Wow! Thank you, I love your reaction. Taka is definitely an amazing singer. His parents are both famous singers in Japan, and his brother is also a vocalist of a band. It really runs in their blood to be musicians. My next suggestion is CLOCK STRIKES in Yokohama Stadium or THE BEGINNING in Eye of the Storm tour.

Taka have actually always kinda disliked when people would talk about his parents and his brother hiro as both of the brothers have always worked their music to escape the "light" of their parent and each other, to the point where taka would stay out late practicing with the others when he were a young teen instead of going home, that him and his father ended up having quite the strained relationship, tho they are now on better terms after having talked it out

Its been two weeks since I saw them in NYC and Im still NOT OKAY... Taka is just god tier vocalist and performer and all of them are so passionate on stage their energy is insane. It was one of the most emotional concert Ive ever been to and Ive seen BTS 6 times and so many other concerts that were all amazing but.....One Ok Rock hit me so much more than anyone else. Taka was in face the whole night, I was so close to the stage and I will never get over it. Take me back to Taka!! Thank you for a great reaction!!!
I love finding people from different walks of life and musical backgrounds and watching them learn to love BTS and kpop and One Ok Rock! Ive been binging your videos at work and love! Dont ever stop being positive and yourself and dont let haters get to you!!

Found OOR by chance on Netflix, through their documentary " Flip a Coin" which follows them during the process of making their online concert during Covid when they couldn't tour. Take a look if you havn't seen it yet. I'm pretty new to your channel and have loved everything! Freaking toodles!

Holy crap you went all out for this ONE OK ROCK reaction, I love it! The fan cam you watched is from one of their shows on their current North American tour. I went to their show last night and they performed Renegades. Absolutely amazing to see it live myself!!! If you have Netflix, there is a ONE OK ROCK documentary called Flip a Coin that was released in 2021 if you're interested in watching that on your own time. Other songs you can check out: The Beginning, Clock Strikes, Mighty Long Fall. All of those have live performances too.

Sorry for pouring my heart, but
the sad thing here is: oor fancams are exclusively international because filming and taking photos during concerts is not allowed in Japan (which I love btw because it promotes actually EXPERIENCING the concert). You hear them all sing along to Taka the whole song through, which they don't really do in Japan because of respect towards the band (they don't wanna overshadow them (notice how you can't even hear Taka that clearly anymore during it?)). SO it is very common for bands to include parts where the crowd CAN sing along (that's why the chants are so powerful in Japan! It's all memorised by the fans). It's also considered VERY rude to scream or shout or talk when the band is playing or talking. The part where Taka stopped singing for half a minute during Take What You Want? That's a whole ass stadium, dude, never would have happened the way it happened in the west, sadly. So the OOR lives that you started loving - only happen in Japan. Completely different feeling in Europe or the US. My heart's bleeding when I see all these phone cameras in the fancam. Thing is, I've been a fan since 2011 or so, I've seen them live thrice. First time they came here, there were huge ass moshpits lol (they had some heavier songs back in the day) and almost no phone camera up there. That shifted. I momentarily stopped "liking" them and now I came back and I enjoy their newer songs as well. I LONG for a live concert now, but now I'm scared that all these fans will lowkey piss me off, hehe. Sorry for the rant. I'm sure no one will read this, anyway.
That being said, I have huge respect for that band and this man. He's an incredible artist, so skilled and so emotionally raw. The biggest crime is that there's no live versions on Spotify, sigh. I hope you know that I appreciate your reactions all the same! It's great seeing someone experience their geniuses for the first time and you're so genuine doing that. It's totally alright to stop a video multiple times btw! We love hearing your input :) It'd be great if you'd skip backwards a few seconds after that tho because some parts need to be experienced uninterrupted! :) x You have a nice nose btw hahaha.
Oh, and there's a documentary on Netflix about them with eng subs called Flip a Coin! It's about their concert they planned and held during early Covid which was A FUCKING MAZING. A concert in a huge ass stadium without fans but streamed live. You can't even imagine how good it was. It's fucking expensive to import their DVDs or BDs but it's sooooooooo worth it, every penny.

