Super cute! I'm always impressed with the things you figure out by trial and error. I'm lucky if I can remember to sew things right sides together haha. I also wanted to say that I have literally taught myself how to sew thanks to your videos! I've altered my own clothes to fit my better and made my baby cousin a bunch of food from felt!
Awww thank you so much for sharing! It means a lot to me hearing things like this. Food from felt! That reminds me of that pop-up felt grocery story thats going on in LA right now :P
Sarah Grady
My nephew loves these, too! Especially the ones where a piece of fruit is made from different parts and stuck together with velcro.
They look a little ridiculous to an adult, but he just loves taking them apart with his ‚knife‘ before serving. So worth the extra work!
At first, I was like “oooh this seems really easy, maybe I’ll try it later with one of my tops” and then it got way more complicated and I was like “yeah....nah”
It’s really cute though. I just don’t think my skills are there yet.
Sarah Nink It works best on a shirt like hers. They sell plain shirts like that from Joanns for like $3 or &4 or even cheaper if they've got a coupon on the app applicable to the shirt.
Also you should always IRON your fabric/clothes before working with it!
Yep agree
Great job, looks wonderful.
So cute! Love it
Love it looks awesome
Well-done
que legal vou fazer
Do you have to take the sleeves off or can you leave them on? x
I was wondering this when making the top too. I didn't try leaving the sleeves on but to me I felt I had to cut them off since we would be cutting up the side seams up the shirt through the armhole. Then again you could try to only cutting up until the waist and then cut horizontally across to the markings and see if the twist still works out ok. I feel like it might but since I was resizing the shirt to fit me anyways, it was better for me to remove the sleeves :D
If the shoulder seam hits you at the right place you could leave sleeve attached, but this was an oversize tee and the shoulder seam probably hit April halfway down her arm.
The same thing l do when l. Buy a t shirt
What IF, you used 2 different colors of t shirts so the left and right sides were different colors, like black and white? Like when Michels has solid color tees on sale 2 for $5. I want to try this with black and white!
this is such a good idea! thank you!
Very creative!!
I love it, but you should make the video a bit slowly cause i don't really see the middle steps
Oh and Yes definitely do more T-shirt transformations!!!
Yesss!!!
I wish you could put templates online I’ve been watching your videos forever and we have pretty similar bodies. I’ve only sewn a couple of times and don’t now much about how to make shapes for different kind of styles or to make any piece of clothing in general. It’d be really cool to have something like that! I love all your work
Awesome hack! Would love to see more T-shirt transformations.
Thank you! :)
Me too

More T-shirt Transformations! Xx
this is sooooo easy and looks so cuteeeeeeee...!😍 thanks for sharing!
No problem! :)
So cute 🙂🙂🙂🙂Tendré que hacerlo me encanto👍🎉🎉🎉
Can u please transform clothes from WISH? usually their clothes are not as good as they look.
syud saad thrifting is way better, by buying from wish you support sweat shops. Also the materials are cheap and not worth transforming
Stop shopping at wish then
i feel like cutting off the sleeves is kind of useless...just to sew them back in after??
Ikr that's what I was thinking
she originally wanted it sleeveless but decided at the end she wanted it with sleeves
I'm so confused with this tutorial. I like the top but It seems like you change the main idea a thousand times!!!!
It's almost like she's a human being going through a creative process? 🤔 also, nowhere does it say this is a tutorial
wow old clothes become new clothes
Omg It turned out so well lovely work!! I want to try it already just gotta go pick up a shirt I wanna do it on
Yep! I know we all own so many tshirts at home that can be recycled--or if you're scared to cut up your own shirt, just go thrifting for one! :)
This is the earliest I've ever been what the heck haha. Beautiful top!
Thank you for watching and commenting so early!
I'm literally screaming 😫 Thank you for the reply. I've been watching you for so long 💕
Hey April! I love your videos, but Im sad I cant recreate any of them. I love your style but I do not like showing skin in my own wardrobe. I was wondering if in the future you could incorperate more conservative styles into your videos (less crop tops and super dooper short skirts and shorts) but still keep the style. Aka: like the cute twist of this video’s top but how to make it longer so the shirt covers all mid-drift or something. Idk. Basically keep the cuteness but incorperate some things that would work for us girls who (for whatever their personal reason is) dont show a lot of skin in public. Thanks!! 💜💜
This top could easily be adapted with the midriff covered and long sleeves. It would actually be really cute with long sleeves.
Rachel Hahn
Maybe just wear a spaghetti strap shirt under it? That’s what I would do, since I simply don’t have the kind of figure where I would expose my midriff in public 😎
Doing refashions from thrifted clothes that are less ‚summery‘ (shall we say) is always extra hard, especially if you’re not tiny. You need very large garments to begin with, for example, and the alterations are more complicated if you want to include sleeves and stuff.
