I like how it goes by decade, but we all know it just means it's each one that's been added to the collection. We don't get rid of shit. It becomes vintage.

@@kittie_el_fantazmobulsara4302 So do I. They hold up well over the years, so why not? I saw 3 of my staple brands here---Doc Martens, Demonia, and New Rocks. I really haven't bought new shoes in years. I keep my "vintage" ones in great condition. The only really new ones I got are by designer Anthony Wang. His collection features quite a few designs that are great for goths. (Jan Griffiths).

My mom who was a teen in the 80's and sometimes talks about how she wore "pointy shoes". After this video I have realized my mom was totally goth in her teens
ThyQueen pointy stilettos were really fashionable in the 80s, my mother had loads and wasn’t in the slightest bit goth.

I know what you are referring to is pointy at the toe not the heel. I also wore a lot of pointy toe shoes. Not only goths but punkers and new wavers also.
Johana Camilo when I said “pointy stilettos” I meant shoes with a stiletto heel and pointy toe. They were mainstream fashion in the 80s!

These videos are made by me. And a team of friends, most of whom volunteer their time and their talents. It takes hundreds of collective hours and thousands of $ to make these, which are funded independently. (Translation: I pay for these myself.) We put them out for free, for viewers to enjoy, debate, link to, remix/react, etc. There are many ways to share these videos that is not stealing. To be clear, I'm not ranting about people linking to this video, or posting it on their FB pages or anywhere else. That's always appreciated. I'm talking about unauthorized downloads/uploads.
Ad revenue from UA-cam covers some (but not even close to all) the expenses. Posting to FB makes us zero dollars. So we don't post these videos on FB. But every week for the past year, someone else does. They download the clip, crop out the credits (usually), and host on their own FB page in a crappy lower rez version. I've seen some with millions of views. They get free content and lots of attention for their page for doing no work at all. This is exactly what copyright infringement is. It's illegal. It's against your terms of service with FB and YT. And it's, make no mistake, incredibly selfish.
I will continue to file takedown notices against any unauthorized posting of my work. Don't be that fucking jerk, OK? It's not that hard.
You could also watermark your vids, though I've had people re-upload them, watermark and all. At least you still get a little name recognition when somebody steals your video though.

Being a child in the 80's I still have all my old shoes that are in this video with the exception of some Doc's that simply wore the hell out. One of the few "Goth" videos that are actually accurate. Bravo!

Yes!Yes!Fluevog knee high Grande Nationals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I saved for half a year for a pair of the 900 dollar thigh high pair in black. I wore the shit out them. They now rest in my closet in the box they came in, still totally wearable I just don't "wear the shit out them" anymore. They are too precious. And getting in and out of them is an exercise in patience. haha.
My faves in the 1990's were a suede pair of black granny ankle boots with french heels. Wore them till the heels fell off!

I found a pair of "kitty face" TUK mary janes in a thrift store about 3 or 4 years ago and literally wore them til they fell apart after 2 years of owning them (which i regret so much, i loved them!!)
and they're not even my usual style
They still make them. I just bought some about 6 months ago from TUK.

I just discovered your videos and I LOVE them
Not sure why there were Lolita shoes included in this (the tea party and rocking horse shoes). Lolita is it's own thing, and other than maybe Visual kei (Malice Mizer), it doesn't have much of a music scene to it like Goth does. Lolita is mostly fashion-based, especially nowadays. There used to be some GOTHIC elements in Lolita in the 2000s, but as most Goths know, liking spooky things and bats doesn't automatically make you a Goth. The music does. Gothic Lolita does not equal Goth.
There are some western goths that wear their own version of gothic lolita, I remember It being a fad among goth girls in the mid to late 2000s, but I bet most western goth lolitas would've looked un-lolita to japanese lolitas, just as many gothic lolita outfits would've looked un-goth to western goths. There was some back and forth inspiration between both styles, but I agree, gothic Lolita Is not goth.
It's like the heels with the skulls and the zombies those are both more alt rockabilly
eh, i'd say there's a fair bit of overlap between people in goth fashion and people in lolita fashion. (plot twist - half of those goths into lolita are into sweet lolita 😁) and seriously, unless you're in a larger metropolitan area (or, like i am, a region full of colleges and anime dorks 😀) there are probably three girls in your lolita community, and one is your sister/cousin/friend who doesn't own any lolita and wears yours to meetups. which is the three of you at a table in a tearoom that opened when red hat ladies were a thing.
we make do with what we've got, and if that's wearing your new co-ord to goth night at the local club because international lolita day is still three months away, so be it.
