Hey guys! Just wanted to add one more bit of information here - when you're finished spooling the reel and running the line through the guides on your rod, the line should not contact the line guide on the reel. If it does, you may have spooled on too much line, or not enough. Aim for the line to exit through the middle of the guide so you're not inhibiting the FreeFall action! 😀

Hey man! Great video. I’m looking at putting about 75 yards on the exact same reel. How much do you think you need?

I used the 75 yard spool of 20 lb test and it was about exactly the right amount. If you’re using line of a lower diameter, you may need more, or you could use some 6lb mono as backing to take up space. Make sure to only fill the spool up about 75% of the way so that the line exits the reel through to center of the line guide and doesn’t rub against it, and you’ll be all set 👌

@@dtffishingmi appricate the tips!! I used about 20 yards of old 4 lbs test and I’m now going to put the brand new 75 yards of 4 lbs test on it and see how that looks. 13 recommend 125 yards of 4 lbs but that seemed excessive

@@kalebcantrell7468 as long as you don’t under-spool or over-spool to the point that it rubs on the line guide, it’ll work out just fine. There’s room for a little error. I’m not sure what body of water you’re fishing, but unless you’re dropping baits down 80+ feet, the reel holds plenty of line even at the recommended 75% capacity

I have recently just got this reel and I don’t know if u spooled it right, I don’t know if it should rub on the line gaured or not

I assume you mean the line guide on the reel. It only appears that way because I have it attached to a 7ft spinning rod and line spooler. The line doesn’t contact the guide when attached to my ice rod and the line is run through the guides on the rod - it runs right through the middle 👍

@@Taedan- np! I should have mentioned that in the video - I’m glad you brought it up. If your line is contacting the guide once it’s all set up, you likely either spooled too much or not enough - either way, easily fixed 👍
