Ed goes over important safety checks and repair tips for jukeboxes and pinball (anything that plugs in really).
These junction and power boxes are for a AMI G and F jukebox from 1954, 1955. The same junction box was used on AMI H and I boxes as well.
If you have a 50's and 60's AMI Please perform these safety updates.
I have been asked about where I get the bridge rectifier, these are the ones i would use:

If you are uncomfortable figuring what wires go where and hooking it up, i suggest do little reading on them or find someone local that can swap it in.

Hello! I have an AMI F series jukebox, and I always wondered what the clicking sound was when I would turn off the power strip that the jukebox is plugged into. You just answered that question for me and the purpose behind it. I never leave the jukebox connected to a power source when I am not using it. So that part isn't staying energized all the time. However, would you tell me what the part is in case I ever needed to replace it due to failure? I think you call it a bridge in the video? What is it, and where would I go to buy a suitable replacement?
    Thanks for your help!

Hello, I am glad you found the video helpful. The part is called a bridge or bridge rectifier. a 200 volt 35 amp rectifier would be more than enough. I get mine at pinball life or great plains electronics. These i got at a surplus store. I would recommend replacing yours even if it hasn't failed, your 24 v is weak due to age. Also you can damage your transformer if the bridge fails, which you cant get easily. Or even in some cases set the power box on fire. One box i have was a victim of just that.

its called a bridge rectifier. i get mine form pinball life in 20-25 amp ratings, very generic parts 200v or higher is fine as a sturdy unit.

I've got a F 120 that had the bridge fail, and Smoked the transformer. The rectified output is 24vdc, right?

Hi John, I'm not sure of the output voltage. A quick internet search leads me to believe it could be 28 volts. Double check the specs before digging in though. Good luck on the repairs.
