss of loved ones, not knowing who else is going to be taken from us or when we ourselves would go. We just trudge on and try to make the best sense of life we could. Life is indeed so short, fragile and uncertain.
Man, these dudes harmonies are so well crafted. I have almost zero in common with these dudes but the sound these guys make is so soothing.

My family and I said goodbye to our dog Zoey yesterday. We had her for thirteen-and-a-half years. Mom played this song after we laid my sweet pup's body to rest. Covid 19, protests about everything leading to violence, war ( Russia vs Ukraine), violence and mass shootings all over the world especially in the urban community, diseases and cancer are growing at alarming rates. I lost the two people I loved most within the last year; both in December. I lost my jobs and I attempted s****** in February but lived, then this October I was involved an a car accident and life flighted to Chicago when nobody thought I’d live. I remember being little and telling mom to "take that baby bacc where you got him from" when she came home with you. I remember you getting sicc as a baby and crying telling her "I want my baby bacc" and how happy I was when you came bacc home. I wish I could go bacc to those days. No matter how much I want my baby bacc now, it hits knowing you'll never be able to come home again. I love you bro.
