I work for a web hosting company, and quite often we'll get a new customer that takes advantage of our free migrations service. They'll be coming from one of a number of our competitors that, and I hate to say this, but it looks exactly like they're trying to sabotage anyone leaving. Sometimes from killing the backup process to copy over their accounts, or if they offer domain registration act like they don't know what dns is when the customer needs help making changes on their end. More often than not, even after complaining about the reason they're leaving the old host and how that had gone on for so long and been so bad, they will take everything the old host says as pure gospel. Absolute truth, no need for any proof or anything. Whereas every single character of every single word that we say requires it's own full 3 page thesis to defend it. It frustrates me beyond belief.
Right? @@giomartindiaz Did you watch this video? His whole channel is to destroy scammer PC's, and in this video a person is getting scammed and he legit says he doesn't wanna get caught.
There should be an international crime taskforce to prosecute these soulless rodents. I hope Brenda watches this video & can properly appreciate what you did for her.
Sadly I think the lack of a crime taskforce is the problem. Here very few people get prosecuted, as law enforcement aren’t interested. Another example is the Target employee who Scambaiter talked to on the phone. She had no interest in stopping the victim from buying $500 gift cards
@Reg Montour I can't tell if your trolling, or if your actually a scammer yourself. And to boast about your credit cards "huge" balance is beyond me, why are you flexing someone else' money, I am beyond baffled at this comment.
That arrogant Target employee really ticked me off. The store does indeed have the right to refuse service to anyone as long as it is grounded in legitimate reasoning. She's a nimrod for seriously allowing someone to purchase a gift card with full consciousness that they may be scammed.
Yea worked for Target and they specifically told employees to do anything to discourage a guest from purchasing a gift card if we suspected it to be a scam. In the time I was there I helped at least 5 people understand they were being the victim of a scam. Most of them were old people but there was a woman who was definitely under 40 trying to buy a $1500 gift card because her boss said he needed it but she didn't recognize the email address from her boss at all.
You'd get the same response from local police so it's not just Target. You have to understand they didn't hire that girl to be some kind of fraud expert or anything. Most places like Walgreens/CVS have the "dont buy gift cards for people you don't know" signs everywhere and even displayed on the credit card machine display. Gas stations however I have not seen much warning about scams but also gas stations now have "Bitcoin ATMs" in most of them. The scammers instead need to instruct people to visit gas stations which have less of these warnings to get the success rate back up.
What you're doing is complexly amazing. You're going a couple steps beyond most scam trolling channels. You're not only exposing and explaining the scams, but you are actively giving the victims a chance to get their lives and sense of security back. Scammers do way more than just taking people's money and information. They instill a sense of fear and helplessness into people that is hard to come back from psychologically. Thank you so much for having the knowledge and morality to help people in the ways that you do.
It's absolutely crazy how these people fully believe the scammers, yet when you reach out to them they suddenly have common sense and think you're the scammer.
They don't want to admit to themselves that they fell for a scammer "because they are too smart for that". People don't want to be seen as a fool. Even after they find out they've been scammed many won't even report it because they are too ashamed of themselves. When someone reaches out to help them, their cognitive dissonance kicks in persuading them that a new person is a bad person because there's no way they could fall for a scam like that. It's the same mental phenomena that keeps people in bad relationships or even chasing after losses in the stock market. In a way, this is similar to the Backfire Effect. effectiviology.com/backfire-effect-facts-dont-change-minds/
It’s the same even with my family members, trying to explain those frauds and talk them out won’t work either, they rather listen to direct commands from some asshole than common sense.
That's because, while talking to the scammer, the victim has no suspicion of anything going wrong. But, as soon as the baiter mentions a scam, that idea comes to the front of the victim's mind. Either she's been scammed earlier or she's being scammed right now; if not both! Having no particular ability to discern, the victim assesses that the baiter is 50+% likely to be a scammer.
This happened to a local elderly lady last year. Thankfully the cashier at the store questioned why she was buying all the gift cards and refused to sell them to her and told her she was being scammed. Thank Goodness. You are a modern day “Cyber Robin Hood”.
I wish more shop staff would realise that they can do the same and even if they can't convince the victim they CAN REFUSE to sell the cards. Seen too many saying "we have to sell them" which isn't the case.

bro the employees are most likely teenagers or early 20's kids working a shitty minimum wage job being harassed by customers daily. Give the managers a break, there's only so much they can do. You can give warnings and post signs but at the end of the day you can't micromanage every transaction done. More often than not, even after complaining about the reason they're leaving the old host and how that had gone on for so long and been so bad, they will take everything the old host says as pure gospel.

Thank you so much for having the knowledge and morality to help people in the ways that you do.

this is like Mr. Robot for real!
Who new how hard it is to be a Hero, props to you bro, you’re one of a kind, good man.
It's absolutely crazy how these people fully believe the scammers, yet when you reach out to them they suddenly have common sense and think you're the scammer.
Exactly what I was thinking. This lack of perspective makes them the perfect victims, unfortunately.
This is how the whole world works apparently...

I wish more shop staff would realise that they can do the same and even if they can't convince the victim they CAN REFUSE to sell the cards.
Seen too many saying "we have to sell them" which isn't the case.

How do people that commit identity theft or credit card fraud live with themselves?

Do not feel bad for the actions of others. I can tell you right now I have met many fantastic Indian doctors, academics, and bankers. The awful scammers, would do this to other Indians also and probably do.
The thought that a scam victim would develop trust issues yet still determined to pay the scammers out of fear is really heart-breaking.
Its easier to fool someone than to convince them they have been fooled.
As a person of Indian origin I salute you. Thank you so much for what you're doing. Scamming destroys lives.

That Target Customer Service lady was ridiculous
She couldve alerted the cashiers & they have the right to refuse service therefore not allowing her to get the gift cards
Did not care at all

I live in a small community just outside Yellowstone National Park, what you might call a tourist town. And we have a very small population that is predominantly elderly. And I'm eternally grateful because they are very good about educating their customers who are trying to buy these gift cards. I have a friend who's a cashier and she said that they are very proactive and anything over $100 on a gift card requires management approval. And it's that way at Walmart that we also have. And I know for a fact that they've done a really good job of keeping our seniors safe

That Target employee is very incorrect. There are actual federal laws that say employee's are required to deny the sale for suspected fraud.
Exactly the reason they post those signs and have a policy relating to it. Perfect example of following the letter but not the spirit of policy. Should contact that location again and complain to management as far up the chain as is needed to get them to recognise their compliance exposure.
bro the employees are most likely teenagers or early 20's kids working a shitty minimum wage job being harassed by customers daily. Give the managers a break, there's only so much they can do. You can give warnings and post signs but at the end of the day you can't micromanage every transaction done. You can't really blame the cashiers who go through with the transactions either because it's hard to tell customers no after an 8 hour shift of getting yelled at by karens and frankly they aren't paid enough to put up with that.
Believe me, I've been the manager who had to deal with dumbass employees, and I've also been the dumbass naive employee being pressured into ringing up $2000 worth of gift cards. The best thing you can do is just give a warning like scambaiters did and hope that's enough and that they won't do it again. Calling again to complain and harass the manager won't accomplish anything.
@@HopUpOutDaBed I've been a manager for said minimum mage works for over a decade. I have been quick to back up and defend my people without hesitation from asshats and things like this. It's not thier job to put up with "that shit" it's ours.