@@JohnReavesLive Glad you enjoyed the tidbits and weren't put off by my rants haha! Their story, especially Taka's however, is so interesting. Both his parents are famous singers, he was disowned, he ran away from home, found his own way, reconsiled, his little brother's a vocalist in a band too and not too shabby either! They're called MY FIRST STORY. Got a lot to say about both of these bands. But yeah man, glad you're enjoying them! You should do more reactions like this!! Try the music video of "Taking Off," the live performance at Field of Wonder (this was an online concert so no audience), and then the Studio Jam Session version🤘 There's an "official video from Nagisaen" for the song but it's not the actual live recording, but rather the song put to clips from the concert. Still kinda cool if you wanna see the crowds (Nagisaen was 100K people over 2 days) but you won't get the live vocals.
Or you could do "Stand Out Fit In" with the music video, live performance at Eye of the Storm Japan Tour, and the orchestra version.
Looking forward to more OOR reactions! I can't wait to see the guys again live next week in LA.

The band started in 2005 and Taka pretty much wrote all the music and lyrics for their songs. Recently because they have recorded abroad, there are more producers listed but by the lyrics, you just know Taka has written them. To really hear how great his voice is, you have to listen to him singing Adele's Hello and Easy on Me. He is singing it in the same key as Adele and he kills it. Yes, there are some introduction fan videos of yt, but also the band made multipl tour documentarys throuout the years - but recently they did make a docu film with Netflix! ‚Flip a coin’. You can both meet the band, see how they work, and get to know some of their history in the meantime. I would love to see a reaction/comentary if you can post it on youtube! (you don’t have to show much of the documentary, for copyright) or even patreon if needed.
I saw even better fan cams from this tour (idk ab this song). The fans are entusiastic, but also respectful, and sometimes someone get enough luck, good phone camera and good spot, that the fan cam os really worth checking - bc most fans want to see how is the new album sounding live, and we will have to wait a but for oficial live recordings xD
And yeah, OOR evolver their songs, when you listen to a lot of live recordings of the same song, you can see that, and the band seem to try to make every concert special for this audience. Not to mantion specyfic diffrent arrangements, like acustic studio sessions, and a tour with an orchesra 😁
Hope you gonna react to some more from them, aspecially the ‘Flip a Coin’ documentary on Netflix!

It's never a wrong idea to expand your options. It doesn't matter if it's just a personal preference you're trying out, or a UA-cam channel. If something doesn't work, just don't do it again, and if it does work, you have a new option. I like everything Japanese in music, so far. From traditional, and all the way to rock and metal. But one okay go is one of my favorite bands. And this was well before it was used as a intro to Naruto.

I don't know if that's something you're interested in, but I'd suggest listening to a few older songs as well, because they're really great and it could be interesting to see how they changed and progressed. A few of my favourite songs are The Beginning, Liar and Karasu the orchestra version in Yokohama Arena

Wow!! Thanks for reacting to the links in my last comment! 🙏
You're totally right about live fancams, they're usually horrible due to the shaky camera "Blair Witch" effect you mentioned, and also because not a whole lot of bands nowadays sound great live. Taka and OOR are the real f'n thing. 🤘🤘
Unfortunately, I don't think there's a really good "Intro to One OK Rock" video like there is for BTS. I wish there was... Some brief history on the members and how the band started:
As some other commenters have mentioned, Taka's parents are both high profile singers in Japan singing more traditional Japanese music. They wanted him to kinda follow in those footsteps and taught him how to sing from an early age and then entered him in Japanese talent shows. He hated it, and in the end wound up falling out with them and leaving home. He went to live with his grandmother and worked in a restaurant, which is where Toru found him and convinced him to join OOR. Ryota was a high school friend of Toru and actually didn't play any instruments at the time and learned how to play the bass so he could join the band! Tomoya was a student in music school and was the last member to join. They debuted in 2005, but settled into this 4 piece band in 2010, which is when they really took off in Japan.
Their catalog is long and very diverse. Early on they played a lot of pop-punk, then went into an emo-rock period which has their heavier songs. Now they've kinda settled into a slightly more mature phase for lack of a better way to put it.
As for suggestions for next songs, I'd probably go with "The Beginning." That's the song that really catapulted them into superstardom in Japan when it was used as the theme for a movie adaption of a Japanese manga. There's both a music video that's pretty cool and tons of live performances, of which I'd probably recommend the one from the Eye of the Storm tour. Links below...
Enjoy the journey! I've watched many of your BTS reactions and am loving your foray into OOR now. Have subscribed and will now be joining your Patreon to follow along.

Damn. Been a fan of them but first time hearing this.
The problem I have is that I'm kinda hesitant to hear new music released by my favourite music as there are times that the new ones come out not totally awful but kinda disappointing.
But this band? They always deliver!. Thanks for the review!
