This blew my mind. I never knew this was possible. You're an inspiration.

It all started with a composition project at uni. And then I loved the sound world of flute and pedals so much that I simply never stopped :)

    Thanks for sharing.
I actually play quenas (a SouthAmerican cane flute) and I do like this:
    1. I make the sound enter the system trough a mic (on a stand or mobile).
    2. I connect the mic output to a Behringer Shark (it has XLR and Canon inputs and outputs plus another features, and Phantom Power).
    3. The output of the Shark goes to whatever pedal (or pedals or pedal controller).
    4. The output of the last pedal in the chain (or the output of the pedal controller) goes in either a mixer or a PA using mono XLR plugs.
    It suits me fantastically well!
    Stay well!!!!
P.S. Years and years ago there were tiny mics by the brand Barcus Berry not intended for wind instruments but they went so well with them.

      @@TheTechieflutist It works very well.
      Other solutions:
      1. Eventide "Mixing link".
      2. Radial Engineering "Voco Loco".
Both are interefaces to use guitar pedals with aerophone instruments (or voice), plus some other features.
      Stay well and enjoy!!!
I do like your videos, THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR KNOWLEDGE!!!!

I think it could be because the adapter has a stereo jack output but the stomp box is mono input (or two mono inputs L/R). If you get a mono adapter it might solve it.
I generally don’t plug make stereo jacks into female mono inputs as it does not always work.

Stumbled across this vid from the algorithm and this is so cool! Death By Audio do a really cool pedal called the Echo Master for vocals and it has XLR in and out which can produce these sick delay reverb effects. Stu mackenzie from King Gizzard and the Lizard wizard has a really cool set up when he plays flute live but also just for vox in general!

A question for the music teacher. I play Native American Flutes and want to use a looper. What is the best way to do that? I have a JBL Compact P.A. It has one Phantom Power plug that I hook my Audio Technica Mic to that goes to my flute. I am lost with all this technology as I'm older and don't know where to turn. Any resource or advice is greatly appreciated!

      Hi Karen
It can be very overwhelming trying to navigate all the technology and it always seems to change so fast too.
Do you know what looper you're going to use? Because that will determine how you connect to it. Some loopers like the boss RC-300 let you plug your mic straight into. Others only take guitar leads which means you need an adapter/converter.

Using the headphones output is definitely dodgy, guitar pedals do not expect a headphones level, and many might not react well 😅 The reason the XLR / TRS jack adapter didn't work is because the XLR is mic level, and the pedal expects instrument level, not the same impedance and level, that's why it doesn't work. Another thing, XLR is not stereo, it's balanced :) Going with a small mixer for your 4 flutes is definitely the right solution! Maybe a mixer with jack master output would have been the best, to not send headphones impedance into the pedals :) The way I did it for sax is to go wireless, mic goes into adapter, receiver goes as line level jack into the pedal directly!

I play the flute too. Have you tried the Zoom AX 1 made for acoustic instruments? If so, what are your thoughts? If not, I would interested in you trying it out and giving us your impressions. Thank you.

I haven't tried it. I believe it is relatively new... I would love to give it a go though. I've had a little look at it and my only concern is the lack of foot pedals. It only has 2, plus an expression pedal. It means if you wanted to quickly turn on or off more than two effects at a time using only your feet you would run into trouble. I'd also check some of the demos and see if you can find out how many different effects you can have either in a patch or turned on at any one time. If you can only stack two effects then it is a little limited. I'll often have delay, pitch shift, reverb and the Boss SY1 all going at once... I would so love to play with it. Maybe one day down the track I'll be able to get my hands on one.

Love the video!! I've come back to watch it way too many times haha. Would you say the KK silver bullet mic is worth the purchase? And does the preamp box attached to it go on the floor when performing or somewhere else? (sorry if that's a really dumb question)

    • @techieflutistflutetutorials
      @techieflutistflutetutorials  3 роки тому +2

No such thing as a dumb question! The KK is my favourite flute mic and I use it at all my gigs. The biggest drawback is the cable but I'm yet to trip over it. Just have to make sure its not right in front of me. I always play with the preamp on the floor. Because it has cords attached to it, it doesn't really fit in pockets very well. You can always use a vocal mic. (I'm planning to make a video about this). But the problem is you have to stand really, really close to it in order for it to pick up the flute and then if you move even slightly your sound either drops out or you knock the mic which is never a good thing. The KK is my go-to mic and I have never regretted the purchase. :)

Thank you for the response I really appreciate it! I think I will buy the KK mic as to at least have more movement than I would have with a vocal mic (I agree that the sound pick up just isn’t ideal, I feel myself falling off vocal mics quite easily) . I’d love to experiment with pedals as well! Thank you once again, love your channel.

A little suggestion, you have to show ports in the screen every time you plug a cable into the box. Too much ins, and outs tend to confuse and lost the main message. Nice presentation set up.
