@@pappaclutch3266 Glock really should have worked on that grip angle a little better. Seems like everyone's pistols feel better to the hand grip-wise than Glock. I will say that Glocks are reliable pistols and tend to go bang consistently with any ammo you feed it. Which is what you would ask from any pistol you carry. Because there may come a time when you have to shoot what you can find and not have a wide variety of choices.

When it comes to budget friendly firearms:
It is so condescending when people believe their opinion is above others.
Like the opinion that people should only buy what they consider to be worthy.
    Like highpoint haters.
You are basically telling people to go without any protection until they can somehow afford what you approve of.
    That is asinine.
People... Get what you can afford to have something now and be able to practice., then save up for what you want to get later.
And to hell with irrelevant opinions.

    • @matrix5175
      @matrix5175 4 роки тому +3

I totally agree with what you're saying, but after owning 2 hi points and a taurus g2 as well as many other budget friendly pistols, I highly recommend going with the taurus or some other budget friendly weapon instead of the hi point. I am not knocking the hi point for what it is, especially at the price point it's at, but the Taurus can usually be found very competitively priced with the hi point and is just a far superior weapon. I have had issues with my hi points and I just don't trust them enough to consider them as a ccw sidearm. My main complaints with the hi points I own is that I've had some light primer strikers with both pistols, but to me their biggest downfall is their magazines. I've always had trouble with their magazines holding up and being reliable and is the number 1 reason I would strongly suggest that someone choose another budget friendly pistol as their ccw if at all possible. But, I am a believer in the concept that the gun you have with you is better than no gun at all. But let's be honest, if the gun you have with you doesn't work, then it's not helping you at all.

I have owned a Security 9 for about a year and a half and thought i'd give my experience. Overall it's not bad, it's reliable but I have had a few jams here or there. Now a couple things to keep in mind, I have "heard" that if the trigger is pulled when it's not cocked and can break the entire trigger group- but I have no tested that. Now with a personal experience issue- I have had light primer strikes on high end ammo like Underwood+P ammo, and because of my issues Underwood themselves watched my videos and contacted Ruger, and apparently Ruger admits to having something wrong with the Security 9 like the firing pin channel issue or something like that, but it's only an issue with hot ammo. My experience with the pistol other than that has been good and accuracy is good but not great, it will hold 2" groups at 7 yards as where a really good handgun can hold less than 1" so it's only combat accurate, which is fine. So, overall it's not a bad pistol but from watching this video i'd have to say the Taurus looks better.

I'm not a fan of the matte Taurus finish but the stainless option is nice. I had a G2c and put it through some pretty extreme tests and it held up and I parted ways with it. I'd consider adding the G3 to the collection for a budget option. I'm hoping they add the new trigger from the G3 to the G2c and G2s and make a G3c and G3s. Would be nice to see them offer a G3c with the 12 round mag and a 15 round extended.

@@BrassCatcher I like Taurus. I own 3 of their guns now, running the gamut from 1911 (impostor), to revolver, to G2C. I can't say much of anything good about the PT1911, however.
The finish rusts and wears if you look at it funny, all of the edges are sharp and pointy from the factory, the trigger is literally the worst of all of my 1911 triggers (even after having done a proper trigger job vs some I haven't even touched, maybe because of the stupid hammer lock safety thing), the checkering gets caught on literally everything and is near impossible to clean without a toothbrush, I had problems with frame battering and FTE failures out of the box until upping to a stiffer recoil spring, many of its dimensions/components are not mil spec, and just to add insult to injury, the firing pin stop is STAKED into place. Why? Seriously, why? Just to flip the bird to anybody that wants to do proper 1911 maintenance?
Long story short on that one, do NOT buy a PT1911 unless you find it used, for very cheap. Terrible value in a 1911, even at $500.
You would think, with that train wreck being my first Taurus, that I would never buy them again. I had heard enough good things about the M85 (and their revolvers in general) and G2C to pick up those as well though. The ultra lite M85 and stainless G2C. Unless there ends up being something radically different about the identical-looking blued finishes on their guns, I will never buy a blued Taurus again. These two though, with minor modification of the G2C and some wearing-in on the M85's parts (which is acceptable because of their low initial cost), are fantastic choices for little pocket guns.
As a general rule, I would still trust Ruger more (especially with their wonderful 1911s), but they're both great companies with great products.

