I love how he started as the most stereotypical jock character and is now is the biggest dork who has probably played dungeons and dragons with the group at least once
So pleased that the writers saw the potential in Joe Keery in S1 and allowed him to run free with the comedic side of Steve while never shying away from his roots as "that guy". One of my favourite moments from ST1 was when Nancy gave Jonathan the Christmas gift, and it cut back to Steve in the Wheeler's home. At that moment I knew that the writers had more in store for their characters than just "he goes in this box, and she goes in this one...." This series, he had so many chances to steal the show, letting him "win" a fight, and giving him the moment when he realised that the girl he had fallen for was, in the politest version of 80's parlance I can think of, "not his type" after all, and giving him the means to the bigger man because of how much he had grown as a person in these 3 series... well, I've just loved his story. Steve is one of the best characters, both from the writers' and the actor's perspective in the show. In so many other shows, (including whatever the networks have in the pipeline to try and copy and paste ST's model) Steve would have been a one trick pony, "Biff Tannen" meme... but the Duffers gave him life beyond the restraints of his trope. Wonderful show, wonderful cast, and pairing Joe with Gaten was the best idea they had. Two absolutely natural actors with natural comedic timing. When ST finally runs it's course, I'll happily watch the supplementary spin off where Dustin and Steve investigate paranormal abnormalities with Suzie and Robin. (As their FBI supervisors...)

I had to pause the show multiple times during Steve's attempts to hit on the customers because I was laughing so hard. Him dropping the change and "AHOY LADIES!" got me the most.
Steve has one of the the best character developments I've ever seen the fact that they made me hate him sm one season and the next he is my favourite character
I love how they gave Steve a dorky and quite shy personality (for season 3) even if he looks handsome and fits into the standard of the “popular guy in school” stereotype. Reminded me of this girl I met in our all girls school over a year ago ; she had a boy cut and was the captain of the taekwondo team in our school. Whether or not you were bisexual, pansexual, or lesbian you would definitely agree that she was rather handsome, when I met her for the first time after our sports fest I asked if I can take a picture with her and she was the one who was all shy and said that it made her heart leap whenever someone would admire her. The whole time we talked she was rather dorky and I couldn’t believe that the girl whom had a long list of schoolmates who would date her and the very same girl who was able to break 3 rectangular pieces of wood in 10 seconds was quite geeky and had such a shy personality. She truly reminded me of Steve !!
I loved the plot twist with Robin being gay and everything, but at the same time my heart hurts because Steve & Robin are so iconic together and have so much chemistry. They would've been so great together, but I guess we can't always get what we want. Rip :(
