i just got one for free,same color & model... very clean, took it home, its alive... jajaja wow back in the days as a graphic designer we were facinated with this machines, nice piece for decoration :)
The graphite 600mhz G3 iMac with 640mb ram. It was my favorite computer. I had mine from 2004-2006 which was good enough with OS X (I believe Snow Leopard was the last to support PPC) to run most websites and even youtube. If I had the space I would retrofit it with modern PC hardware because I loved the form factor so much.
@@mechanisma22 I think most 32 bit Macs could only go up to Lion, with exception of few which actually ended up with Snow Leopard. I'm pretty sure you could patch it to run something more modern on such thing, though.
I got one of these off of craigslist a while back. Mine had a good HDD, but a busted DVD drive. It was fun to try to find a replacement for that. Mine is slightly different, having a VGA port on the back (useful if you kill your screen ;) ).
I'm surprised you didn't get better suggestions than that. All of Bungie's back catalog is Mac and you should definitely play Myth 1 and 2 (or even the non-Bungie 3), the Marathon Trilogy, Pathways into Darkness and even Oni is a delight. AmbrosiaSW stuff is also a must, particularly Escape Velocity/Override/Nova but also Ares, Harry the Handsome Executive, and their collection of takes on arcade games. That's just to start with.
Thanks for the list! I'm always looking for more classics to try out. Since I was Mac-lacking growing up, there is a lot of games I missed. I will definitely track these ones down for future videos... and just to play on my own. Thanks again!
I have the Graphite SE and after a few years of non use I plugged it in and no power light or life in it. I run a wand along the power cable and power is going in, i touch the on button but nothing happens, keep pressing for a few seconds still nothing happens. Any ideas please? Enjoyed your video, love seeing old machines work again.
Glad you enjoyed the video! I guess my first guess would be the power supply. Electricity might be getting in, but a damaged power supply means it can't provide the internals with what they need to run. Beyond that, it could be the logic board...it's hard to say for sure. I'd usually go in, start testing using a multimeter to see if there is power anywhere past the power supply, as well as looking for obvious signs of damage. Just be careful. Especially since these machines have integrated CRTs, there can be dangerous voltage hanging out in there... even with the machine unplugged.
I've never been a Mac person but I'm glad you were able to save this one from what seemed like it's doom.

You're actually quite far off. Leopard was last for PPC, and when it comes to G3 it's Tiger (or even Panther on tray-loaders)
