- Vinland Saga is finally back with season 2 and wow this was an incredible way to start off this season. I was obsessed with everything this episode! The animation, music, vibe, opening, ending. Everything felt soooo right! We were introduced to Einar in classic brutal Vinland fashion and I can't wait to see more of him and see what his relationship with Thorfinn is going to be like. We're in for an amazing ride! Hope you enjoy!

I'm already crying and it's only the first episode. Fun fact, the flashback with Einar and his Mom and Sister is anime original and wow was it amazing. I hope you enjoy this season and the journey it has in store for us.
the original mangaka has talked that he added anime originals to the season 2. so its amazing
Woah anime original! What a great addition, really made me connect to his character by seeing his backstory. I'm sure I'm going to love this season!
I love the opening and the first scene.
The ending will have to grow on me, but it definitely fits the vibe of the arc.
Also as a manga reader, they added some additional content just like in ep 5 of S1 and it complements the story just as well. All in all very happy and excited to see this finally animated. It'll be worth it, trust me :)
Me too though I'm already a big fan of the ending too! Yes I heard seeing all of Einar's backstory was anime original and I'm so glad for it. Oh I don't doubt that it'll be worth it, I can't wait to keep watching!!

Loved the episode and also both the opening and the ending fit SOOO well for the vibe of what this season is gonna be about, and it's gonna be about Thorfinn. The opening is incredible, and with the ending I was almost tearing up, it's gorgeous…❤️😭

Happy New Year Mai🎆✌, I wish you good health and happiness!! The first episode of S2 was strong mood setter for the new season and what an interesting place to see Thorfinn there at the end. Einar was right though, our boy is lucky to have Leif, Ylva and his Mom waiting for him to be home.
What does a person who's not loved have to live for? Maybe that's more of Einar's story.

I like how they had an Icelandic person read that old-Norse poem in the beginning, and that they consulted the Icelandic embassy for that narration. As a Swede who is well-versed in languages, I could notice the Icelandic accent, but it is very good nontheless.

In the manga that old dude not only made Einar raise his shirt. He also flipped his nipple, fondled his butt and grabbed his cock. No wonder Einar attempted to run away. Good thing they didn't adapt this scene.
King Sweyn(Svhen) of Denmark offered Askeladd a stark choice: the security of his homeland Wales, or the life of his master, Prince Canute(Can-oot). Askeladd's answer was immediate: He struck off Sweyn's head. The meeting of military leaders erupted into chaos after this act of regicide(the action of killing a King), but Canute recognized the play at hand, and killed Askeladd himself, thereby accomplishing Askeladd's aim. Canute immediately took the throne. But after witnessing the end of his father figure, Thorfinn was left empty inside. He was eventually sold into slavery to work on a farm.
I guess that was the lightest punishment Canute could give Thorfinn after he retaliating by attacking Canute
25:45 Thorffin lost a lot less. More like Thorffin is closer to the agressors that ruined Einar's life...😶
Thorfinn may have been on that path before but I don't think it's fair to compare how much they've lost. I think at this point he is quite similar to Einar

You might recall that at the beginning of season one, Thors' VA does a bit of narration that explains that English soldiers attacked and destroyed several villages in Danelaw. This is why his poor village gets burned down twice. The English soldiers burnt it down the first time during the beginning of season one off screen and then the Danes burnt it down again here as part of King Sweyn's war to conquer England.

Welcome back to Vinland Saga!!!! Get ready for more feels 😭 glad to see the music/soundtrack is once again top tier too! Also yes on the parallels with Einar and thorfinn! That transition from high octane battles to this is def one of my favorite aspects of Thorfinns story too! How he’s actually constantly aging cuz in most anime’ they usually just keep the same face and personalities but thorfinn looks completely different in almost every time skip. Really emphasizes the toll his experiences have taken on him so get ready for more character development your going to love it!
Got the tissues ready! Oh yeah the music was phenomenal as usual with Vinland Saga 😍 I agree so much about Thorfinn, it's rare to see a character age like you said (FMAB is the only other one I can think of off the top of my head). Can't wait to see him develop!

As I always say, I appreciate that Vinland doesn't shy from the brutality of war and the implications of it; it's so easy to ignore the lose of life, the consequences for the survivors and how culture, economy and such are shaped by it. I really hope Thorfinn and Einar can move beyond all they have lost.

Honestly despite the studio change I noticed no difference in style or quality between season 1 and 2 and that's thanks to most of the same staff from season 1 working on season 2

It’s the summer of 1015 during this episode and believe S1 ended in the beginning of 1014.
Oh I had assumed more time had passed but I guess at that point in his life Thorfinn is bound to grow quickly
