I went to high school with Vincent. We played on the Baseball team. Always was extremely humble. I was so happy for him. He was a great friend and good brother. God bless his heart.
So you know him personally? Where is he on Social Media? I been looking for him.I do a Boxing Show on UA-cam with my friend from New York and we would love to have him on our show to talk some Boxing.
I was at this fight live. The 2nd time I had been in Atlantic city and the 1st live boxing match in my life. It was electric and one of the most memorable times of my life. On top of having great seats.
Both losses on Tszyu’s record came on very tough fights with opponents that could withstand he’s power and also had power to back their game plan. Kostya was like a brick wall. Not so much of a defensive fighter but had that great chin to compensate. Everyone should go and take a look at the Hatton fight. Same type of fight.
Exactly. In ancient times, a stone splitter would hit a stone over a thousand times. But eventually, that 1001 blow splits that stone. Phillips and Hatton both wore Tszyu down. But you have to take a hell of a lot of punishment to do that. Most can't.
I thought Tszyu's defence was usually good but he got hit a lot here - Phillips had worked out what it took to win and Tszyu ate a lot of right hands, usually he wouldn't. He didn't move much but he usually avoided a lot of punches through head movement and great reflexes - which had obviously slowed a little by the time he squared off against Hatton.
Strange, that not so many commented on this fight. When a certain type of fighter losses, his fan base disappears. Yet, when they win, they're all here as if he's a personal friend of theirs. Ringside announcers also clearly in awe of Tszyu and it's understandable since they have never been in the ring and don't have the slightest idea of what's really happening. Happy to see that they had Roy at their side to clear things up! Doesn't take anything away from Tszyu's legacy. He was a bad dude!!! Just not the baddest
Huge Tszyu fan..but Vince came to fight! Can't take anything away from him. It's a shame Vince couldn't build on this success. Was he as talented as Tszyu? No. But on that night he was better.
@mingthemerciless0319 well Vince had a good career. It just wasn't a Hall of Famer career. He had a few more defenses after this fight and beat some good fighters. But remember he was in his mid 30s when this fight took place. A time most fighters retire. Most of his loses came after to good fighters after Phillips was well past retirement time.
Possibly could have been, would have been quite a stressful period for him, anyone being sued would probably find it that way. Would be difficult to stay focused under the circumstances. But at the end of the day Phillips was too good for him here.
Tszyu wasn’t big on defense it’s probably why he was such a fun guy to watch. But letting a guy that could punch like Phillips catch him that many times clean it was bound to end in KO.
Did you watch how the ref allowed Phillips to hit and hold since the first round? Most of the damage inflicted on Tszyu was because of hitting and holding.
When Vince Phillips beat Tszyu , he defended it several times than he lost it . When Tszyu claimed another World Tiltle Vince Phillips aproached Tszyu to contend for his belt , Tszyu declined , he did not want to fight Vince Phillips 😅 .
Pertama , Vence Phillip memiliki daya tahan pukulan cukup baik . Kedua , stamina Vence Phillip cukup bagus . 3. Bravo Phillip 👍🙏🌹

@Joe_Crow wouldn't have mattered. Styles make fights, and Phillips was the wrong fight for Tszyu's style. I hate when people chalk up wins and losses to the referee. 20 years ago, no one said the referee is the reason they got knocked out.

@@tricknolte3222 With a guy like Philips who overcame so many demons, you always wonder if they got their hands on him again. I hope not.

My right ear enjoyed this
vince had a vicious overhand right .... he couldn't miss kostya with it, kostya had a helluva chin but eventually it gave in
Great fight, miss the HBO boxing days

He stands kind of straight up and is a little vulnerable. The hatton fight that low blow did him in.
Wrong Hatton fight ref won that fight
Why did Tszyu or Phillips not have a 2nd fight? Why was there no rematch?

Disagree with your analysis, even at the beginning of the tenth it could have went either way. Philips got lucky.

A great fight
Tszyu wrote in his book that the court case between him and Mordy was a distraction leading up to this fight.
Lol
Vince’s right hand was an even bigger distraction.

That's not a good move, why wouldn't you want to avenge your first loss. Tszyu would end up losing to Hatton anyways.
Phillips is the only fighter I’ve ever seen that has thanked Larry Merchant, majority of fighters hate him 😂

PHILIP WON CAUSE HE WAS TIRING TZYU WITH HOLDS AND PUNCHING AT THE SAME TIME . DIRTY FIGHTER
No. Phillips won because he was a hell of a fighter. A lot of fighters avoided him over the years. Phillips was on Tuesday night fights alot.
@@BruteStrength99He's right about the dirty tactics. The ref was terrible.
