+Pirate Jeni Give 'em a try and then maybe also look into one of the V-Pick Tremolo Pointed picks. They're 1mm and what I use (I tend to break the .80mm because of my playing style.)
Thank you Bing! What a great way to start the New Year putting your 10 into practice! Your enthusiasm and dedication to playing music inspires me! I have the RP50 modeling guitar processor that has a drum machine (it's an older model) and It has a loop and a metronome that I can use when I practice. Sometimes I get stuck learning. I think the material may be too advanced and I have to repeat alot to learn. But I'm not going to quit or give up. Thanks again and Happy New Year!
Excellent video Bing. I had already decided that I must do 2, 3, 5 and 10 in 2016. I already do 4, 6, and 8. You have given me a great reason to buy a looper pedal and tuners have been a great source of frustration for me because they are fragile and or unreliable. Thanks for the timely inspiration. Glad you talked about the picks. The owner of the music store I bought my picks from didn't sell or have much experience with dulcimers, so he suggested I get flimsy picks. Can't wait to see how my playing improves when I change out this simple piece of equipment.

After reading all the positive comments on V-picks I realize I must be doing something wrong. I seem to have LESS control than with a floppy pick and I can't keep my grip on it very well. I've tried gripping it tighter or looser but that doesn't help. If I grip it harder I end up banging the strings. If I loosen my grip the pick it tends to work it's way out of my fingers after several strums. Can you give me some additional advice? Thanks.
Hi, Rod. One thing to remember about V-Picks is that they stick to your fingers due to the cast acrylic. However, after some use, the oils in our skin (and whatever we've been touching) can cause this adhesive property to go away. All you need to do is wash your hands and pick in hot soapy water and this resets the pick. Try this and see if it hangs out in your fingers a bit longer. Also, I do recommend a light grip, no matter the pick.
Hi Bing, I remember a couple years back jamming with you at Barberville. I love the no rules jams! Lol. We played Kansas , Boston, and probably Led Zeppelin. Just finished painting a dulcimer Folk art piece . Kricket moros Facebook.
I just wanted to add a comment that I made myself use a metronome (set at 75 bpm because I could not handle any slower). it's AMAZING how much of a difference it makes.
Thank you Bing. Great episode. I have been using my Bing 0.8mm V-picks and some how have kept the original. Very difficult to see when you drop them. It seems to turn up eventually. Is it necessary to use an amplifier with a Looper pedal. I was extremely impressed when I saw Dulcimerica 222 in which you played Promontory, one of my favorite movies and theme songs.
+Mike Goldston Thanks, Mike! You can use headphones with a looper pedal and avoid using an amp. Glad you like "Promontory", I get a lot of requests for that one! :)
My RP50 changes the music or distorts it into interesting sounds than the norm and you can create your own sounds and save them. It would probably hook up to an electric dulcimer, but I only have an acoustic. mountain dulcimer.

I had a spring break on my Peterson tuner and they sent me the parts for free. No problem. I really like them.

My mistake the RP50 modeling guitar processor has a tuner and drum machine, no metronome. I have one though, a Matrix.
