ERRM. I know you made other videos as you said but this is my first and it was very boiring because all we see is you! Next time I suggest, regardless of how many videos you may have done, do some filming of different areas of the boat going through the sea, eg out from the bow, from the stern, out to the shore if it's visible or even show that it isn't, a bit more chart stuff etc. I'm not going to go and watch your other videos now because I assume they are all very similar to this one with a single shot and I'm not going to spend time trawling through for more interesting stuff to get a feel of the boat and the trip. Thanks anyway.
I am 20 months into the restoration of my 1973 GB 36. One of the (many, many) thoughts I had was to remove part of the storage cabinet and build a proper captains bench as Capt. Paul pointed out.
Bought a 42' cruiser yaucht in 2012 at brick new jersey. My first leg of our trip we ran outside to cape may. Back then (before hurricane sandy) I was told by a local captain that they do not maintain the icw in that area.
With regard to the NJ ICW, you can definitely run it with that GB. Plenty of daymarks out there. You need eyes up and out (not on the magenta line), and know how to take a back bearing to the marker you just passed- it will keep you in the narrowest of channels. Ability to read water helps- get up on the fly bridge. Also reading the latest Local Notice To Mariners will keep you up to date on shoaling or missing lights, etc. As a Captain, it's your responsibility to read them all along your delivery route. Just delivered a 34 Mainship from Chesapeake- Cape May- Barnegat Light on the inside due to bad wx and sea conditions outside. We were not the only trawler running inside that day. Beautiful conditions out there!
The inside passage is less bumpy, and prettier. You just have to watch the tide tables and get through Hellgate at slack tide. You can then cruise up Long Island Sound and out into Block Island Sound through Watch Hill. It's not that hard - I've done it many times in a boat that drew 6 feet.
I love this boat! Grand Banks 36
You should see it today, beautiful boat, Jim has done an amazing job restoring her.

I may try it at some point but not today
Looks like a fun job. Feel free to reach out if you ever need an extra deckhand.
Thanks will do brother
I'd be glad to run a delivery with you to Paul! But I'll be sure to work out my coffee situation before we leave the dock 😁
Yes that always helps
