    At 4:20 he mentions 1979 then he mentions 1979 again six seconds later. Can anyone clarify?

      He's saying that real wages in 2007 were lower than those in 1979 ("before the grand experiment").

    At around the 2:00 clip, Chomsky states that explorers were finding new "creatures". Does he mean to imply that there were no humans with dark colored skin in Europe prior to this time?

    Two ways, either three, or four, it isn't important. Racism is racism and all.

    in 10 years, the US labor force went from 150 million jobs to 160 million jobs. in that same 10 years, we acquired 1 million new immigrants per year. The US Census algorithm for population growth 2008-2018 was an increase of 21 million people. 17% of our labor force is migrant employment. But yes, let's discuss everyone's feelings..

    Chomsky is aware of being the "meme of intelligence" and does not do anything to disproof it with a neuroscientific basis.

    You know, racism is quite the two way street.

    • @DanielSMatthews
      @DanielSMatthews 6 років тому +11

      "Racism" is just a clumsy way of trying to explain a more universal phenomena that is common to all humans, fear and distrust of outsiders, and it is possibly a hangover from our hunter gatherer past where people wandered about in small groups of related individuals, when contact with another group could be very dangerous. My marriage is multiracial and I have lived in my wife's country as well as her in mine so we have seen that if you are the one that stands out you are treated differently according to people's inclinations, sometimes it is fascination, other times it is fear, most of the time it is indifference. It has nothing to do with your actual race, just that you are not the same as everyone else and so you get noticed.

      Institutionally it's not. On a personal level, it's not even close.

      Slamz Dunk I think the definition of racism isn't as simple as people portray. Especially more so in movement groups where rational thought is less prominent. It's emotionally driven from people wanting to be comfortable in their own communities or tribe for example. I agree with the outsider statement would have had a big influence at first. Then it was reinforced by statue of development and greed when currency was introduced.. In my experience racism isn't about colour. It's about culture. Not everyone wants to mix...

    • @Correctrix
      @Correctrix 6 років тому +28

      Noam Chomsky has been teaching at MIT **since 1957** , you fucking moron. That’s probably before you or even your parents had ever heard the word ‘communism’.

    • @hayharut
      @hayharut 6 років тому +2

      Correctrix what's 1957 have to do with social Marxism?

    • @Correctrix
      @Correctrix 6 років тому +12

      No one mentioned ‘social Marxism’.
      You took Chomsky lecturing at MIT in this recent video to mean that MIT has now fallen to communism. He's been lecturing there since 1957. You're laughably out of touch.
      Next you'll comment on a Martin Luther King video to say, "See? The blacks are getting militant!"

    • @hayharut
      @hayharut 6 років тому +2

      Correctrix wait you mean people aren't allowed to change their views on things? maybe even stay silent until their views become more mainstream before preaching them? wow who would have thought that could never happen!

    • @Correctrix
      @Correctrix 6 років тому +11

      Chomsky's first political writing was his essay denouncing fascism in the Spanish Civil War (1936-9) when he was about ten. He was later arrested for protesting the Vietnam War. He hasn't changed his views. He's been an anarchist probably since before your grandparents were born. Just stop. Go and read a book or something. Let's leave UA-cam alone.