In my opinion you would be better off sewing from patterns. You could still use thrifted garments as a fabric supply and to save some time (by keeping details like the part that buttons on a shirt) but rely on the pattern for the design and fit.
Also: I remember Sarah Tyau did similar refashions in a more conservative style, but she hasn’t posted in a while. Maybe look through her older videos for ideas 🙂
you can leave the twisted front longer, cutting it short is not necessary. i've seen some tops with similar design at online shops, they cover the belly. there are even dresses with similar knots on the front.
I agree that I would like to see these types of things as well. There is talent here but while most of the styles are cute, they are not very chic.
shorts and rompers can be made longer too, you can make them knee length
I love the twisted details, I too was trying to figure out this technique to add to my future sewing tutorials. :)
Yes, Aldo I will love to see your creations. Since I don't like to show too much skin.
I now have so much appreciation for my simple twisted top. Didn’t know it would take this much time and patience to do. Thank you for sharing this😍
Love it! You are so fearless!
Haha! Thank you ^_^
I think I'd have a hard time replicating the diagonal waist seam, the way you did it felt unclear. It would have been helpful to see a start to finish version with the adjusted seam built in to the plan.
spacefacecadet she is sewing them in holding the diagonally as she like it.. you may do it according to your body type size see them in from the back.
Out of all the diy tutorials I've seen, this one is my favorite so far. Thanks for this!
Great transformation! Could you show us how you hem the edges please? I’m not sure how to hem stretchy fabric ~~~~
I literally saw a shirt like this that I wanted to make myself and I was like hmm... should request for you to do it, and you did it before I asked 😱😱
Como vim parar aqui está vendo receita de coxinha 😅
With that much cutting und sewing you could as well sew a completely new shirt from a piece of fabric... would hardly make a differents in efford...
But this kind of try as you go approach doesn't really work well when you just have a piece of fabric, at least for me. With an existing piece it's much easier to adjust and experiment as you go. Also the twisting method could be just as well adapted to any t-shirt, without changing the neckline or the sleeves, so it can be done with less sowing too.
Cute and stylish. Gorgeous colour too 😍
You are so creative☆
Me encanta, mejor seria si tiene subtítulos en español, así poder comprender un poco mas.
que lindo te quedo 💕gracias por tus videos!!
Thanks that’s so cute. Love it💕🌹🧵
New fan here, thanks for inspiration! I am trying this 2d time, following you. Did you trim at bottom centers? I think you pleated front before sewing the side seams?
My 1st was a fail, reduced 44" bust, size 2xl, down so was too tight for my 34" bust!!!!!!!
But hey, thrifted tee, it's awesome to learn and I'll start over tomorrow.
Please notice me.. 😍 I always look for your videos doing diy's and thrifted transformation.. I want to do your styles.. But i don't have sewing machine, i wish i can buy my own.. And i will do some thrifted transformation too.. I hope you notice me here.. Love you 😍😘.. More subscribers to come ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hey. I enjoyed the content so much! You most def should put out more vlogs! You need to most def film with Bad Friends. Their vlogs are like Nelk Boys mixed with a blend of Faze Rug!
You should most definitely check their UA-cam out and give him a like! 👉 #BadFriendGoals
Thanks for this tutoiral! I found this although it's now some years old and hope you might answer a question. What did you do to the bottom center front; was it pleated up, not trimmed? Looks as if the diagonal seaming was enough to create the shaping, but then you hemmed as a later step. Any thoughts on sizing up, how much? Because the trial I made reduced SO much that a shirt originally size 2XL would not fit my 36" bust. I messed up the trimming side seams for sure! Using thrifted tees amounts to an inexpensive sewing class! So, I shall try again.
I love your clarity, the trendy-but-modest good taste, common sense info, the editing for most content in the least amount of time, and the music not being obtrusive. The great ideas and beautiful sewing are great content but the style makes it so accessible too. THANKS, blessings and best wishes to you!
Can you try a thrift flip into something long & flowey like a light sweater duster for people who like layers?
Your lucky you have a sewing machine that has different stitches and also affordable. Here in Philippines, its too expensive :( where can i buy an online shop that sells like that without using paypal? i don't have an account or card :( just cash.
Best transformation channel.! you look so beautiful 💙
Hi. I am a woman of a certain age. I made your top. You might see 1 inch of my midriff.
It it so cute I can't believe it.
Thanks so much.
awesome!!!
Omg thank you so much! Been trying to figure out how to do this and found your video. It was very helpful 😍💕
👀 Cinderella, Can I borrow that wand from your fairy godma for quick second bibiti bobiti my way into my closet and give it back to you...
I tried and seriously fucked up😂🤦🏼♀️now i have to buy a new white tee💔
Thank you for making this video showing trial and error!
Maybe for a different video it could be all the steps you eventually got to here so it is more followable for someone inexperienced like myself 😅
Perfeito. Em um mundo que só acumulamos coisas. 😍😍😍 Reciclagem é ótimo 😃
Gorgeous!! How would you do it to just the bottom of the shirt?
