Honestly, this might just be one of my favorite Leadville videos to date. It's one of the first ones I've seen that actually does the race and course justice. Well done.
THIS WAS AWESOME! Congrats and thank you for sharing this experience. Many would have given up and not bothered to share the challenge. I agree, Sugarloaf is deceivingly chunky with its embedded rocks, by far my least favorite decent. Enjoy the buckle as you totally earned it!
Fantastic achievement Jase , you should be bloody proud of your effort , despite the setbacks . I remember 1 time riding without glasses and getting eye-whipped by some flax . Haven't ridden without glasses ever since . Lesson learned eh? Again , we'll done mate , enjoyed the coverage
Nice job. I’m glad I followed your journey. When you where at twin lakes I was maybe 15 minutes behind you. Sadly I did not make the cut after columbine and missed it by a few minutes. Safe travels.
@@leeoles5692 sorry to hear that lee. Before the race I decided that even if I don't finish the journey I have taken was more important and the finish was a bonus.
I’m so sorry about the crash! I was really cheering for you! I looked for you on course but did not see you. Minus the crash I’m sure you would have beat your goal time! I was 8:49 so very happy with my ride. Heading to New Zealand in December with the family. Looking forward to the adventures in your neck of the woods!
Great job in finishing sub-11 even with all the adversity. I saw you coming down the goat trail as I was hiking up! I yelled out "Go Jase!" Anyway, it looks like our times were very similar for the first half, although for me, the GI issues (at both ends!) started to take a toll inbound. Again, congrats on finishing sub-11 on your first go at it!
Great job! Love that you just pushed on after the crash. Tough to even know the extent of it while out on the trail, so tough move! Glad you finished and the injuries weren't too bad.
My back was ok, the odd bike push helped and also at altitude not being able to push out the same watts helped., neck a bit sore but everything should be sore after 10 1/2 hours in the saddle.
Jace, way to persevere and finish despite the crash and puncture! You personify the true spirit of Leadville. You mentioned that your heart rate was 10 bpm higher and your blood oxygen was 95 on the day before the race. What was it when you first got to altitude 9 days earlier? Did you notice your resting heart rate decreasing daily? Is that a sign you are acclimatizing?
My blood oxygen was in the 80s and seemed to go up 2 % or so a day, my resting heart rate was in the 80s and was down to 60s and it is normally 50s. Yes I thin k those signs are a good indication that you are on the right track.
Great effort Jase, as the man said, bad ass 😊
Ha ha, thanks!
You New Zealand’s are some tuff dudes….Thanka for sharing Jase, enjoyed your commentary. And loved the “Rocky Balboa” footage of the eye 😂
Ha ha, thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!

Unreal effort, congrats Jase, hell of an accomplishment!

Congrats on the strong finish! I saw you while I was decending off Columbine and gave you a shout. Keep up the great videos.

Great ride Jase. Well done, glad you could finish it. It could easily have been so much worse.
Very much so Bruce, I was lucky!
Sick battle scar. Now you have the buckle and the scar. Cheers!
Yes, better than a boring story 🙂
What an accomplishment plus a crash and a flat! Respect.
Cheers Richard, slowed me down a bit but I was happy to get the buckle.
Great job! You nailed not only the buckle but also the scar!
Ha ha. They did a good job with the stitches.
Well done!
Thanks!
Brilliant video for average Joe's like us, thanks for your sacrifice

Awesome job on finishing. That crash must have sucked.
@@XCBen it did Ben, it was that gut punch feeling initially until I knew that my bike and body could go on.

Awesome work, but holy fuck what a whirlwind of carnage.
Ha ha yep.
WOW! Great work!
Thanks Kraig 🙂
Congrats Jase! That's a bloody hard won belt buckle. Any back issues during this effort - not exactly being kind on the poor old body :)

You can look back on my progression but I think it was 3.3 @artemartem7534
Way to tough it out , I will be doing it next year . Had to defer because I broke my collarbone. 😃🚵♀️
Sorry to hear about the collarbone, unlucky.
