My dreams of being an astronaut have been ruined... I can't stand that feeling in my stomach while falling, let alone feeling it 24/7 when in space.
So Basicly.. Astronauts are in a constant rollecoaster? xD
I heard this is how newton pictured gravity, he imagined a cannon shooting a cannon ball...and imagined what if it shot in such a velocity that it would fall according to the curve of the earth, and thought of orbiting planets.
Fortunately today i come to know about this site. it is absolutely awesome. As a teacher is very useful to me. Thank you for khan academy.

@williamhad How I see it, and I might be wrong, nothing is truly "free falling" because something is always orbiting. The moon orbits around the earth, the earth orbits around the sun, the sun orbits about the milky way, and the milky way orbits around another galaxy. Hell, due to the fact that galaxies orbit, they can crash into each other.
i always felt it was a zero gravity environment as the name says but never gave a thought into it until watching this video. thanks khan!
Hahahaha this video reminded me of a time, some years ago, when I asked my father why astronauts "floated", and he said both the astronauts and the shuttle were falling. That made ABSOLUTELY no sense at the time. Now, a couple years later, it's so obvious it makes me laugh at the ingenuous me xD
so if a person were to detach themselves from whatever tether they are connected to in the space station, would they eventually slow down enough and crash into Earth, or would hey keep on floating forever? ..
This instructor does the voice over for many classes. Can’t remember where they were but he is pretty good and easy to follow.

I'm taking physics right now so that makes sense to me. However, once you start talking to people, you realize that over simplifying is sometimes better for beginners. I think Sal was explaining it for the more ignorant people. More new to physics than most.
