    I just purchased your book and a cedar creek mountain dulcimer and I am excited. You seem like a very good teacher ! I’ve been watching for awhile now so I thought I would just have a try. I am not so good with the guitar anymore because of my arthritis. So far I can play very simple things. Thank you for all your help.

      Awesome, welcome to the family! Mountain dulcimer is very easy on the hands, and you can bring all of your guitar skills with you to the instrument, so that work you've put in isn't lost. Let me know if you have any questions.

      Hi, Amanda! You could always play this one in a more simple manner, but it's a lot of fun to add in some of the other elements. The episode guide is a fairly new addition and I hope it helps you to navigate all of the episodes. Thanks for watching!

    So much information in this video! I'll have to watch it a lot of times and play around on my dulcimer (newby). So is flat picking when you pick certain strings and not strum across all? It's a little hard to see what you're doing, but I think I get it. I can't wait to watch more of your videos!

    • @bingfutch
      @bingfutch  11 місяців тому +1

      Hi, and welcome to the family! Yes, flat picking is picking one note at a time instead of multiple strings at once. A combination of both makes for fun and interesting approaches to any tune. Thanks for watching! The Dulcimerica Episode Guide link is in the video description above, and it will help guide you through almost 700 episodes since 2007. Have fun - let me know if you have any questions!

    Fabulous lesson! Just got a new Folk Roots dulcimer over the weekend! Now that I know more, wishing I had that 1 1/2 fret! Going to work on this song tomorrow!

    I'm confused. You said you are playing in the key of D. I thought DAD was the key of G. GABCDEF#. Only one sharp. F#. Is your playing in D a consequence of the 6 1/2 fret? I don't have one.

    • @bingfutch
      @bingfutch  3 роки тому +2

      When tuned DAD, you're able to play in the keys of G, D, A, Em, Bm and F#m with all of the scales and chords. The 1+ and 8+ will get you the keys of C, Am with full scales and chords plus the keys of F and Dm minus the Bb scale note. You can also "fake" a number of keys by playing barre chords (root-five chords, omitting the major or minor third.)

    Why do you play music exalting the very same Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who you deny? It's seems a very strange thing to me. Praying for you.

    • @bingfutch
      @bingfutch  3 роки тому

      I got saved in the summer of '84 and haven't denied Christ once. Maybe you're thinking of someone else? Thanks for the prayers, though!
