@Lazy Bundy spending 20 grand to summit a mountain? Ha! The money already is wasted. What do you get by submitting everest? You get nothing, except bragging rights and that's it. You don't even get bragging rights if you include the part where you let someone die so you can summit it. But if you save someone's life, you actually make a difference, instead of achieving an arbitrary goal. Don't get me wrong. I like to hike, and I like to summit mountains, but I ain't going against my values just to get to the top of a glorified hill. I have higher priorities

I applaud the guys who took care of him. I want to say I'd do the same but no one can be sure until the problem is placed right in front of your eyes.

It's quite the trek from Kathmandu to Base Camp. Never been there myself, but from what I've read, I believe you. Base Camp itself has an elevation of 18,000 feet.

$20,000 would be cheap to climb Everest. For the Sherpas, oxygen, food, permits, etc My guess is it’s around 60k. I’ve only been to Everest Base Camp but it was a great experience.
Poor Beck was actually left for dead twice! And Lincoln Hall went thru all that and passed from cancer 6 yrs later. What a bummer! On Everest, people like Myles, who saved Hall's life, are few and far btwn.

You can’t just backpack another person and bring them down - that’s not how it works on 8000m altitude. That high, even thinking is incredibly hard, let alone carrying someone. Sure, you can provide water and oxygen, but at the end of the day, everyone has to get down by themselves. If you don’t know your body, these mountains are incredibly poisonous.

An Australian man faced that choice & it wasn't concerning a stranger, it was his own wife. He says she gave him her blessing to push on, but why would he even ask that question when he knew she needed to get out of that zone? Also there are companies that help you to climb the peak that charge from 40000 up to 160000 dollars. Also in a documentary couple years ago a Sherpa was paid with 10000 dollars a trip and the season it's short april-may.

Only one false information here, the team leader of the Lincoln group ordered the Sherpa who were trying to revive him as their own oxygen supply was getting low and they needed to save their own life as well.
Not everyone who tries to climb Everest is an actual climber or experienced. Some of these climbing companies will take anyone's money, even if they don't have the skill or ability to climb it.
Great point, and you'll come across bodies much earlier than the Death Zone. As I recall, Krakauer in 1996 passed his first body between Base Camp and Camp 1
I personally think that if you save someone’s life on the mountain, choosing to save a persons life over reaching the top of the mountain then you should be given a chance to go and try again at no cost, since technically you already paid for that experience, getting a redo to do again at next opportunity. Sadly it’s turned into greed and all that seems to be cared about is how much the Nepal government and businesses can make off of the climber’s, instead of caring what happens to them.

There is a small window of climb time. On average it’s 5 days, but some seasons it’s a little as 3. It takes 2 months to climb to the top.

Unfortunately you understated the cost and overstated the preparation (in many cases).
It's called the death zone for a reason.
After that point, you are on your own. There is not enough oxygen to help anyone.
It's just the way it is.
That is simply not true, as evidenced by the number of people who have been rescued by Sherpas or fellow climbers.
I mean the Sherpa was right. You can’t pay someone to die for you. Everyone knows there’s a serious risk of injury or death and you can’t expect people to die for your midlife crisis escapades

Only one false information here, the team leader of the Lincoln group ordered the Sherpa who were trying to revive him as their own oxygen supply was getting low and they needed to save their own life as well.
Totally agree. Sherpas didn't betrayed Lincoln they just don't have a choice.

Not everyone who tries to climb Everest is an actual climber or experienced. Some of these climbing companies will take anyone's money, even if they don't have the skill or ability to climb it.

I personally think that if you save someone’s life on the mountain, choosing to save a persons life over reaching the top of the mountain then you should be given a chance to go and try again at no cost, since technically you already paid for that experience, getting a redo to do again at next opportunity.
Sadly it’s turned into greed and all that seems to be cared about is how much the Nepal government and businesses can make off of the climber’s, instead of caring what happens to them.