How did you fix the sleeves to a more tapered angle without showing the stitching on top side? I don't see any stitching…and I'm scratching my head…
I was trying to figure out how to make a top like this with padded cups.now I know how to go about it.thanks
So basically the first horizontal/diagonal seams, dont even do those? Just go straight to the third diagonal seam. B ingo!
I would really like to put a twit in the bottom of a normal length shirt. I saw this on a TV show and have been desperate to find out how it's done! Maybe I'll be brave and try to adapt this technique at the bottom of a shirt...
I agree with Sarah Nink, looks easy at first, but then you lost me with the 2nd and 3rd sew on the front. Didn't understand it.
Thanks, so lovely. Was the diagonal seaming enough to create the shape at the bottom front, or did you trim and hem?
You are simply awesome. I am gonna definitely try this out 😘😊❤️👍
What if it's off shoulder I'm making, please how can I go about it?
I don’t know if I’m being dumb hahahha but can someone explain why the sleeves need to be cut off? It seemed kind of pointless to me?
Do you think that I could do the T-shirt longer? And using a hand sowing machine? Thanks!
Muy bueno, pero sería mejor si estuviera subtitula en español, gracias.
Why don't you use a serger to assemble your T-shirt? This is made for it, it keep the elasticity of the fabric and stop it from fraying at the same time
Couldn't you skip taking off the sleeves then and just narrow them?
I tried this accidentally cut the back side too lol I tried using fruit of the loom white tee the material was to stiff. I think something soft and stretchier will be better. Cute top!
Please make pet clothes! 😢 I really want to learn how to but there is no tutorial out there for pet clothing! Please please do some pet clothes tutorial!!! You're so good at this I know you can do it 🖒
I like this and i especially like the skirt, but i wanted to know if anyone else thought the song sounded like ariana grande's boyfriend song
This looks so nice! And I think I could actually do it lmao
Try it and figure things out along the way! That's how I do it :D
coolirpa thanks girl I definitely will! I’ll just start with a t-shirt I don’t mind butchering😅
U should do a video on how to list use the sewing machine. Please
So beautiful! I was just binge watching your vids right as you uploaded!
Thank you haha!!
I have a question. Why did you cut off the sleeve if you seewed them back afterwards ?
Shoulders look off and not the same at all.
Left shoulder looks real small and slopped. Where the right is cut sharp and looks as if you have a shoulder pad on the right side.
Wow nice it's very simple way ..thank u so much ☺️
Where did you get the bottoms that you’re wearing in the after shots? They look super cute!!
nice job. if I made it, I would have to figure out how to make it not be cropped because I'm too old for cropped
dindog22 SSAAMMEEE
Do you think I could do it by hand sewing? And if so, what stitch do you recommend?
So cute! But how do you make the hem line neat on stretchy material? It always ends up wonky for me.
What can i make that even not like that because i don't my mom she's not like like that of clothes and i like to make that t-shirt 👕that's right because can you make me a t-shirt can you come my house and to the guy
I love the stuff you do 😍 I have a backless black summer dress that I love the look of but the straps never stay on. The top of the dress is front only and lace with tiny straps the bottom is really loose gauzy long skirt I'd love to see what ideas u have for it I'm not sure where ur based specifically but I'd be all for meeting up and if you like the dress you can use it for a video
Does anyone know what song is playing in the background when she is cutting the shirt? Idk where to find it
Very cute. I am trying to make this shirt, but honestly the directions for sewing the waist then how you got to 2:44 is so confusing
I would love more t-shirt transformations, but not cropped.
But it’s not really your first time! You have done this technique before on the fabulously glittery 👗 you made to go to an formal party 😅
It's a great transformation of a T-shirt,but I don't find any reason to cut the sleeves.Am I right?
O resultado final é muito diferente dos cortes e execuções de costuras realizadas na peça. Falso!
So prettty! Did you hem the raw edges by hand? I don't see the stitching on the hem.
Οι τέλια μεταπείσει,διξαι και αλά. Ευχαριστώ πολύ 👍❤🌹🤲
Why did you have to remove the sleeves? Wouldn't it be simpler to just let them on? :)
I just started sewing because april inspired me so much 😂 I cant wait to learn
Very cute top. Did you make the skirt or pants whorts you are wearing with it?
It is very nice transformation. Does not look like it was a simple t-shirt :)
I love this, but as a bigger lady, it’s not in my comfort zone or style. I was wondering if you would branch out to a different style or something. Idk. Great job as usual
you can make top longer, something like this images.asos-media.com/products/asos-design-knot-front-top-with-kimono-sleeve/9915272-1-blue?$XXL$&wid=513&fit=constrain
Oh! Too simple, now we can make a cute crop top from an old t-shirt. Thanks dear.😀
Genial, super bien explicado y esto que no sé ingles😁