I have 2 G2c's and a stainless P89. Two different approaches, striker versus hammer and plastic versus alloy. Over the years I have lost count of how many thousands of rounds the Ruger has fired, and it has never failed to feed, fire, or eject. Remember back then Ruger submitted a variation of the P85 for the military trials for a new sidearm which Berretta won. The bonus is that they applied lessons learned with the P89. I would expect that Security 9 to be more reliable over the long haul as well. I've had issues with both G2c's and sent one back to the factory. They both are working well now, but I still have a little bit of doubt about if they might let me down in a pinch.
The G3 is derived from the G2c with added improvements, especially the trigger. I'd buy one if I was looking for something in this range, but I might just as easily get the Ruger. Remember that the G3 that Sootch used was sent to him by Taurus and you can bet the kid's college fund that it was one that Taurus went through and fine tuned before sending it out. They have a vested interest in wanting it to perform flawlessly, and as such, it may or may not be representative of what anyone would get if they walked into their local shop and bought one off the shelf. He said he bought the Security 9 so that was probably just a random sample of what Ruger is producing.

I bought one of the G3's just before Christmas. I've got about 1100 rounds through it with 11 different types of ammunition, including steel case (two different types) and self defense (again, two different types). The gun has functioned perfectly with zero malfunctions, and at this round count, is as reliable as other handguns I own or have shot that cost much more.
As you point out, the grip is excellent. The trigger on the G3 is quite good. Better than the G2. The gun is easy to shoot quickly and is plenty accurate out to 25 yards. The only thing I don't like are the sights. They're not as easy to pick up as other stock sights. They're usable, but I wish they were steel and a bit larger. For $249 though, it's a minor complaint that can be remedied. Whether or not you're on a budget, either would make an excellent choice for self defense.

Finally, after multiple phone calls ( most of he time being on hold for an hour- plus, if they bothered to answer) I did get them. But damn, they were the most rude, unhelpful a#& holes I've ever dealt with. Another time, a couple years back, I needed a magazine button release spring for a used Taurus 45 I picked up. They wanted to charge me $15 for a $2 spring! When I asked about the lifetime warranty, I was told it only covered the gun if I sent it in- and on my dime. I told them it was crazy to send it in just for a spring I could change in 5 minutes. The guy hung on up me. I've sold my Taurus guns because of their very questionable customer service. I'd definitely buy the Ruger over the Taurus any day. Hell, I'd buy a Hi Point over the Taurus..I've had great luck with their guns and HP's customer service is the best in the business.

What’s not sold about a firearm that can accept any type of ammo, in comparison to the other? Respect ✊ for ur opinion it is valid no points intended.

Great review brother. Awesome jacket my friend. I got the CZ PO7, S&W M&P 2.0, and the Canik sf w/o the decocker in green in December and January. All my first polymer and two strikerfired pistolas ever. I'm old school low tech. Swore I would never have a plastic pistol in '85. Yeah slow to change. I own several Rugers and love them but would chose the Taurus from watching your review since it has a steel guide rod. But I'm.going to shoot what I have and watch videos for a little while. Thanks for the review my friend. Tennessee

Scootch! Always love your videos! You're right. You can't go wrong with either of these but I love the trigger on the security 9. Another favorite budget gun that needs to be compared to others is the Stoeger Str 9. I absolutely love that pistol. I traded in my Beretta apx Centurian for it. Since owning it, I have sold my Glock 19 and my Sig P320. I have never found a gun in the 15 + 1 size that I could settle into until now.

