How To: Keep a Clean House with Pets | Herky & Milton the Cavaliers

Today's video is on the top 3 products I recommend for how to keep your house clean when you have pets. Cavaliers are known to shed a lot, so we like to use a vaccuum on a daily basis. Since we have busy lives, we like to use something automated, like the iRobot Roomba Pet Series. Just press CLEAN, and Roomba takes care of the rest.
For pet stains, using an enzymatic cleaner is key for us! We like the Zymtastic cleaner from Neater Pet Brands - life changing!
For carpets, simple Pet Fresh from Arm & Hammer helps us keep them clean and fresh. You just need to sprinkle the powder on the carpet, wait 15 minutes and vaccuum it up! Easy peasy.

HI TOMMY!!! :D Milton wants to go play ALL THE TIME! She's at that stage ;) We're really really happy with the iRobot vacuum. We waited a long time before purchasing it, because it's expensive. However, it really helps us on a day to day basis. We still need to vacuum manually on weekends, but at least the house is clean during the week :)

Seriously considering getting a Cavalier in the summer. My main concern is the fact that I live alone and I would never want to leave a dog alone for too long. Curious if you and your husband work the same hours and how you handle leaving them alone. Wondering if you had some advice for someone living alone with a cavalier?
I have to say i wouId Iove to know too, i have the same probIem. I'm getting a CavaIier in December and i am pretty concerned with this probIem.
Thanks for the question Amanda :) My husband works at home, and I work from home half the week! We're lucky in that aspect, because the girls are never alone for long. Since Cavaliers are dogs that tend to have separation anxiety, it has helped them a lot. However, I know some Cavaliers that have become too dependent having people around them 24/7. When I first got Herky, I was with her 24/7 because I was finishing up school. Then I started working and it was very difficult for her to deal with the separation. BUT, like anything, she got used to it and is not upset when I leave anymore. Considering all that, I think it's good if you're not with them all the time. I would suggest you spend as much time as possible with your Cavalier, when you can :) It's also crucial you get your Cavalier on a routine ASAP. For example, if you pick up puppy on the weekend, start crate training right away and with the same schedule as you would follow during the week. That way, the puppy will somewhat know at what time is potty in the morning, and at what time you leave. I hope this helps you! And please don't hesitate if you have any other questions xoxo

I just hate the idea of crating a dog everyday I am at work... so I wouldn't adopt unless I could figure out what to do with them while I was working, wether it be day care or a family member babysit. And if I can't make that work then it's probably not the right time to adopt. Which makes me incredibly sad because I've wanted a dog for years. Thank you again for the advice and I enjoy watching your videos :)

I didn't get both at the same time, but know people that have :) They got two puppies from the same litter! People have divide opinions on whether it's better or not to get two at the same time. On the upside, you puppy train once and they can play together ! On the opposite, you have two crazy little puppies! LOL
