Recent sub. I really enjoy going along with you and your friends on these explorations. I like your down to earth approach - you don't resort to any of the standard UA-cam conventions that are all too common in this type of content. No affected social media persona and no Trap music soundtrack, just some history and a couple of mates discovering fascinating, old places.
At 21:39 they look like zig zag harrows, we used to use them on agricultural land for making a seed bed, before power harrows were a thing. Not sure why they would be there but they defiantly look like zig zag harrows
The first building you visited was the Command Post for the battery and the channels in the floor were for cables that connected the equipment in there. It was sited some distance from the guns so the shock of their firing could not affect the instruments in there.
You should have a lot more than 1.5k subs man. Your contents 2nd to non Well Mabeys not the secretvault but he’s just a glitch in the matrix 😂 respect ✊
Looking through some of my parents old photos, found that they had a bonfire in the gunpit in the early 80s when the area was used by the Hampshire astronomy club!
The guns mounted in those pits were 5.25", replacing the 3.7" of the earlier battery. The only surviving example of 5.25's are on Gibraltar and can be seen here ua-cam.com/video/qhpFXGFgG7U/v-deo.html
Bit late to the party here. I’ve lived in Portchester / Portsmouth all my life and never knew about these! Great video 👍
Nice video m8 👍🏻

Yeah just checked it out and it definitely is, although still weird why it's up there and how it's fused to the roof. Thanks for the info domrees18 😁👍

Amazing piece of history mate. 👍
Thanks mate 😁👍
The harrows have no connection to the emplacement and have simply melted in to the bitumen of the roof during extremely hot weather. My best guess.
Yeah we found this out afterwards as my mate is a tractor driver.
Looking through some of my parents old photos, found that they had a bonfire in the gunpit in the early 80s when the area was used by the Hampshire astronomy club!
Wow, I have tried to find old photos of this site but no luck!
Not a thing!
Maybe them racks fixed to the roof, might of been for the gun shells then ready to load the guns,
Would there have been large anti aircraft lights there ??
Yeah there could well have been.
How wow new there was remains somewere , is that behind the guy with one eye who looks over portsmouth .??
Yes im a grover.
Lol I think I know where you're on about. Lot of connections with tunnels from Portsdown to Paulsgrove
'Never bring a shaven haven to a gunfight!'...That's what me old nan used to say 👍👍