I don't own a G-19 or P320 but if I had the G3 I would have traded it for either, especially the Sig. I can't claim to be an expert, but I own a number of guns and find that I quickly adapt to the triggers and dynamics so when I pull one out that I haven't fired for some time, it only takes a few shots for my tactile memory to zero back in. If it is reliable, then I'll like it, though some more than others.

I have one of each and have had ZERO issues with either pistol. Both shoot great, like the Security-9 trigger a bit more, but not a deal breaker. I have no issues carrying either as I take them out to the range once a week and practice, practice, practice with them. Thanks for another great video!

My brand new Taurus G3 has not malfunctioned.
Fired 300 rounds in 2 weeks.
It does shoot low at 10 yards and 15 yards.
Have to use "combat sight" to raise up the barrel.
Windage is fine & easy to adjust.
It feels just as solid in my hands & when firing rounds; similar to Sig Sauer P250.

Great review. I love my g2 in 40cal and I'm excited to see the upgrades they've made on the G3. My G2 has been an excellent ccw and I have become very fond of it and so I think Taurus has hit another home run here with the G3. Over the years the second strike capability that Taurus has implemented on the G2 and now the G3 (as well as some of their other pistol designs) has become one of my favorite design feautures to have on my ccw. I love it so much in fact that I don't have a ccw that doesn't have the second strike capability as I've found it to be what I consider to be a feature that could actually mean the difference between life and death in the unfortunate event you ever were attacked and needed to defend your life. Having a round that doesn't fire is obviously a bad thing to happen in a life threatening situation, but if just another pull of the trigger gets your weapon running again, it's obviously much quicker than a tap, rack, and bang to get back in business. The need to ensure your ccw ammo is top notch is still a top priority of course, but I love the second strike capability because it's just one more feauture that can help ensure your safety and the safety of your family in the unlikely event that you ever needed it. Thank you for your reviews and God bless!

I love the comparisons you made, and I really appreciate you taking the time out to keep as much similarity with the tests as possible; camera angles, side by side measurements, etc. The details MATTER! So thank you for taking the time to elaborate and give us a visual between the facts of each firearm. 🙌🏻

The mayor thing that sets them apart is the customer service. Ruger is known to have some of the best in the business, Taurus on the other hand is completely horrible customer service I have heard even after 6 months guns were still not fixed or returned.

is what you heard. some people have a hard time and others not so much. we hear about all the bad and none of the good. im sure every company has this so just talked about more than others. ive heard horror stories about ruger also. if you look hatd enough you can find lots of bad from every gun company. and if you really pull the covers back alot of stuff is jyst internet talk passed around by people who have no experience with the companies they speak of.

I've been thinking of getting a budget 9mm pistol, but am not interested in Hi-Point or SCCY junk, so the Security 9 and the G3 are my two finalists. Your demonstration of how much easier it is to take apart and reassemble the Taurus has me leaning that way strongly.

I absolutely love Ruger firearms but would go with the G3 just for 2nd strike capabilities. I will eventually have both but got the G2C and will get the G3 next.

I haven't tried the Taurus. I did just get the Security 9- compact. So far I really like it, minus the harder takedown and perhaps the slide lock not designed to be a release. The 15 round magazine is sold for the Ruger compact, with removable adapter sleeve.

I recently purchased a Taurus G3 for around $270. I’ve only put about 500 rounds through it and I absolutely love it. Only issue I had was when I tried to run some JHP, it jammed a few times. No issues with FMJ.

Another video well done. I got the G3 for EDC and dry-fire practice and it has a rail for a laser, which my other guns didn't have. I have an older Taurus 92 (Brazilian Beretta) with the adjustable sights and it has at least 15,000 rounds through it. I have never had a failure due to the firearm, only ammo that failed to fire with a good primer hit. Otherwise shoots anything I feed it. Absolutely reliable and I competed with it for IPSC matches in minor power. The 92 has the same safety as a 1911 and can be carried cocked and locked. The Beretta has a hammer dropping safety.
